Blair Yuen [D] vs. Finlay Zeffer - Last One Standing Match

Blair had gotten some good results when she had been in control. The operative word, of course, was "when". In those moments, Blair had been driving the momentum, and she was in a good position to lay into Finlay with her hard-hitting strikes. But now, she was on her back, and Finlay was able to use the sort of moves she had never practiced to the same degree - either in terms of performing them or in defending herself from them. When Finlay came charging toward her, leaping up to crash down feet-first onto her chest, Blair was floored!

She sank back into the canvas, her teeth clenched and her ribs and sternum still sore from the impact. Thoughts ran through her head, thinking about how she needed to get out of a position like this as soon as she could before she would incur more damage than she could afford to take. What was so unfortunate for Blair was how Finlay wasn't letting her do any of that!

His next move would be one she recognized from her time in MMA, but it was still one that reminded her of how bad she was at getting out of holds. It came as an unwelcome reminder of some of Blair's losses in the octagon, as Finlay rolled her on her side, pulling her arm between his legs as he clamped them down around her head! Her teeth clenched further, Blair bent forward, groaning in both pain and frustration. "Mmmfff...dammit..." Though she tried to struggle, Finlay still held firm, and she wasn't gaining much ground even as she twisted and turned.

Finlay would give it to Blair that she was exceptionally tough. Especially for lightweight like herself. Such fortitude was something he repected, which when paired with her determined and calm attitude as opposed to a cocky one, he actually found himself liking the small girl. It was after all the main reason he allowed her to have a free shot to him and knock him down to the mat.

Of course Finlay didn’t like her enough that he would let her off easy. Rather from here on out he was only going to go harder agaisnt her. Thats why the momwnt he landed the double knee drop to her chest he went right into a transition for a triangle choke to weaken or better yet knock her out. Although... Finlay internally hoped he didn’t. Looking up at ber struggling face, contorted with frustration and pain he decided to do something.

Reaching up with his free arm he would flick Blair across the nose in a almost playful way. Or at least thats what people would call it if it weren’t finlay who did it. ”Oi! Whatever you’re thinking about stuff it, just focus on getting free cause I’m not giving you another freebie.” He said up to her bluntly with an almost admonishing tone. As if he were a older sibling chastising his younger for not doing something correctly.

Blair wasn't exactly in a position she liked being in. Not only was the strain of the position she held uncomfortable, not only was she struggling to breathe against the pressure around her throat, but she was more than anything else reminded of the danger she was now faced with. The triangle choke had a long history in mixed martial arts as being a fearsome move, and if Blair couldn't do something about it, she was in danger of losing everything here and now. To suffer a defeat so crushing for her first time in the ring of a new promotion was simply not an option for her. She could never forgive herself for such a thing.

Yet, as she struggled and strained, trying to pull herself from Finlay's clutches or offset the pressure somehow, Blair wasn't having any luck. She shrunk back, groaning as the force around her neck tightened further and wrung a cough out of her. She felt she was approaching her limits, and she didn't know what to do - until Finlay reached forward and flicked her nose.

Blair's eyebrows narrowed and her teeth clenched. She was a woman who prided herself on her athletic talent and took her art very seriously, and there was no greater insult she could imagine than being mocked like this. Her blood boiled, the heat rising within her. In that moment, Blair was inspired. She couldn't let this stand, and she channeled that anger into her next move - as she threw her head forward, looking to smack her forehead straight into Finlay!

Finlay watched with calculating eyes as he pulled and squeezed on Blair, relentlessly amplifying the hold against his smaller opponet. Despite the respect he had already gained for her Finlay wasn’t one to go easy on anyone, regardless of who they were or how much he liked them. But that being said he didn’t want to ruin her debut by knocking her out or submitting her early on.

Thus he compromised with himself and decided to take a route he normally wouldn’t do and tease the girl. It was fairly out of character for him, but in his experience it was a good and quick way to motivate someone. Especially a person with a personality type similar to his own, in other words he knew it would work on Blair because had the same been happening to him he too would get fired up.

However it appeared that the tease was a bit too successful. As he tightened the hold he saw the look that came over her face, one that burning with pure competitive spirt. Before he could do anything he found Blair’s head impacting with his face causing a painful ringing sensation to round through his skull. ”Gah!” He yelled in pain as he instinctively released the hold and rolled away holding his face in pain from the impact.

Finlay's taunt had perhaps changed the course of this match. Caught in the triangle choke, Blair was held firm, and despite her attempts to struggle free, she couldn't get either herself or her opponent to budge. She was swiftly losing stamina, and she could feel her airways burning. A few more moments in the hold, and Blair looked as though she would pass out then and there.

But when Finlay decided to add insult to injury, it was personal. Blair wasn't going to be put away easily, but there was only so much she could do. But she especially wasn't going to be mocked, and that gave her the extra motivation to give it all she had! As she swung her head forward, nailing Finlay in the skull, he dropped back, stunned from the impact.

Blair, too, would lay there for a few seconds as the ref began to count, but soon, she pushed herself up from the mat, rising to a seated position. She panted and groaned, still stiff and sore from being forced into place. As she rose to her feet, Blair took a moment to stretch, rubbing at her back and cracking her neck from side to side to limber herself up. But soon, she had her head back in the game, and as she lowered herself back into a stance, she was ready to go at it once again.

Narrowing her eyes, she looked down at Finlay, uttering a brief but pointed rebuke. "Don't. Do that. Again," Blair warned. She would wait until he was beginning to rise, but once he did, Blair wasn't going to let up the pressure on him. She aimed a swift kick toward his chest, trying to cut him off with a forward thrust of her sole.

Finlay’s attempts to motivate Blair had indeed been too successful in working her up. He knew she wouldn’t like it but dammmn he didn’t expect her to get that pissed. ‘Is that what I’m like?’ The blonde thought to himself as he rolled to his knees, holding his head, or more specifically his nose in pain. Wiping away some blood he’d look up at Blair as she gave her warning. ”Ugh.. duly noted.” He responded dryly as he attempt to stand up.

Key word being attempted. As he did so Blair had taken the liberty of doing so in kind, this time however her smaller size and speed advantage gave her the edge. As he neared the girl he would grunt in pain as her foot connected with his stomach, driving a small amount of oxygen from him while also sending him stumbling back a foot or so. “Ngn..” He’d grunt in pain as he fell down to one knee in fromt of Blair holding the spot where she kicked him. A ripe target for the lightweight to lay into!

Though she still felt the soreness setting in, her neck and back stiff from how she had been contorted in Finlay's hold, Blair was at least back on her feet and in good enough shape to keep fighting. Though she could concede that things could've gone better, she was at least thankful that they hadn't gone worse. As soon as she was settled back into a stance, Blair was ready to put her best foot forward - which, in this respect, was rather literal, considering she took a step toward Finlay and jabbed at him with the sole of her boot!

The impact sent him stumbling back, buying Blair more time. And she was already setting her plans in motion to keep the pressure on him. Seeing Finlay fall to his knee, she moved closer. Blair wasted no time in kicking her knee up once again toward his jaw, which was now within range. If that connected, she would then kick out with her foot, extending her leg while it was raised to deliver a second strike toward his chest.

Finlay would definitely have to clear up what that taunt earlier was intended to do, it clearly made Blair mad, though he couldn’t blame her since he’d likely act the same. In any case the blonde had incurred her wrath and the girl was determimed to make him feel every ounce of it starting with a solid kick that sent Finlay skidding back into a kneeling position, left vulnerable for anything the girl could and likely would try.

Try she did, not even a second later as Finlat looked up at her he saw her already upon him. But before the blonde could even react a loud thud sound was heard over the ring as the lightweight’s knee crashed into his chin sending a sudden and violent shockwave through his skull. As a result of the sheer force from her knee he would find his body shooting up to a standing position. But to add on to the impressive display of striking prowess Blair would then shoot her foot out from her raised knee, the appendage driving itself into Finlay’s chest, the force sending him backwards from his standing position and stumbling back to the ropes. Hitting them with a grunt Finlay groaned as he slid down them to his but while holding his chest in pain, stunned from Blair’s one two combo.

To say that everything went off without a hitch would perhaps be underselling things. Really, the results of Blair's play had even surpassed her expectations. She had thrown the momentum of her forward charge into her knee strike, and the force with which it hit was so strong it was enough to raise Finlay onto his feet! Though she usually was a focused person, Blair's eyes widened at the sight. She knew she could hit hard, but if she could bring someone so much larger than herself to be moved so easily, she truly had reason to be proud of her talents.

But whether or not she was surprised, Blair wasn't finished there. She still had the other half of the move to follow through on. Muay Thai was a style that boasted the use of the "eight limbs", ranking the knees and elbows as just as important as the fists and feet. This allowed practitioners to deliver one strike before extending their limb to swiftly and seemlessly transition into another - and that was just what Blair did now, as she kicked her foot forward to slam it into Finlay's chest! The grappler was thrown back against the ropes, slumping there. Electing not to close back in right away, Blair stepped back, rubbing her arm as she caught her breath. While Finlay was stunned, she would take this moment to recenter herself, recovering from the pain of Finlay's hold.

The blonde certainly didn’t need a reminder of how hard Blair could hit, he was fully aware just from the brief exhanges they had since the match started. But that last combo had certainly did a number and further proved, if nothing else to the fans, just how devastating the young girl’s striking game was. Refocusing his vision following the kick to his chest Finlay looked forward and saw Blair taking a breather as opposed to taking advantage.

Though Finlay would never admit it he was glad and grateful she hadn’t, he honestly didn’t know what he’d do if she unloaded even more devasting blows to him while he was down. Taking her oppurtunity to breathe for himself, Finlay would take several deep breathes while pulling himself up with ond hand against the ropes to use as leverage. The other holdint his still hurting chest while he tried to not dwell on the pain in his jaw.
