The challenge had been issued. Last week on LAW, the yet-undefeated Viper Hoshiwara had challenged anyone who felt up to the challenge to meet her for a hardcore match, one that might prove more conducive to the death-defying stunts that had characterized her style on the indies. With the Viper being a fearsome opponent in even a standard match, it wouldn't be surprising to anyone in the audience if she got no takers - but, by a stroke of fate, someone was either confident enough, brave enough, or foolhardy enough to meet her on her own terms. A relative newcomer to LAW, but no stranger to no-holds-barred fighting herself, Irene Kanzaki was on the lookout to avenge Viper's brutal and underhanded defeat of the lightweight known as Pulse - and Viper was happy to oblige. When the competition at LAW was failing to catch her attention, something a bit more daring might be just what she needed.

"Coming first to the ring, from Akishima, Japan! At 5'8 and weighing 145 lbs., VIPER HOSHIWARA!"

Red lights fell upon the entrance ramp as Viper stepped out onto the stage. With unblinking eyes, she looked back and forth around the crowd. A few boos sounded, but for the most part, they were silent. Her ferocity had been on display, her matches few but impactful, and one could only imagine what she would be capable of without the rules of a standard match to restrict her. No one wanted to be the first to provoke her.

Viper didn't even need to be provoked to threaten those around her, though. While many wrestlers would celebrate with their fans, slapping high-fives and cheering themselves on, Viper simply held a knife in the air, waving it back and forth above the rows of heads. The fans shrunk back from such a display, but they weren't her intended target. She was hoping that Irene would see this, and that she would know what she was getting herself into. If she backed down after this, Viper would hardly be surprised. But if she was still willing to face Viper on her own grounds, against all odds, she might really be the opponent she had always waited for.

Stepping in through the ropes, Viper walked across to the other side of the ring and draped herself across the ropes, leaning back as she watched out at the entrance. "Don't disappoint me," she muttered.

Viper's challange had been accepted. Irene was the one to deliver Viper's first ever defeat, at least she believed that. Not only it would be out of justice, a hardcore match might have been just the thing she wanted to be in. Now that Viper was making her entrance, she was simply holding a knife making tricks waving it back and forth. "That snake!" she hissed to herself watching her opponent through the monitor. Irene's manager tried to reason with her but being a bullet-head herself she wouldn't back down from this type of a challenge. There was no concern in her head that her manager had.

Viper was definitely a dangerous fighter if not the most. Even in her standard matches, she defied expectations and squashed all her opponents with heelish tactics. Irene was not your typical LAW girl she was more familiar with fights without any limitations, a fight to survival. Moreover, Viper was sort of an opponent she would love to go up against, she wouldn't need to hold back at all knowing that Viper wouldn't either.

"Here she comes ladies and gentlemen, from Japan! At 5'8'' and weighing 133 lbs., IRENE KANZAKI!"

As her theme song started playing, lights turned towards where she would make her appearance. Wearing her usual redhot face, she walked through the ramp down to the ring where Viper was waiting her. She slid in to the ring and stood back up, she lifted her hands greeting the spectators one last time then to return back to her corner. Once she leaned against the turnbuckles, turning towards Viper she said "Someone needed to bash the head of the snake! It appears that is on me."

There was a question, in the back of Viper's mind, as to if Irene would even show up to the match at all. Given what she had seen from the competition at LAW thus far, she wouldn't put it past her to run away, tail between her legs, at the last minute. But she was pleased to see that Irene would be making her entrance after all, as the music began to play. The green-haired girl nodded quietly as she watched Irene on the way down, cracking her knuckles and stretching out her arms with her fingers laced to warm up. If Irene could deliver on her promises, Viper thought, this might be just what she needed to really feel somthing again.

As Viper's challenger got into the ring, she crossed her arms, watching her closely. Though the crowd cheered at Irene's gestures, Viper was, as always, unmoved, keeping up a cold stare. "Go ahead, then...I'd like to see you try," she muttered, getting into a stance as she prepared for the match to begin.

"My fists will shut cocky mouth yours." she said before getting closer to her opponent. As they both had their stances up and was ready to go full out. Irene decided to make the first move as once she got into range, she would poke her opponent's guard with her controlled but fast jabs before moving to anything more dramatic. She knew, she had to be careful with Viper as she was devious.

*DING DING DING*

With both women in the ring and ready for action, the timekeeper was quick to ring the bell - but even then, it didn't take long for the action to erupt. Viper rose her fists as Irene came in closer, meeting her with a few quick punches. The first jab managed to catch Viper in the jaw, causing her to go staggering backwards with a cough. But her expression didn't change, remaining as cold and disinterested as ever, even in the face of such pain. If anything, the impact had only served to remind Viper to fight back - as she now raised her hands up to block any other strikes Irene would send her way.

Holding this position, Viper was hoping to lure Irene into coming closer, and into her range. She would fight defensively up until that point, remaining stationary and blocking any oncoming attacks - but once Irene was close enough, Viper would swing her knee toward her gut, looking to stagger her.

As her punch connected with her opponent's jaw Irene would smirk with the satisfaction. Viper staggered back with a cough but she looked almost unscathed with maintaining her cold and expressionless face. Irene's satisfaction shaded into annoyance. She hissed with annoyance before she followed Viper with more jabs which were blocked by Viper. Thinking that her punches were overwhelming Viper she advanced on Viper, getting closer to her trying to break through the her defense as Viper was on defense.

Suddenly, between her punches, Viper swung her knee which connected with her gut. She grunted as her abdominal muscles were compressed by the knee's impact but she didn't yield, throwing her own punch aiming at Viper's stomach to stagger her as well before taking a step back with one hand gingerly rub her stomach.

Viper may have been jostled, as she reeled away from Irene as the momentum of her fist sent her head back, but it didn't seem to do much more than slow her down for a few seconds. Viper had dealt with far worse in the past, and a mere punch to the face wasn't going to bother her. What she really wanted was to get Irene into range for her to strike - and, as she doubled back with her guard raised, it looked like she was lined up perfectly. With nary a warning, Viper struck with her quick reflexes, letting her knee pound into Irene's stomach, and feeling her go staggering off the impact.

The dark-haired girl remained standing, however. Viper had expected her to crumple before her as she drove the air out of her lungs, but it seemed Irene was made of tougher stuff than that. Even when she did take a step back, it wasn't before she lashed back out at Viper with a belly blow of her own, one that caused the deathmatch veteran to stumble a step backward as she bent forward to clutch her gut.

"Not...bad," Viper muttered, looking back up at Irene with her teeth clenched. "You're more resilient than I thought...hope it's enough."

She knew it would be risky in charging back into the action before the pain of the last attack had fully waned, but what was Viper if not a risk-taker? Getting back up, she raised her arm and charged for Irene, hoping to hit her with a clothesline before she was fully recovered!

Viper's knee buried itself into her stomach but that didn't stop her from retaliation, delivering her opponent a punch of her own. Her blow connected with her opponent's stomach. Even though she got hit, she believed that her blow gained her sometime to recover as the hit made Viper stumble back clutching her belly.

Yet, Irene was still recovering back the air which had been driven out of her by Viper's strike. She recovered enough to taunt her opponent, at least in Irene's terms, she was cocky enough to do that. Leaning slightly forward with one hand rubbing her belly, she lifted her fist which made the previous shot. "I wish you last long enough to enjoy my..." Viper didn't let her finish her sentence. She went back into action with her arm extended to hit Irene with a clothesline. Irene wasn't expecting her to recover from the blow this fast. She knew that there was no escaping the hit now, she lifted both her hands up, at least to avoid a hit to her neck area. With force, she was launched backwards to the ring floor and hit the mat with a grunt. She knew she had to avoid being grounded, she used the force to do a backward roll to get on one knee.

With her fist knocking into Irene's stomach, Viper managed to arrest her opponent's momentum. Now the two of them were even, and having that satisfaction was enough to make up for the stinging soreness left in Viper's abdomen, knowing that she had Irene where she wanted her. She was sure that she'd make short work of the dark-haired girl now that she was staggered - and her quick reflexes would soon come into play, as Viper charged for her foe with her arm raised to prepare a clothesline!

Irene barely had any time to get her thoughts out before Viper struck. Thinking quickly, though, she put up her hands and at least managed a block, with the deathmatch veteran's strike bouncing off of her guard. For a moment, all went still. Viper had expected to land a more crippling blow, and she was left with her momentum halted, as she stood still with her arm frozen in midair against Irene's raised arms. Irene, however, was able to fall back from the momentum, rolling away from Viper in the process before she began to rise.

Overall, Viper couldn't help but be disappointed by how things were going so far. Even when she tried to put the pressure on Irene, she was still finding her way to stay out of trouble, leaving Viper's own attacks with much to be desired. She wouldn't let her get away with this for long, and she ran after Irene with intent of inflicting punishment, drawing back a foot to swing a kick at her jaw!

Viper was an unexpected fighter. That poker face she was wearing had troubled Irene nonetheless, she was hard to read. Ceasing Irene's sentence, managing to recover that fast, rushing in with a clothesline with little to hesitation. Irene had to keep her radars up every time that was for sure. The last time she didn't showed its consequences, she was nearly grounded. She knew Viper wouldn't go easy on her or let her escape another time. So she had to keep her eyes open and keep her defense up. At least, Viper even through her emotionless face, seemed to be disappointed that her attack didn't gave the results she hoped for. Yet still, Irene was on one knee and Viper was not so eager to let her get back up completely.

Barely getting away from Viper's clothesline, left Irene on one knee. Viper swung her feet aiming at her cheek. Irene, thinking fast lifted her arms near her cheek. Viper's kick connected with her arms fortunately but she was already in disadvantageous position here. The kick made her balance go off as she was shoved aside by the force. "Ugghhh... Shit" Irene grunted as she fell to her side, hitting the ring floor.

She was immobilized for a second or two. Otherwise she would try to launch herself back up knowing that Viper might want to follow up.
