Lucha Libre Battle! Reaper vs Butterfly - Maria Castillo vs La Mariposa

After her fight with Killer King, Lisa decided to take a much deserved rest...for about a year. Arguing with LAW officials that the heinous post match attack by the monster was ground for her to rest Mariposa (and by extention, herself) up, she was granted a break for as long as she wanted...provided she would occasionally appear for house shows whenever she was needed. No matches with any opponent of similar infamy as King will be booked within her "vacation". Agreeing to those terms, Lisa mostly dedicated herself to working her second job, while often going to small indie and LAW house shows in Japan whenever she got an itch to wrestle...

...and one day, while on a coffee break in her lab (yet still doing research into a biology project she has been doing for a year), she has found a profile of a lady that particularly interested her - "La Parca" Maria Castillo. Prior to her leg injury, she was considered the best Luchadora during her time on top...up until her injury, that is. Coming back from it, she decided to join up with LAW...and needless to say, Lisa was quite interested in challenging a Lucha Libre legend to a match. As Mariposa, she had her own legacy to think about, and defeating "The Reaper" would certainly add to that.

Letting LAW know she was ready to get back from her sabatical, she immediately let them know the name of the lady she wanted to fight.

And thus, fast forward to 2 weeks later, the match getting a decent enough advertisement for Mariposa to enter to massive cheers from the crowd. Wearing her pearly-white get up, Mariposa shook, posed, and danced all the way to the ring, sending air kisses to various audience members, but all were mesmerised by her smooth movements to the ring.

Soon after, she rolled inside, taking the farther corner from the entrance as she waited for the reaper to arrive, doing stretches with her legs in the meantime...

Withing a week, Maria's entire life seemed to come crashing down around her. WHat she hoped would be a gentle resurgence into her old life as The Reaper, with matches here and there, all the while with her teaching her students. Now her greatest rival from Mexico had returned, and with her she had an army of wrestlers hell bent on ending not only her own career, but those of her close friends and students.

So when the challenge came down from a luchadora known as La Mariposa, Maria noticeably hesitated. The contest seemed innocent enough. A young fighter looking to make her name by pinning a legend. In her semi retired state before joining LAW, she truly hadn't kept an eye on the new crop of Luchadora women popping up around the globe...an error she would hopefully correct.

Unclasping her cloak from her shoulders halfway down the ramp, she threw a careful glance around, searching for signs of Raven or her students in the crowd, even while the rational part of her agued that if they truly didn't want to be seen, she wouldn't know they were there until it was too late.

Turning to the beautiful young woman before her, Maria offered a slight incline of her head, "Fight well....."

The Immortal Butterfly paid close attention to her foe as she was coming down the ramp. Firstly, she noticed that Maria looked quite well for someone in their late 30s, easily able to pass for late 20s if she so wished.

Mariposa noticed that Maria's attention was not fully on the match, looking around the crowd as she walked down the ramp. What was she looking for she wondered?

Still, once inside the ring, Maria was focused on the Butterfly, so it seemingly wasn't a case of looking past her. She nodded towards the veteran in response: "As long as you pay attention..."

Once the check up by ref was complete, she called for the bell to officially begin the match!

Mariposa and Maria circled the ring, the Butterfly carefully moving towards the middle of the ring, expecting veteran to follow suit to lock up with her in the good old collar and elbow tie up!

Maria grinned under her mask, "Hard not to pay attention when a match has my blood boiling for a fight. Wrestling is as much a part of me as breathing. Couldn't stay away senorita....."

The pair squared up, locking into a classic collar and elbow tie up. Maria's feet planted themselves firmly on the canvas, making the ring shake a little as she dug in hard, pushing Mariposa slowly to the ropes, subtly trying to guide her opponent to the corner. FIghting another luchadora had it's perks, like knowing a similar style allowed for realizing potential weaknesses. Trying to isolate one of Mariposa's legs would be a perfect starting point to gain an early advantage.

In response to Maria's words, Mariposa simply smiled warmly. Whatever was on her mind earlier seemed to have been tucked into the back once she entered the squared circle. Right now, it was all about the battle with their rival on both woman's mind.

With the two engaged in a collar and elbow tie up, Mariposa would actually start losing the lock up. Maria firmly dug her heel into the canvas, while Mariposa was forced to make steps back towards the ropes by the Reaper.

However, Mariposa would try one last trick to get the advantage on her foe, forcibly yanking on the lock up to force the two of them to spin half a revolution, in order for Mariposa to trap Maria between herself and the corner!

Maria wasn't known for her strength. She engaged in the lock up as a measure of respect to her fellow luchadora. To find she was actually WINNING such a test of strength seemed to prove that her recent training for her revival may have finally paid off! She was actually winning in encounters that she struggled with so many times before!

Of course, all of this was before the momentum was reversed, with Mariposa opting to pull instead of fight Maria's offensive, yanking and turning them both to slam Maria spine first into the padded turnbuckle! The impact shook Maria to the core, loosening her hold for the briefest of motion, but that was an eternity to someone like Mariposa. Now this was going to get interesting!

With Mariposa managing to outskill her foe in the lock up, the ref would soon be onto her. With Maria in the corner, the striped official would ask for a clean break...

...which Mariposa would cleanly grant. But, not being able to keep the small victory to herself, she blew a kiss the older women's way before stepping away to let the Reaper out of the corner, keeping a close eye in case of any sudden movement from Maria...

Maria felt the ref slide in, patting them both for the break. Slowly, the luchadora raised her arms, taking care not to make any sudden movements as to provoke a strike. But one never came...as Mariposa seemed to embrace a more honorable code than opponents that Maria was used to. That is until she decided to blow a kiss to Maria, and the veteran could feel the warm breath ghost over her face, making her cheeks flush slightly behind her mask.

Shaking her head, she pushed herself out of the corner, throwing some kicks to Mariposa's kneecaps!

For Mariposa, infatuating her opponents was a twofold thing, even if she didn't want to admit to herself, arguing that it was just a mind game, that in wrestling, every little action counted...and not wanting to admit to herself that, at times, maybe she was interested in her opponents more than as just competition.

With Mariposa stepping away, she suddenly felt stinging strikes at her knees, yelping in pain as she stepped back to the middle of the ring, trying to get Maria closer to herself...

...and once she was close enough, unleash a harsh kick to her midsection!
