Candace 'Fang' Lewis vs. Armando 'Army' Rodriguez - Nice Meeting You

Unread post by BlackAkuma »

Match Type: Standard
Victory Stipulations: Pinfall, Submission, or KO.

***

On the surface, everything was normal for Army as he came out of the gorilla position. He was all smiles, waving to the crowd as his
played, still in good shape, and it wasn’t a total act. He was enjoying his time in LAW so far. Catching up with old friends, making new ones, tangling with some familiar faces, falling into the grind of matches just like he’d done a couple years ago. It was all good, fun stuff.

But here, today, he was having a small problem. Not a big deal, but it had to do with who he was up against: Fang. Or, as she was also known, Candace Lewis.

It was that last name that he had a problem with. Back in his old federation, they’d love to put him in these family feud type matches, trying to stir the pot and get him, his sister, and his cousins into some big multi-person match. It never worked out, and it was sort of annoying that it seemed like LAW was following the same habits. He didn’t know her, didn’t have any problem with her, didn’t want to have any problems with her. You could just have a match with people, not everything had to lead into something serious.

Whatever. It was just window dressing, something to get the internet talking. He’d seen enough of Candace in action to know that it shouldn't be too big of a deal. He had no plans on acting like an asshole, she seemed cool enough.

Just be cool.

That was the mindset he had as he made his way into the ring, rolling in under the bottom rope and popping to his feet with a single, swift motion. He marched towards his corner with his fists held high, grabbed the ropes, and proceeded to do some quick stretches, trying to get nice and limber before they kicked things off.
Army, ready to go.

After giving Army a couple of minutes to get down into the ring, wow and inspire the audience, the commentator would then begin to introduce his competition for tonight. The one that he came to know as Fang, the Jungle Girl.

Fang herself didn't know much about Army. In fact, she only heard about once it was announced he was to be her next opponent. Shaking off what felt like a bit of humiliation from her match with Christina Perez, Fang was working a bit on reestablishing her reputation a little bit. But she wanted to maintain a positive side and not let herself get bogged down by drama caused by pricks. After all, she did come to LAW to have some fun.

Soon, Fang would be introduced and Army, along with the rest of the crowd, could see the jungle beauty coming down from the catwalk and towards the ring.

As her theme song played, Fang waved to the crowd and blew a few kisses at them and smiled as she made her way to the ring.

True to her jungle girl vibe, as evident by her attire, Fang gripped the rope, but used it to propel herself upwards to leap to a corner buckle of the ring. She then flipped herself and jumped over the buckle and landed in the ring, earning quite the applause. She waved and bowed at the crowd, as she looked at Army with a smile.

"Nice to meet you." Fang said, offering a handshake.

Army was just finishing up his stretches when Fang’s music started, heralding her entrance with an excited crowd. They hadn't given him a bad response by any stretch, but they were definitely more into her coming out, which figured - he’d made a big splash in the company so far, but he still had a long way to go before he was as well known a quantity to them as Fang was. Not that he had a problem putting in that time.

Winning matches like this would be a good way to do that, too, so he was fully amped for the match by the time she came into the ring. In grand style, too, leaping around like some wild jungle cat. Army had never much cared for ‘gimmicks’ in wrestling - he’d tried to lean into the boxing theme for a while, it always came off lame, and he’d dropped it soon after. But he would be lying if said hers didn’t have a cool look about it, making her stand out a bit. Was she as wild as the outfit seemed to say? He’d found out. For now…

”Nice meeting you, too. But just let me…” Army reached out, gently closed Fang’s fist, then proceeded to give it a bump. ”There, much cooler.”

He winked, stepped back, and started bouncing on his heels, working up to his rhythm before the bell even rang. ”Things’re about to get plenty rough, you ready to go?”

As they shook hands, Fang felt Army close her fist to do a bump, which got a bit of a chuckle out of there.

"From the cool crowd are we?" Fang asked in a teasing tone as she smirked. She then backed up as she got ready for the match with a quick stretch.

After that quick stretch, Fang got into a fighting stance as she waited for the bell to ring.

"I was born ready." Fang said with confidence, "Hopefully you are."

The bell rang and the crowd cheered and roared as the match began. Fang decided to make the first move and come at Army with a solid, fast and effecting technique. She attempted to go for her "Mantis Strikes" move, which a triple kick attack that started out with a kick to the gut, then a knee strike and finally a step up strike. This was to showcase her skills with kickboxing, but it would also be a nice move to start things off, if she could land the hits.

”The coolest.” Army blasted her away with dual finger guns.

He was ready to go, right then and there, though he had to take a small pause when she stretched. While he was absolutely no stranger to the female body, he’d be lying if he said she wasn’t about as impressive an example of it as you could hope to find, and whole cavewoman look put it on fine display. Despite himself, he found himself staring a little longer than he probably should’ve.

He blinked. Twice. Then shook his head. ”Sorry, lost my concentration for a sec.” Hands up, slipping into his grappling stance. ”Let’s go.”

And go she did, right away. Army was used to a slow start with these matches, with most female wrestlers being hesitant to take him head on until they had a good feel for him. Candace was braver than most - she came fast and hard straight away, closing the distance with a kick that smack him against the gut

It was a good wake up call, enough for him to block low and take the follow up knee right on his arms. He took a big step back after that, and the final knee flew past his chest, close enough for him to feel the wind.

”Okay, okay!” He tightened his fist and switched over to a traditional boxing stance, bouncing on his heels, staying light. ”She wants to dance, we can dance!”

It was Army’s turn to move, now, and he came in with the classic combo - a jab, flashing out, aimed at her face, and right cross coming in right behind it with the real power, stepping in to push her back and claim some territory.

Fang came in with her strikes. Good news. She managed to land her first kick into Army's gut. That had to hurt. Then, she went for her second kick, but that was blocked by Army's arms. Okay, so as good news there. Finally, she took a swing with her final kick and she just missed him, as it zoomed past Army's chest. Okay, now he was definitely awake and wouldn't give Fang a chance to hit him again like that so easily.

After that, she saw Army's turn to make a move. She saw the jab coming and immediately backed up. She also swerved and ducked under the right cross coming at her.

She attempted to side step and dodge him to avoid getting hit by power moves early in the match.

Army might’ve been a boxer bred and born, but he wasn’t unfamiliar with kickboxing, either, mostly thanks to his cousin. Felina had taken a different path from most of the family and gotten into kickboxing instead. While it had initially made her a bit of a black sheep, she’d come into her own well enough and gotten everyone’s support by her teenage years. A royal pain in the ass she could be, but sparring with her had earned him a lot of experience points, really leveled his game up when it came to taking on other strikers.

Candace reminded him a lot of Felina, come to think of it. Both of them had that punchy kind of attitude, a lot of spring in their step. That boded well for him, though - he could beat his cousin.

Most of the time.

Half of the time.

…maybe she was leading, slightly. He hadn't counted in a while.

Either way, he was confident enough when she started working her way around him, feeling the moment. Determined not to give her breathing room, he gave chase and lashed out again, this time coming at her with a few jabs. Lashing out, one after the other, quick and steady, creating a predictable rhythm…

…a rhythm that he broke out of nowhere, as he lunged in and tried to catch her with right hook, targeting those tender ribs.

Fang was able to duck and weave past Army's attacks. She was fast and nimble enough to avoid those hits. However, her opponent was pretty fast too and he managed to catch her with a right hook. It hit her right in the rib cage. Fang grunted in pain a bit from the blow, but did not give up. What she did instead as quickly grab that right arm one hand.

Then, pulling on that arm, and hoping Army's body was still focused on attacking rather than anchoring itself, she would yank him forward a bit. Meanwhile, she'd use that to pull herself towards him.

If this worked, then she would go for an enzuigiri, which was a high kick to the head, a very fitting move for a kickboxer.

Army wasn’t fast, but not being fast wasn’t the same thing as being slow. He knew how to manage his speed, most importantly, had learned from training not just to move fast, but to know when to move fast, when to take your best shots and catch the enemy off guard. Wrestling was a game about timing. He’d seen more than his fair share of boxers get wrecked simply because they let the right moment pass them by. Hell, he’d had a few matches like that himself.

Fang learned that the hard way, when his right hook turned into her ribs. She took it well, actually, better than he’d expected. That punch had never won him a fight, but it had brought more than a few opponents to their knees and earned him some eight-counts. She kept going, though, and even had enough left in the tank to strike back right away, grabbing his arm.

He wasn’t sure what she was going for, not at first, but he had no interest in a finding out and pulled back his other arm to land another jab. That turned out to be a mistake, as she picked that moment to leap up and strike out, smacking her across the jaw with an enziguiri, dead on target.

It was enough to spin Army all the way around and leave him staggering for a second, stunned as he tried to get his bearings.

Fang was able to land the enzuiguiri with efficient accuracy. It also helped that Army was trying to go for another jab, instead of trying to block what Fang was going to try to hit him with. This left Army staggering for a bit, and it gave Fang a bit of time and an opening. She would wince a little after the enziguiri, as she still felt her rips hurting a bit after that hit from Army just a few moments ago. She could not let that slow her down, as she made her next move.

As Army was trying to regain his senses, Fang grabbed him from behind and prepared to spin him around. This was her "Vine-Trip Up" move, as she twist her opponent around; with the intent to disorient and confuse him further.

Then, if that worked, Fang would leap up to deliver a dropkick flat on Army's chest.
