Que Sera, Sera

One step, two, three, four, five, six.

One step, two, three, four, five, six.

One step, two, three, four, five, six.

Dizzy ran the ropes of LAW’s sparring ring as she’d done a dozen times before, though, this time, she was doing it with far better success than her first attempts. It was crazy to think that she’d had so much trouble with a simple thing early in her career, but rope running had always felt weird to her with her size difference. The ring was so much bigger for her than with most wrestlers, so she had to learn how to space her steps, and where to place them so she wouldn’t get outpaced in a match or trip over herself. It had been a hard thing to get a grip on.

But now? Now, she had it. She moved from one side of the ring to the other easily, and she even managed to get in some theatrics, busting out a quick forward roll before she popped up to her feet and continued the routine. She ducked under imaginary clotheslines, sidestepped imaginary kicks, and even leaped over imaginary heads. It was all fluid, all fast, it all felt so good.

She came to a stumbling stop near the middle of the ring and took a second to catch her breath, panting hard as she took another glance at the gym’s entrance, then over to her phone, lying a few feet away on the turnbuckle. She turned her head, just enough to make out the time, then looked back to the entrance - yeah, they’d be here soon.

Dizzy took a step back and looked down, ensuring everything looked good. She’d picked out this little two-piece workout outfit for the occasion, wanting to wear something that showed off her gains better than most of her other stuff. Black with red trim, a high-cut top that exposed her midriff and displayed her proto-sixpack abs. She’d finally taken Alicia’s advice and invested in some short-shorts. While she wouldn’t put her legs in the supermodel category, they showed some excellent tone and muscle, enough for the veins to begin popping. Dizzy was never going to reach her mother’s heights when it came to body management, but she was damned proud of the way she looked these days.

Now, she just needed a certain someone around to appreciate it. As the time neared, she dropped down and did a few stretches, focusing on the ones that put her flexibility on best display…

Fucking traffic
10 mins

Gabby Soto blew a raspberry. She and Alicia had never had anything of their own to drive until they had come to Tokyo, and naturally, they found themselves in one of the traffic capitals of the world, especially at this time of day. She had figured out quickly how to manipulate parking and walk her way anywhere she needed to go, but Alicia was stubborn. Alicia believed she could beat her way through the traffic by force if need be. Alicia had failed. There was something satisfying about that, as much as it was annoying. She sent her sister a thumbs up and tucked her phone away, deciding not to state that she had "told her so."

Instead, she whipped around the last corner on a beeline for the gym. She hadn't prepared herself ahead of time for ten minutes of carrying a conversation by herself - not that Alicia helped much on that front - but Alicia also seemed to have more of a vested interest in this get-together than most. She still hadn't figured that one out. Nonetheless, it wasn't if she were meeting up with a stranger, like most everyone else here short of... Alix at this point. She and Dizzy had gotten along well at the dinner, and this had been their planned meetup. Gabby had supposed Alicia could come along, too.

Her head went on a swivel in her search for Dizzy, who was small, yes, but should have been occupying a ring by herself. She didn't spot her immediately, but only because she sheer number of people who could occupy this place at any given moment blew her mind to some degree - it was like being in a mall in California before Christmas. A sea of heads and glistening bodies and a smell of- well, she would ignore some of the smells. Fortunately, she reeled in her wandering thoughts and focused on the smallish figure dropping down for stretches within a distant ring. There she was.

Gabby dodged bodies on the way, eying Dizzy from a distance. Again, she still hadn't figured out this whole thing with her and Alicia. Alicia didn't talk about other people much in general, but she would... talk and not talk about Dizzy. She would bring her up at random - more than she did for most people - but say nothing much when Gabby pressed her. At the same time, she hardly seemed Alicia's type. Not that Alicia had much of a type. Her sister was the farthest thing from a prude, but rare was the person who "had access" to her, so to speak. That Gabby had been on more dates in her life spoke to Alicia's... pickiness? No, it wasn't that. Her reluctance, maybe. Alicia could have dated the president if she wanted. Any president.

Dizzy was pretty. Fit but not burly figure, too - Gabby could see that just walking up to her. Easygoing personality. On the smaller side. Mischievous? Maybe. None of that made any difference to Gabby, but it strangely didn't fit her imaginary shape of the person who would end up having to strap Alicia to a wall and calm her down. And strangely enough, it pleased her that the reality didn't meet expectations.

She was still making a lot of assumptions. But she tended to be right about these things.

Feeling a bit overdressed - she probably just should have stuck to the leotard she wore under her training clothes, rather than covering up - she offered a big wave once she was in spotting distance of the Italian. "Heeey! Miss Congeniality is late. She's too good to walk like the rest of us, so she's sitting in traffic."

Dizzy had been doing her best to keep an eye out for the Soto siblings without looking too obvious about it, wanting to appear as natural as possible in case they spotted her first. She opted to do some Hindu squats, allowing her the best view she could ask for with her height while also showing off her butt.

Yeah, she was a little desperate.

She paused in mid-squat and lit up when she saw Gabby, then stepped forward to find and frowned - it was just her. Ugh, she hadn't fucked this up already, had she? Was this too obvious? Was she pushing too hard? She had never tried this sort of long-term thing with someone, so there was a lot of new ground to cover, and she wasn’t sure she was doing it well.

She tucked that frown away and put on a healthy smile when Gabby spotted her, waving the younger Soto over. When she approached, Dizzy was still anxiously looking for Alicia, and it only ended when the situation was explained. Coming, but late. Good. She tried not to look disappointed or like she didn’t want Gabby’s company. While the two had only met briefly, she’d struck her as nice enough, if a little much of a wallflower for her tastes. If not for her interest in Alicia, she might even seek to change that.

Dizzy waved her over and sat on the middle rope, opening the way for her to enter the ring. ”That’s fine. We can warm up a little until she gets here. Maybe spar a bit?” She had to admit, she was curious to see what Gabby could do in the ring. And not in a sexual way, for once. ”Mom said to say ‘hi’, by the way. Said a lot of stuff, actually.” She shook her head. ”She’s mentioned you at least twice a day since you left, I swear.”

Usually, in relation to Dizzy being more like her. ‘Why can’t you dress more like Gabby?’ ‘Gabby’s such a smart young lady, you could learn a thing or two from her.’ Stuff like that. Her mother was improving in many ways with their relationship, but some things would not change. Seriously, they'd met each other for an hour, tops.

Those were some eagerly searching eyes on the Italian.

Gabby wasn’t so foolish, given her suspicions, to think she was the centerpiece of this get-together. She and Dizzy did clearly want to figure each other out a little more based on their chat while Ms. Belti had been saying… something to Alicia that had forced her sister into being outright silent the entire ride back to their apartments. That, she also wanted to know about. She was nosy. The younger Soto had learned to read people, and those eyes plainly said “well, where the hell is she?” Ugh, she had to ask about this before Alicia got here. Something had clearly happened that the big jerk hadn’t told her. Gabby also… didn’t want to watch their match together. It gave her the heebie jeebies watching her sister do that whole dumb sexy siren act.

She dropped her bag and hopped up and through the ropes with a courteous nod. “Sure thing!” While she hadn’t come expecting a ton of sparring, admittedly - it seemed like a social call, and she would be watching the other two VERY closely - she figured Dizzy didn’t intend to do anything too intense, anyway. As it was, though, she did do her stretches like a good ex-gymnast and dancer, propping one foot up on the ropes to warm up one leg, then the other.

Hearing that Ms. Belti had asked about her shook her from her concentration, though. Her face went red enough that she could feel it, so she tilted away from Dizzy. Alicia had already poked enough fun at her about being the “big bitch’s” newest daughter that she had Gabby feeling awkward about it, and hearing Dizzy bring it up only confirmed Alicia’s otherwise taunting words. She sensed she needed to apologize for this. “Sorry,” she finally said, easing back into her stretches. “I might have been the teacher’s pet a time or two. It’s just… when you’re the sister of Alicia, you get used to calming the waves she stirs with her…” She waved her hand in the air. There was no exact word for Alicia’s nonsense. But she figured Dizzy picked up what she meant - she was overly nice to make up for Alicia's... not niceness.

After giving her back a good stretch, she turned and faced Dizzy, easing toward the middle of the ring to indicate she was ready anytime. And… clearly working toward a question. She nibbled at the inside of her cheek before she chose to voice it. It sounded innocent enough, anyway. “So did you and Alicia… was it just the match where you met? She doesn’t tell me anything ever, so I have to find out about her life through other people.”

Dizzy didn’t want to give the impression that this was all just a flimsy excuse to spend more time with Alicia, but…well, that wasn’t not true. Gabby seemed nice enough. Having a circle of constant friends was a new thing for a nomad like her, and she was always open to adding to it. While they’d only known each other for a little time, she seemed like the sort of person Dizzy could be friendly with, even without the Alicia attachment.

But, yes, Alicia was the main attraction, there was no getting around that. Not Gabby’s fault. Dizzy was just being impatient, a few more minutes away from Hollywood Siren's soothing call wouldn’t kill her.

Dizzy dropped down and started a more pedestrian stretch routine, now that showing off with poses was off the table. She cross-legged and twisted about, wrenching her body from side to side, like squeezing water out of a towel. ”Alicianess?” She completed Gabby’s sentence with a smirk. As fun as she found the big Latina to be around, it wasn’t hard to imagine how some might get turned off by her. She took absolutely no shit from anyone and wasn’t the sort to back down, ever, with no apologies for who she was and what she stood for.

Admirable traits, she thought, but not everyone would see it that way. Her mother was living proof.

”You’re fine, Gabby.” She waved it off with a smile. ”I think Mom was just happy to find out that not everyone in our generation is like, well…me.”

When Gabby made her way to the center of the ring, Dizzy took the opportunity to roll on her back, bring her legs up, and rise to her feet with a quick kip-up, coming down with a little stumble. She counted it as a winning and gave her fist a little pump. She’d been working on that one for a couple of weeks, and it seemed like she could pull it off somedays and not others. This was an on-day, so she could maybe impress Alicia with it.

She bounced from heel to heel as Gabby asked her question, getting warmed up, though she slowed her rhythm as she looked Gabby’s way. She’d figured the inquiry was coming, but didn’t think they would be getting to business soon. ”Not just the match, no.” She scratched the back of her head, not sure how much to divulge. She didn’t want to be tightlipped, but she didn’t want to tell Gabby something that might bite Alicia in the butt. ”We met after and did some training together.” She bobbed her head from side to side. ”More like she trained me, if I’m being honest. She gave me a lot of good pointers.”

"Alicianess," Gabby repeated in agreement. At least Dizzy seemed to have a grasp on the unique... challenge?... Alicia presented at any given moment. They didn't make many like her, which Gabby considered to her sister's great credit and to her own tendency to stare up at said sister sometimes as if she had come from Mars. "And... well, not everyone our age is like me, either. Being the 'safe' option is practically my brand at this point."

She offered a polite, self-deprecating smile, but her mind was already chewing on Dizzy’s answer regarding the training.

Technically, it made sense. Alicia was a trainer for the company - it was the pound of flesh she had to pay to get her own time in the spotlight. But Gabby knew her sister. She imagined Alicia viewed any extra teaching, in her free time, as a chore. She didn't do "extra credit" and she certainly didn't hand out "good pointers" out of the kindness of her heart. Alicia didn't run a charity; she ran a business, and the only currency she accepted was... well, currency and advancement. She credited her sister for her ambition.

Why, then, would she have helped Dizzy? Gabby mulled the question, her mouth twisting just a fraction as she watched Dizzy bounce on her heels.

If Alicia was giving Dizzy special attention, there was a transaction happening. Gabby’s writer brain immediately started drafting the scene - a late-night gym session, a lingering touch during a hold demonstration... it was all very cliché, and Alicia hated all of those romantic tropes that Gabby adored. She also didn't have a truly lustful bone in her body even if she played a siren on TV. The puzzle pieces didn't all fit together quite yet. Gabby needed more of them, and she needed them today.

"Is that right?" Gabby asked, her tone light, though she stepped in closer, abandoning the stationary stretching for the active dance of the ring. "I think I'd be negotiating with the wall if I tried to get her to train me, so you must have done something to impress her." It could have sounded like jealousy, but she tried to ensure it sounded like praise.

She circled to her left, mirroring Dizzy, measuring the distance. If Dizzy wanted to downplay it, Gabby would just have to see for herself what kind of "pointers" Alicia had been handing out.

"Well, let's see what she taught you," Gabby challenged, stepping in to fall into a limber fighting stance, legs wide. Sometimes she still felt quite foolish, like she was playing wrestler, but she also wasn't usually the bigger woman in a twosome... and she didn't always feel the need to impress someone her sister found worth her time.

‘Alicianess’. A simple, made up word, and it spoke volumes. Dizzy could see it in Gabby’s eyes, the shy way she said it, as if the name itself brought out a reflexive sigh. While she’d only known the ‘Hollywood Siren’ for a relatively small amount of time, nothing at all compared to her own sister, that was more than enough time to get a feel for her ins and outs, her style of doing things, the way she approached life in general. Alicia left an impression on you, and she’d been leaving impressions on Gabby her whole life. Mental and probably physical, too.

They were already connecting. Good. As much as Dizzy wished Alicia was here, this was a golden opportunity to get another view on the luscious Latina. One from someone who wasn’t smitten by her and who didn’t want to clobber her.

Dizzy bounced from heel to heel, getting nice and limber. Being small and fast was one of the few advantages she enjoyed over bigger people, and she was getting steadily better at making use of it. Today would be no different.

She was steeling herself mentally, going through all the checkmarks, when Gabby’s next words caught her off guard and brought a quick laugh out of her. ”Yeeeeeah, I don’t think I could do much to impress your sister. Not for lack of trying…” She muttered that last bit, and was quick to follow it up. Didn’t want to stew in those thoughts. ”We just kind of clicked during the match, I guess. She could’ve thwomped me if she wanted to, but she went easy and we had a lot of fun.”

Dizzy made a point to make that ‘fun’ sound a lot more innocent than it really was. She got the distinct impression that Gabby wouldn’t appreciate descriptions of how she tried to make out with her sister in the middle of the ring.

She cracked her knuckles as Gabby moved into position and took a decent stance. Whoever taught her, they did a good job of the basics. ”All right, then.” She smirked and dropped down into her own stance, mirroring her opponent’s with bouncing heels. ”Let’s.”

An imaginary bell sounded in Dizzy’s head and she went into action straightaway, dashing and closing the distance. She went left and high, looking like she wanted a tie up, only to juke right and swing around Gabby’s blindside, trying to make her way behind her and pull her into a waistlock.

"Went easy?" Gabby almost laughed, though the sound caught in her throat as a noise of pure disbelief. She had never known Alicia to go easy on anyone under any circumstances, least of all circumstances where she had an opportunity to show off to a crowd. She wouldn't call her sister narcissistic, just eager to make the most of all opportunities. And with the way Dizzy worded it, it almost sounded like... flirting? Play? The thought arrived with the subtlety of a brick through a window. Alicia flirting? It seemed impossible - her sister’s version of flirting usually involved- well, she didn't know what it involved. She had seen her act, but she could guarantee she had never seen the genuine article.

She didn’t have time to parse the story unfolding in her head, though, because Dizzy was moving.

Fast. That was the first note Gabby mentally jotted down. The Italian moved like a hummingbird, darting high and left. Gabby’s eyes tracked the feint, but she bit on the fake just enough to leave her flank exposed. When Dizzy juked right and slipped behind her, Gabby realized she had underestimated the speed difference. She felt Dizzy’s arms snake toward her waist.

But if Dizzy had speed, Gabby had rhythm. Years of dance and gymnastics had wired her brain to treat movement like choreography, not just combat. She didn't panic or stiffen up. Instead, she exhaled and dropped her center of gravity, widening her stance to make herself a heavier, more awkward object to lift or squeeze. At the same time, she stepped her right foot across, planting it firmly and using her hips to block Dizzy from easily clasping her hands together. She didn't break the hold, but she muddied the waters, keeping her hips in constant, fluid motion to prevent Dizzy from securing a solid grip.

While her lower body fought for stability, Gabby capitalized on the proximity. She leaned back into the contact, acting instinctively as she reached her left arm up and back. She fished blindly but strategically, her forearm seeking the curve of Dizzy's neck to drag the smaller woman over her hip into a side headlock.

Despite the bad timing, the questions floating and the injection of adrenaline from defending herself compelled her to keep up the conversation. "What do you mean you... clicked?"

Gabby’s half-laugh made Dizzy pause for a moment, as she looked over at the younger Soto with genuine confusion. Was the idea of Alicia holding back on a girl literally half her size that hard to believe? It had all seemed so natural when they wrestled. Yeah, Alicia had gone a little rough on her at the start, but they’d quickly found their groove and made a thing out of it. It had never occurred to Dizzy that she might’ve been an exception to the rule. That, under normal circumstances, Alicia would've left her as a little sexy smear in the middle of the ring. Nonetheless, that seemed to be the implication.

It was pretty apparent that Gabby was fishing for a bit of info about Dizzy, as any good sister would do. Maybe Dizzy needed to fish back.

She carried that thought with her as she whipped into action and swung around behind Gabby, successfully getting into position…mostly. While she was able to get all the way behind her, exactly where she wanted to be, she wasn’t quite able to seal the deal. Gabby might’ve been new to the ring, but she had a good body already, and she knew how to use it. The weight distribution was on point, just managing to stop her from locking in the hold. Her fingers touched, but no clasping.

What was more, she knew what to do after that, too. Dizzy saw the arm coming her way, but alas, it was too late - she snagged her, pulled her into the headlock, and locked it tight. Not bad.

There was a time when this sort of thing would’ve put her into a panic, but that time had long passed. Dizzy kept her cool, planted her feet, and readied herself for step two, though she was still aware enough to pick up Gabby’s inquiry. ”You know…clicked.” She said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. ”We just kind of fit well together. I talk, she listens. She talks, I listen. We vibe.”

Dizzy shrugged, as best as she could, as she started to step backwards, pulling Gabby along with her. ”Is it that hard to believe? What’s she like with other people? I've only ever seen her bounce off my Mom and you, so...”

Before Gabby had the chance to answer, Dizzy pulled back hard, dragging them over to the ropes with some real momentum. She hit them, bounced off, then hit the brakes and shoved hard at Gabby’s back, attempting to pull her head free and send her foe running off to the opposite side of the ring all in one go.

“She does?”

The words tumbled out of Gabby’s mouth, more breathless from the shock than the physical exertion as she struggled to keep Dizzy in place with the headlock, to no avail. The concept of Alicia - her stubborn, bulldoze-through-traffic, my-way-or-the-highway sister - sitting quietly and listening to someone else speak wasn't that crazy. All in all, she had offered Gabby an ear when she had it to spare, though Gabby didn't find herself taking her sister's crass, rebellious advice all that often. But... it was good that she did care enough to listen.

Alicia saying enough of substance to vibe with someone didn't compute, however. They vibed. The word echoed in Gabby’s head as Dizzy surged into motion. It defied character consistency. Unless... unless Dizzy was the exception that proved the rule.

Thinking on it made her sluggish, so she put it aside as quickly as she could. But she felt the sudden shift in momentum as Dizzy hit the ropes, hit the brakes, and immediately shoved her in the back. Gabby’s grip on the headlock broke instantly, her fingers slipping off Dizzy’s jaw as she was sent stumbling across the canvas.

Her dancer’s instinct kicked in before her conscious mind did. She rode the force of the shove, letting it carry her into the ropes. She hit the cables with her back, compressing the spring, and used the recoil to launch herself forward again. She didn't fight the momentum, turning the run into a sprint back toward the center of the ring.

She had speed now, and she had questions. But first, she had to stick the landing.

“She never tells anyone anything!” she called out as she rushed back toward the Italian, her eyes locking onto Dizzy’s form to see how the smaller woman planned to receive her. "She keeps it all... bottled up." When she couldn't decide on a clear tactic, she opted to jam her feet into the canvas with a resounding clomp and lifted into a dropkick meant to make contact, not debilitate.
