Alaina was strong.

Really strong.

That would come as no surprise to anyone remotely familiar with the Amazon, but Valerie could say, with certainty, that none of them truly appreciated the power this woman could bring to bear. You had to feel it firsthand, had to experience it in full effect. Only then could you appreciate why Alaina had been on the top of the mountain for so long.

That was happening to her right now, as Valerie found herself overpowered, pushed back step after step, forced further and further away, and she could tell that Alaina wasn’t even trying that hard. She needed a change of tactics.

Valerie figured her best shot was to try and use her opponent’s power against her. Instead of pushing, she abruptly switched to pulling and yanked her opponent towards her. At the same time, she dropped to the side, scissored Alaina’s ankles, and threw her body into a hard roll, attempting to make her opponent fall forward with a drop toehold.

Alaina felt like some sort of change was coming, but it came faster than the old amazon had anticipated! She suddenly was moving forward then falling forward! She shook her head and reached her arms out to try to brace herself but the face of the amazon smashed hard into the bottom turnbuckle! Her head bounced and she rolled onto her back her hands covering her throbbing face while she kicked the mat in pain, momentarily stunned by the surprise effective reversal! She was proud of Valerie even if she was in quite a bit more pain than she had anticipated...

Okay, that wasn’t quite what Valerie’d had in mind. She would’ve been overjoyed in a regular match at an opponent accidentally falling into the turnbuckle, taking it as a lucky stroke. Here, though, they were just sparring. So…

”Oh, snap! Alaina!” She came rushing forward and knelt by the Amazon’s side, checking over her as she reeled from the blow. ”Alaina, are you okay?”

Younger Alaina... even just up to a couple years ago would have been insulted that a spar stopped because she went down hard. While she felt like it did take more to stop her she realized it was just a spar and how things must have looked to Valerie as the amazon was laid out on her back with her face throbbing. "Yeah. I am fine. We... you know what? I think we can stop and me being laid out means this round goes to you I'd say." Alaina said as she started to work her way up to her feet. "I got you pretty good and you just kept coming." She said giving Valerie a pat on the back.

Maybe Valerie shouldn't have been that concerned about the wellbeing of the woman who had just been ragdolling her around the ring with ease, but, well, she couldn't help it on her part. She was reminded of the times she sparred with her parents - yes, they went hard sometimes, but the last thing she wanted to do was cause them actual damage, and it was much the same, here. Alaina was a national treasure; you didn’t just let someone like that take a hard hit without saying anything.

Thankfully, the Amazon seemed okay, and Valerie took a long sigh of relief when she made that clear. She sat on her heels and nodded as Alaina shook it off. ”I mean, sure. If you say so.” She nodded and stood up along with Alaina, rising beside her. ”I feel like that just makes me really stubborn, but I’ll take it, sure.”

"You are tough, you are strong, you are fast and you are ready for the big time. You won this round." Alaina said trying to hammer that point home. She knew the wrestling genetics coursing through Valerie and was jealous just a tiny bit. "Maybe we'll meet in the ring at the arena sometime? That'd be something huh? I think it would be quite a showdown." Alaina added as she leaned against the corner shaking her head a couple times before looking at Valerie grinning. "I hope me going down so easily wasn't a let down or anything."

Valerie wanted to be excited about the idea of taking Alaina on - she should’ve been, she knew that. But, in practice, she wasn’t so sure she was up to the task. Alaina was in an entirely different weight class, for one thing, and while it wouldn’t be impossible for her to add on enough muscle to squeeze in with the heavyweights, she wasn’t sure how well she would do against an experienced bruiser like the Amazon.

But the notion was definitely appreciated, and she could only respond in kind. ”It wasn’t.” She straightened up and gave her a respectful bow. ”Thank you for the opportunity, Alaina-san.”

"Anytime!" Alaina replied as she nodded to Valerie. "If you ever want that match you let me know. Also if your mom or grandma ever want to step into the ring to get their old butts body slammed around just tell them to call me." Alaina added with a wink. "Not sure anyone would want to see crazy old ladies go at it but stranger things have happened in a LAW ring."

Alaina had enjoyed herself and was glad to finally have met Valerie. It was a nice way to revisit some old memories she had locked away of course but Valerie was incredibly fit, fast and strong. She was going to go far.
