That was quite a ride Muriel had taken—an Unexpected Journey, if you will.

Coming off a strong start, she knew her luck had to end sooner or later, but even she hadn't foreseen it doing so in such an abrupt manner. Ms. Pedroza had a surprising well of strength, far more than she had anticipated from the outset. While she wagered they were fairly equal in that regard, it likely had more to do with the height differentiation, with her height and build evening the field. If the two of them were equal, she suspected the advantage would be formerly in the Schoolgirl Assassin’s favor. But we all work with the advantages we are given.

Muriel was already pushing her way up a moment later, though doing so was no simple affair. The move had left her disoriented and askew, easy prey that no self-respecting predator would pass up. Sure enough, Ms. Pedroza came at her like a heat-seeking missile, every bit as fast and destructive.

The pump kick struck her chest, dead center, and sent Muriel stumbling back, her heel sliding along the mat as her arms flailed. She might very well have fallen flat, if not for the turnbuckle standing in her way. Instead, she crashed against it and stayed there, leaving against the pads as she caught her breath.
