Personality: Skylar is, to put it simply, a lot. She’s an eccentric, loud, and obnoxious woman with a crass and immature sense of humor, a quick temper, and a massive ego. While many find her hard to deal with, those tolerant enough of her flaws to become friends with her find that she’s a deeply affectionate and fiercely loyal person who will do anything for those close to her. But she feels an immense bitterness about her past, and she’s allowed that bitterness to turn her into a villain willing to do terrible things to get ahead, who enjoys using violence and fear to bend the people around her to her will. If you press the wrong buttons, you’ll find out first hand just how much of a sick monster she can be.
History: Born the daughter of a prostitute in River City, Iowa, Skylar Jones grew up in squalor, living in fear of violence and gangs. She spent most of her early childhood alone, locked up in the old, dirty little apartment they rented. Her mom was always working to keep her fed, and it felt like days she’d go without seeing her. She left the house before she woke up and came home after she’d gone to sleep. She had underdeveloped social skills and an evcentric personality that made her stick out at school, and she was viciously bullied for it. For years, that was her life, spending days home alone, being tormented, mocked, and beaten at school, being mugged in the street, ducking for cover during gang shoot outs, watching people bleed to death on the ground until one day, at 16 years old, she snapped. She tackled a girl who'd been bullying her, wrapped her hands around her neck, and strangled her. She watched the terror in her eyes, the way the color of her face changed as she squeezed the life from her throat. When she was pulled away, she saw the looks of shock and fear on the faces of those around her, and she loved it. For her entire life, she’d felt like a helpless little bug, but in that one moment, she felt like a monster, terrible and strong.
She was expelled after that. She didn't want to be a burden on her mother, so she started trying to get a job. But every job she got, she couldn't keep. Sometimes her out-there personality was deemed inapropriate, and sometimes her temper caused her to lash out. It felt like she was broken, that she was so messed up in the head that she’d never be able to do anything in her life. One night, she was at her lowest, she was at her friend's house watching TV when she saw a wrestling show and watched it. And it gave her ideas. She’d never felt more free then when she’d let loose in violence, and as a wrestler, she could make a living fighting. She may not have had money to pay for training, but she felt confident enough that she would be able to handle herself without it. She was wrong. In the local indie federation she got her start in, she spent the first few months of her wrestling career as a jobber who took beating after beating. But she never stayed down. If she had the strength to get back up, she always did, and she always went down swinging. Amanda Sterling, an accomplished veteran wrestler, saw the potential in Skylar. She saw the fire inside her and knew that with nurture, it could turn into an inferno.
She took Skylar under her wing, training her free of charge. She taught her every move and technique she knew, and imparted to her a philosophy of ruthlessness, teaching her to fight as violently and as viciously as possible. With Amanda’s guidance, Skylar quickly grew stronger and stronger, and soon she was winning just about every match she had. With her newfound strength, she was more bold. Back home in River City, any man who tried to mug her was bludgeoned with his own gun, and any gangster who acted tough in her vicinity was beaten until he could no longer stand. She started to be feared in both the streets and the ring, and she loved it. As she won fight after fight, match after match, tournament after tournament, her ambitions grew. She’d started out weak and poor, but now, she had the chance to climb to the top of the world, to be far above any gang lord. She wanted to be rich, she wanted to be acclaimed, recognized as the greatest wrestler to ever live, and there were few lines she wouldn’t cross in order to achieve that goal. Consumed with pride and greed, she cheated and brutalized her way to the big leagues, determined to become a legend.
Relationships
Maya Jones (Mother): Despite their circumstances, Skylar and her mother have always been close. Skylar recognizes the things that Maya went through to care for her, and she's determined to pay her back for it all. On Maya's end, though she loves her daughter dearly, a part of her is horrified of what Skylar has become, and wonders to what degree she should hold herself responsible.
Orime Akasa (Girlfriend): Skylar and Orime started dating after hitting it off in an exhilirating match that finally got Skylar to come out of her transparent closet. The contrast between the cute and bubbly Orime and the crass and loud Skylar is obvious, but the two love each other. Sky doesn't feel like a scumbag like herself deserves Orime, but for better or worse, Orime is always willing to take the good with the bad.
Kyra Alvarez(Childhood friend): Skylar and Kyra met when they were both in elementary school. They were both outcasts and the victims of bullying, but they stuck together and have remained close friends into their adult lives.
Sakura Tanahashi (Student): Skylar met Sakura when she was just 17, and took her under her wing. On some level, she thinks Sakura is misguided for looking up to her so much, but it does make her happy. When Saku turned 18, she became Skylar's student in the young lioness program, and Sky hopes that she can guide Sakura to be a better person than herself.
Huang Nuo (Friend): Nuo was the first friend Skylar made when she came to Japan for LAW. The two were roommates for a while before Skylar figured out her own place to live in the country. Early on, Skylar was incredibly protective of Nuo. If she percieved someone as so much as disrespecting her, she'd come after them, much to Nuo's chagrin. However after witnessing a major victory of Nuo's, she learned that the girl could fight her own battles, and has since become more level headed with her overprotectiveness in general. She's incredibly proud of how much Nuo has grown as a wrestler.
