It was a slow night at the Lincoln apartment, and Troy preferred it that way. This week had been, to put it in the nicest way, tumultuous.
Betsy could be a handful in the calmest times, but when she was dead set on doing something crazy, she was close to impossible to deal with, and that was the state she’d been in ever since she got back from Tia’s beating. Getting her to take a few days off in bedrest was a challenge by itself, with her always trying to get up and do things for herself the moment Troy turned around. Even when she’d been lying still, she kept going on social media, trying to call Tia Harris out, talking all kinds of smack and getting the fans riled up. It got the point where Troy had to shut the WiFi off just to keep her from inviting Harris to their apartment for some kind of impromptu hardcore match.
So there was a lot of back and forth, and way too much argumentation for his liking. But now it was Saturday, things had calmed down enough, and they had the chance to reset things. Betsy was good enough to walk around now, and she’d gone off for a light workout. When she got back, he planned to have a little surprise waiting for her.
”So deep in my heart that you’re almost a part of me…”
The kitchenette was sizzling and steaming, filled with a fragrant scene of lasagna. His speciality, and one Betsy’s favorite foods. It was his go-to for a makeup meal, and he was hard at work on it now, stirring up pasta while he listened to some Sammy Davis Jr. on the radio. She’d come home, clean up, then they could have dinner and hash things out with a nice, rational discussion between husband and wife.
”-coming down to the ring! What’s this about?!”
Troy perked up at the sound of his television from the living room. He’d had it on, just a little extra background noise while he worked, and it was tuned into LAW. Not that anything of interest was on the card, but he figured it couldn't hurt to keep an eye out, just in case something popped off. Lo and behold, that seemed to be the case.
With the bowl in hand, he peeked around the corner to see what the announcers were freaking out about. It seemed like someone was coming to the ring for an impromptu promo. Not that big of a deal itself, exactly. But the person making her way down to the ring had a familiar look to her.
Blonde.
Shapely butt.
Dressed like an American flag.
”…no.” His jaw dropped so low it threatened to dislodge. ”No, no, no, goddamn it-”

Betsy made her way down the ramp with a microphone in one hand and a kendo stick tucked under her shoulder, slapping a few hands along the way and vibing off the crowd’s cheers. They were pretty receptive for a crowd that hadn't even seen her in action yet, probably because they had a good idea of why she was coming out here and what it would lead to. The internet had been buzzing with little rumors about, speculating what her next step would be, and well, they were about to get their answer. Here's Betsy!
Betsy made her way to the middle of the ring and turned to face the hard camera, making sure she was looking at it proper. It had been a good while since she’d done a promo, but she still remembered the motions.
”So. Short story. A week or so ago, I was going to come out here and have my debut match. Nothing serious, just a fun thing, when all of the sudden, BAM. A wild bitch attacks!” She threw up her hands, confused. ”Why? Well, see, me and this bitch - Tia Harris, lame name, I know - bumped into each other backstage and had a little…I guess an argument? I said stuff, and she said this weird garbled mess back. ‘Cause she’s Australian. And I could’ve sworn they spoke English in Australia, but I guess not.”
Betsy tapped her chin for a moment, thinking, then lightened up with a realization. ”Maybe it’s not a language thing at all. Maybe you got mollywhopped by the Amazon so hard that she left you with a speech impediment. If that’s the case, don’t worry!”
She took a step back and pointed towards the curtains. ”I know you’re here, Tia! I’ve still got a debut to get out, so why don’t you come down here, we’ll have a match, and I’ll knock the sense back into you with this kendo stick!”
The crowd was definitely down with that, and she rallied them even more when she stormed around the ring, pumping her fist into the sky. Good audience, good energy. It’d make beating up Tia that much sweeter.
