"Sh...shimatta..."

Kyo didn't often swear. It was a personality trait that a lot of people picked up on, and seemed to reinforce his image as a soften spoken, courteous warrior, raised in the genteel traditions of aristocracy. In that regard, he took after his kendo champion mother: his wrestler father had had a colorful lexicon of swear words that he emploted liberally, in and out of the ring.

But in this instance, the lingering pain in his shoulder was enough that he couldn't help but curse. He rolled away from Valley, clutching his shoulder, face burning red at the fact that he had already lost a second fall to her. The score was now two nil, and he was rapidly trailing behind. Not for the first time tonight, the thought crossed Kyo's mind that he simply could not defeat this woman.

He banished the thought. Grimacing, he rolled up to his knees. Valerie was holding back, recharging. Waiting for him to make the first move.

And so he obliged her and sprang forward. His arm was still hurting, and would probably be out of commission for a few minutes. So he improvised, rotating his whole body to swivel around and deliver a kick to his opponent's chest, face or midsecrion-- he wasn't particularly aiming, he just wanted to catch Valerie by surprise.

God, Kyo was so cool.

Most guys in this situation would be ready to give up. She’d just put him down, twice, in back-to-back victories. He was battered and broken, looked like a total mess. She’d put him through hell, and a reasonable man, not even a coward, would see that this match was all but done and throw in the towel. At the very least, it would’ve hampered their spirit—some hesitation. Something.

Not Kyo. He stood up, gathered himself and came straight towards her, full steam ahead. It was kind of hot, if she were being honest. She was still going to put him down, but…

She moved in to meet, raised her arm, and swung it at his head, wanting to hit him with a lariat to put him back on the mat, but Kyo was just a touch quicker on the draw this time - he swiveled out of the way and left her swinging at air. She stumbled forward, spun about and-

A kick to the face, right on the bridge of her nose. The sheer alacrity of it took her off guard more than the pain, and she stumbled back a couple of steps before regaining control. The moment she did, she was back on him again, whipping her arm out wide to hit him with a backfist to the jaw.

Kyo had seen more than a few matches of the senior Valley Doll in action (including all of her bouts against his father, in preparation for this match). The woman had been a terrifying striker, and her Pele kick was the stuff of legend. Kyo was no slouch in the strikes department either, but it would have been the height of audacity for him to compare himself to her. Or, for that matter, to copy one of her moves.

All the same, Kyo felt himself slipping into an almost learned rhythm as he rotated his body and snapped a kick up, hammering his boot right into the bridge of Valerie's nose.

His heart leapt a beat as his blow hit home, actually staggering Valerie backwards. Before he could follow up, however, Valerie was suddenly moving quickly as well. In a blur of motion, the back of her fist crunched into his jaw.

He grunted in pain, the blow sending him stumbling sideways. He was determined not to lose this contest, though:.his drunken stumble turned onto a spin, his palm straightening into a blade shape as he whirled around,.trying to swipe at Valerie's forehead or chest with a forearm chop!

God, Valerie never did like being kicked. You would think, being trained by the elder Valley Doll and all, that she would’ve gotten used to it, like being kicked was something you just built up and immunity to over time, but no. She could very much attest to the opposite. No matter how many times her mother thumped, and oh were there so many times, it just never sucked any less.

Valerie could also say that Kyo’s kicks were top-notch - maybe not as good as her mother’s but definitely in the upper echelon and good enough to ring her bell. Her return fire was more an act of desperation than anything, knowing she needed to lash out with something.

It hit. A solid hit, too. Valerie was eager to move in afterwards, thinking she might have a shot at following up with something substantial, but she paid for that exuberance when she walked face-first into another chop, right on the bridge of her nose.

She’d managed to come back from the kick, but this blow was enough to push her over the edge. She stumbled over to the ring side of the ring and shook her head, too stunned to throw anything back for the moment.

That did it: Kyo's chop struck the bridge of Valerie's nose like an axe blade, a single focused blow that rattled her skull like a bird cage and discombobulated her. The blonde went staggering backwards, stumbling to the side of the ring, her momentum now lost.

Kyo had no intention of letting her regain it.

Doing his best to ignore the lingering hurt in his own body, Kyo sprang forward after Valerie, aiming to spear a shoulder into her midsection and pin her to the ropes. The moment Valerie doubled over, Kyo would wrap an arm around her head, kick his legs up against the middle rope and push back, aiming to quickly and decisively slam the amazon face-first into the mat!

Even through the haze of battle, Valerie could smell the faint scent of iron in the air - that chop had bloodied her nose. Not broken, she was sure of that, but enough damage to open a vein and bring a little color into the match. Not too big of a deal, nothing that would be a huge problem for this match, but it would serve as a constant reminder of just how dangerous Kyo could be. As if she needed it.

With momentum in his favor, he seemed focused on retaining it at all costs, closing the distance before she could even think of pushing away. He targeted her stomach again with a stiff tackle, doubling her over, putting her in perfect range for her head to be seized, and then…

She couldn't tell exactly how from her vantage point, but her face was rammed into the canvas with no small amount of force, driven into the unforgiving surface like a stake. She flipped forward, arms flailing, and came down for a hard splat on her back.

Oh wow. That had worked better than intended.

Originally, Kyo had aimed to bulldog Valerie face-first into the mat just to stun her and hopefully open the door to wearing her down with a submission hold or two. What he hadn't expected was for the blow to completely flip her the way that it had, sending her crashing down on her back in a dazed, groaning heap. The crowd went wild at that moment as Kyo suddenly mounted a strong, decisive comeback after having been tossed around like a ragdoll by Valerie for two whole falls. With the blonde powerhouse now groaning at his feet, the match had most definitely been turned around.

And Kyo wasn't about to let Valerie regain her momentum. Moving after the downed blonde, Kyo would kneel behind her and grab her head to pull her into a seated position. Once there, he would slide an arm around her head, tucking her under his armpit so that her head was forced to arch backwards. At the same time, he would move to trap one of Valerie's arms under his, while sliding a boot forwards so that it pressed against one of her thighs, to prevent her from rolling or kicking out with that leg.

And with that, he would wrench back, aiming to wear Valerie down with a nice dragon sleeper. He didn't expect to knock her out, but if it left her nice and woozy, all the better.

The noise Valerie made as she started to sit up was equal parts annoyance and anger, directed at herself more than anything. She couldn’t be mad at Kyo - as always, the man played a straight game, giving her nothing she could complain about. No, the fault lay with her, as she let her cockiness screw away the best advantage she could’ve asked for. Even though she was still willing, that fact alone was enough to grind her gears.

She was determined to get back on track, but Kyo was even more determined to make sure that didn't happen. He was on her before she could rise all the way, catching her with an inverted facelock and cranking her head back at an obscene ankle. As bad as that was, the foot on her thigh was arguably worse, and having her arm trapped just made the situation desperate. A dragon sleeper, and an expertly applied one at that.

Valerie went into a struggling fit, but she knew that wasn’t going to get anywhere. Running low on options, all she could do was try to pull them close to the ropes with her spare leg, hoping she could get close to touch it with her free arm. If that even worked, it would take a while, and any time spent in a hold this dangerous was too long.

A dragon sleeper: a move that Kyo had had plenty of experience practicing, and knew that in right situation it could really wear down the opponent. Right now, Valerie's air circulation was cut off, and her neck and upper back were being stretched painfully. She would either panic and exert a lot of energy trying to free herself, or slowly and methodically try to escape, and thus lose several extra seconds of air in the process.

Valerie chose the latter option, reaching out with one of her powerful legs towards the ropes, trying to snag it. Kyo, for his part, knew that the rope break was inevitable, and maintained the hold for all it was worth, cranking Valerie's head backwards, squeezing her tightly under his arm to make sure she was extra uncomfortable.

Then, finally, she snagged the rope. Kyo released her, not waiting for the ref to tell him to do so, and grabbed at her head to pull her to her feet. As he did so, though, he made sure to hammer a knee up into her midsection, just to keep her out of breath as she would be undoubtedly be gasping for air at this point.

And then, with Valerie standing, he would slide one arm around her shoulder and another around her thigh, and try to lift her up off her feet...before dropping down to knee and allowing his elevated opponent to slam, back first, against that knee. He had started to work on Valerie's back, and best strategy so far was to keep at it now, and at this stage he could not afford to hold back against her, no matter how brutal the move.

You never really noticed how big a standard ring was until you had to drag another human being through it with only your legs. It was only five or so feet to the ropes, if that long, but god, did Valerie feel every inch of it. Kyo made sure of that as he cranked the hold along the way and pulled her into an obscene angle, putting her frankly poor flexibility to the test.

Almost there, almost, just a little more, and-

Got it!

She grabbed the rope, and Kyo predictably let go without hesitation, something she was grateful for. What she was a little less grateful for, though, what getting kneed in the stomach as she rose, knocking the wind out of her and killing any hopes of mounting a counterattack.

He moved fast after that, lifting her up and bringing her down for a hard slam on the back of his knee. It would’ve been extremely unpleasant under normal circumstances, but with the damage already done to his back, it was excruciating, forcing her to cry out as she was stretched. It was all she could do to push at Kyo’s chest and roll herself off his knee, flopping to her chest at his feet while she kicked her legs and winced.
