On Being Humbled

Lauren groaned and winced, realizing her weight is the only thing that had won things for her instead of it being her power or ability to kick out. She shook her head and hobbled up trying not to look like she was in agonizing pain. "I.. I am fine." Lauren said. Her victory seemed a bit hollow but she at least managed to come out on top in something which did feel good. She looked around across the gym and then back at Drifter.

"All right... what else do you want to try to do?" Lauren said. "We need a tiebreaker don't we?" Lauren asked as she wondered what they could do. Drifter lost the last contest so it was now up to her to decide what the tiebreaker could be. Lauren just hoped it was something she could win!

"I actually didn't think that far ahead. Let me have a lil' think and I'll see if I can come up with something neat." Drifter confessed, she remained on her knees for the time being next to Lauren who was yet to rise. She was glad that the larger woman was alright. For a moment the Canadian was worried she might have hurt her. Still, Lauren looked to be largely alright despite the pained expression, and her words meant she was eager for another challenge at the very least.

"Well... we could either have another challenge or perhaps a spar? Doesn't have to be anything too intense. For a challenge I was thinking perhaps a submission move of choice and we can see who lasts the longest... where as a spar... well... that's pretty self explanatory I guess." Kay spoke with a little giggle. Her expression changed however when she noticed Lauren was not really making eye contact with her. Despite picking up the victory in the last challenge, Kay could not help but notice that Lauren did not seem all too pleased, looking somewhat distant..
"Everything alright? You seem a little distracted. We can do something else if you fancy?" Kay asked with clear concern in her tone.

Lauren sat up, staggering to her feet as she shook her head. "Oh of you want to spar I will spar!" Lauren said. She wanted to prove herself and she wanted to do it against Drifter when she was all in.

"I am going to go at it like it is a real match, standard rules. You better not hold back either!" Lauren said although she was worried. Was this scrawny little lady really the beat wrestler between the two of them? Part of Lauren really worried that was in fact the case. Lauren began walking to the ring as she tried to look as confident as she could!

Kay managed a pleasant smile though she was still a little concerned for Lauren. When asked if she was alright, Lauren simply avoided the question all together, instead opting to have a full contact spar with Drifter. Kay was not too keen on something so intense, hoping to do something a little more friendly than attack Lauren and have her do the same to her, but it seemed the heavyweight was more than content to go all out.
"Standard rules. Sounds good to me. Do we really have to go all out though? I was hoping to use this time to get to know you more. I don't know how well I'll be able to speak to you when you start slamming me all over the ring." Kay spoke, her tone light hearted as she took a few paces back and picked up her guard.

It really was not in Drifter's nature to go all out in a spar... She felt a little concerned for Lauren, sensing doubts in her. She looked and acted out of sorts, as if trying to prove something to herself.
"Hey... You don't have to prove anything today you know? If our match is still in your head, I think you ought to know that the better wrestler lost that day. I got lucky, that's all. Instead of trying to kill each other, how about we train together? Get better together!" Kay suggested, her guard only half up as she was eager to get to know Lauren.

Lauren listened to Drifter and nodded. "Well, okay we can do that." She said as she decided to try things Drifters way.

She did offer to start a lock up and grapple to open things up, looking to transition in to a standing side headlock on the lightweight! "So.... why do you wrestle?" Lauren asked as she held Drifter in place applying a fair bit of pressure!

Kay felt some form of relief when Lauren agreed to her terms, though when she managed to grasp Kay with a headlock, it did not feel she was holding back all that much. Drifter grimaced as Lauren expertly transitioned the grapple into a successful headlock, keeping Kay's head pressed against the side of her chest with a powerful arm, bringing the lightweight to near bend down. She wrapped her arms as much as she could around Lauren's torso, looking to keep herself up and relieve some of the pressure of the basic yet effective hold.

"Uugh... Ow! Wh... why do I wrestle?" Drifter yelped out, clearly in significant discomfort as she tried to struggle her way free. Given she had agreed to have a somewhat eased spar, Kay did not want to start unloading bombs into Lauren's body. Instead she tried to think a little more cleverly, wondering what Clara Gaster would do in such a situation. With that in mind she tried to send a light kick towards the back of Lauren's knee, in hopes of potentially misbalancing the larger heavyweight.

"That's... actually more of a personal question than you could have.... known. I won't give... uugh... you the long version... but... agh! I'm wrestling... to make money... so I can keep the orphanage that brought me up... from closing down..." Kay whispered. She left out a lot of details, such as her prison time and another more personal matter of why she wrestled... She would have to get to know more about Lauren before she could have any confidence sharing more personal details.

"What about you? What inspired Lauren.. ack!... Fredericks to get into this game?" Kay asked, trying to press against the back of Lauren's knees with one of her legs as she pulled with her head.

Lauren heard Drifter and grit her teeth, keeping the headlock held. However the kicks to the back of her leg made her stumble and the pressure applied sent her crashing down onto her belly! "Oomph! I am tired of being a nobody waitress. I am big and watched wrestling.. I figure I would be good at it, better than I ended up being anyway." Lauren said crawling forward trying to rise back to her feet. She didn't want Drifter going back on the offensive but right now the big lady was scrambling to simply rise to her feet as she gasped for breath.

"Y-you are pretty good so I think you made the right call." Lauren said as she rose, really having to admit that the lightweight was the better wrestler in the ring, making Lauren's challenge to come out on top that much tougher even in a more casual spar.

Drifter rubbed the back of her neck, feeling the effects of Lauren's headlock. For a moment she thought the larger woman might have tried to pull her head off like popping the cork on a Champaign bottle. Luckily her head still remained on her shoulders. Kay rotated her neck to work out some of the kinks caused by her powerful grip, before she slowly took a fighting stance, watching as Lauren just about got to her feet.

"Hey. You're pretty good yourself you know? You've certainly got the drive and the ability! You're like... super strong! I'm no expert... but I think you just lack a bit of self esteem and maybe a bit of cardio." Drifter spoke honestly. Her compliments were just as honest as her critiques of Lauren's work.
"You don't have to have a figure like Eve Summers to have cardio! It's something you can build on with a little time and your ability. How about you and I start having some swimming sessions together once or twice a week? We could work together." Drifter offered, waiting for Lauren to fully rise.

Once Lauren had rose, Drifter moved in swiftly, looking to try and plant a kick into her side. She pulled the blow last minute, not going full force, but still giving enough power to make Lauren think twice about taking another. Plus... there was a chance Lauren could block or catch her leg if she was quick enough.

Lauren nodded to Drifter. "Thanks. I mean you beat me so... I really can't find much weakness in your... oomph!" Lauren groaned as she took the kick still doubling over and stumbling about as her thighs shook with each step.

She tried to to recover, stepping up to swing a forearm smash into Drifters chest at about 75% of her match speed and strength!

Kay moved in swiftly, watching as Lauren doubled over after taking the kick to her side. Her intent was to try and capture Lauren's neck with an underarm, no doubt looking to follow through with her attacks by landing a DDT if she could. However, as she approached the heavyweight, Lauren managed to fight through the worse of the pain with a grimace, stepping up and swinging a large arm towards Drifter.

Already in a forwards motion, the lightweight could do little as Lauren managed to clash her arm against her chest. Though it wasn't her full strength, the size difference between the two and the momentum of both ladies being carried into their form ended up sending Kay back hard, driving her down onto her back against the mat. Kay bounced, and grunted, before coughing a little, clearly caught by Lauren very well!
"Ooof... Hell... nice hit!" Kay yelped out, beginning to stagger up to her feet.
