Blair Yuen [D] vs. Finlay Zeffer - Last One Standing Match

With her close attention to her surroundings, Blair was keen on how Finlay had gotten a grip on her a moment before and pulled her into range for a short-arm clothesline. She'd seen how he had done it, and with her arm still clutching his, she knew well enough that she was in just as good a place to launch such an attack as he was! As soon as she pulled herself back to her feet, using Finlay's support to ground herself, Blair was quick to throw another move of her own, striking out with a well-placed knee to his jaw!

Blair was satisfied knowing that her blow had landed, but it didn't show on her face, her gaze fixed ahead of her as she watched her opponent. She knew she couldn't let down her guard until the match was over; only then could she safely enjoy the fruits of her labor. With Finlay thrown backward in an arc, Blair turned her attention up to focus on him. She let go of his arm, preparing to close in - only to soon discover that he was still on his feet!

For the space of a single heartbeat, Blair froze, her eyes going wide as she stood fixed in the stance she had assumed. She was so used to her own strength that she had expected Finlay to go down, if not after one knee than certainly after two. But he had stabilized himself yet again! His stamina was impressive, and Blair's attention had been grabbed. It had been grabbed just long enough for her to let down her guard - something Finlay was sure to make her pay for!

With his fist flying back toward her, Blair felt the blow clip her in the chest. Coughing and sputtering, she was thrown backward, landing flat on her back.

"One!" the referee began to count. But Blair wouldn't be down for long, as she quickly pushed herself up from the mat on her elbows. Her eyes narrowed at Finlay. One thing was for sure; he could hit hard!

Blair was tough, that was for sure. Her natural strength and apparent will power forcing him to push himself off the bat just to knock her down in a simple contest of strikes. But thankfully Blair’s weakness, in this fight at least was the vast difference in size between them. The moment his arm came crashing forward again and struck into Blair’s chest the girl lost their little contest and found herself flat on her back for the first fall of the match.

Of course however Blair wasn’t one to stay down long, in fact it looked like he was barely to get the one count from the girl before she immeditely shot herself, already back in her firm stance. Her determination burning in her eyes, bringing a small smirk to his face. He liked her. Off the bat no less, something rather rare for him to say about anyone he had met.

Appreciating her determination, and finding himself enjoying their little contest of wills, thus he was willing to give her a freebie of sorts. ”I got three shots and you only got two.” He said raising his arm and giving her a come at me gesture. “Give me you’re best shot, it’s not something I do often so make it count.” He said with a smirk at her. Enjoying their little contedt and wanting Blair to have a fair shot before they continued their match in earnest.

Blair was strong when it came to strikes, and she was quick enough to keep them coming with the force she'd need for optimal effect. Her fists, feet, knees, and elbows were deadly weapons, as Finlay would already have seen. But she was still fighting someone outside her weight class, and that went both ways. Not only was Blair finding it difficult to bring him down with moves that would have felled smaller foes, but when she took a hit herself, she felt it.

The forearm struck her straight in the chest, and her footing gave out from under her, leaving her to fall back. Blair clenched her teeth as she landed with a groan, but she was far from being out. At this early stage of the match, being knocked down only made her more determined to make her next move count. So too, Blair now knew what she was dealing with in her opponent, and she could plan accordingly. She was quick to get back on her feet, and to get her head back in the game.

But she still had to tilt her head to Finlay's offer. "You're just...handing me this one, hm?" She saw the respect Finlay had for her, but she had to question his judgment - did he know what he was getting into? Still, she saw her chance, and she wasn't going to pass it up. A smile crept across her face as she stepped closer to him. She knew just the thing. "Then I'll make it count, all right..."

With that said, Blair was quick to whip herself around on one foot, throwing forth the other, as she looked to connect a roundhouse kick!

Finlay watched as she got back up and tilt her head in confusion. He understood it completely, mostly because he would be as well. ”Like I said I’m just being fair. Don’t get the wrong idea, but give me your best shot.” He said with a determined expression on his face as he braced himself for a attack. He knew Blair was strong, and just because he was giving her a free shot didn’t mean he was doing it without defending himself. No if. Blair wanted to knock him down she needed to put her all into it.

Watching her turn in place he raised a eyebrow, having expected her to go for another knee strike. But she was a striker and wanted to make a strong impression so it made sense to him. As she turned he saw her leg beging to swing up and around, gradually coming closer to his chest as she picked up more and more momentum. Soon before he could register any other though her heel made impact with the center of his chest. Like dynamite a explosion of pain went off in his chest as he was sent flying off his feet.

Sailing a few feet backwards Finlay soon landed with a small slide as he skidded back with a soft groan of pain as tbe ref immediately moved over to start the count. “One!!!” The ref called slapping the mat, but before he could continue with the count Finlay was already making his way back to his feet. Wincing a bit as he held his chest but he got up relatively easily despite the still aching pain in his chest. “Alright.. good shot. Now lets see what else you got.” He said as he put his hands up and started to circle her.

Blair might have been confused by what Finlay was offering her. After he had taken a glancing blow from her not too long ago, she wasn't convinced he would willingly submit to another. But she quickly shrugged her shoulders as she shook the aches out of her body, getting her head back into the game and taking a stance. She couldn't exactly pass up an opportunity for a free hit, and it was her debut match, after all - which meant Blair had the perfect opportunity to really show off what she was capable of.

Roundhouse kicks were one of the more devastating moves in Blair's arsenal. If there was a drawback to using them, it was the time and effort they took to set up. But that was no issue when she had an opponent willingly offering himself! And sure enough, her attack didn't disappoint. Her foot flew into Finlay's chest with so much strength that, as Blair came back around, she saw him fall to the mat!

If Blair was a more self-serving person, she might meet this sight with a smirk or some self-indulgent celebration. But if Blair was doing something for herself, it was only to hone her own fighting skills. This match still wasn't over, and she wasn't letting her guard down, as she got right back into a stance. She closed in on Finlay as he rose, readying to throw herself back into the fray.

Nodding toward Finlay in recognition of his praise, Blair raised her fists. "Of course," she said, lunging forward then and there to throw a swift jab in toward his stomach.

Grunting from the aftershock of that roundhouse kick as he stood to his feet Finlay nodded toward his opponet as he resumed his stance. A part of him regretted letting her have that freebie, but at the same time he felt they were even now, and that he did the right thing as far as sportsmanship goes. At least in this instance and agaisnt this opponet. Had it been anyone else or had Blair been acting like his run of the mill competition he doubt he would have shown the same courtesy.

In any case they both had one fall over eachother leaving eachother in a relatively even position against one another as they stared eachother down from their position across from eachother. She had already nodded to his words and responded with one of her own. Nodding in return he watched as she sent a jab at him. Narrowing his eyes he would side step the blow and attempt to dash forward at her side, attempt to wrap his arms around her midsection, pinning one arm against her side if it worked. Should he be successful in doing so he would throw himself back to try and suplex Blair onto her shoulders.

With Finlay getting back up to his feet, the match was back on even ground. Blair looked up at him, her eyes narrowing in a focused glare. Though the difference in size between the two fighters was noticeable, Blair had clearly shown herself capable of making up for it thanks to her knowledge and skills. The match could easily go in anyone's favor now.

Blair stepped closer to Finlay as she raised her fists, readying her next move. She held the edge on him, and she wasn't intent on relinquishing that any time soon, as she prepared to meet him head-on. She threw her fist forward, but Finlay's reactions proved quick - and he managed to swerve to the side, avoiding the blow! Blair had just enough time to turn her head and look to the side, gauging her foe's position, when she felt Finlay throw his arms around her, holding her in place.

"Rrgh..." Blair groaned in frustration, trying to twist and turn in his clutches. This wasn't a place where she could shine - while she was a striker through and through, Finlay was a grappler, and in that respect he had a leg up on her when it came to holds. Blair could only hope to break his grip if she wanted to take control - and unfortunately for her, Finlay was quickly overpowering her. Though she tried to throw a kick behind her, it was too late - Finlay had already pulled her off the ground, throwing her back through the air, where Blair landed with a thud that shook the canvas! She grimaced in pain, but she had been left shaken, and open for further attack.

As Finlay arched his back throwing his opponet through the air the blonde was already planning his next move. Blair was a skilled and dangerous opponet, one Finlay wasn’t keen on underestimating. Thus he wasn’t gonna give the girl time to recover, not on the slightest. Hell if anything the constant struggling she was giving him fron her trapped position was rvidence of how tough she was.

Luckily for him the struggles were for nought as he threw himself back, bringing Blair down with him and successfully driving her into the mat with a suplex! Relesing the hold and letting Blair go Finlay would then push himself to his feet ready for his next move. Running to the ropes he would turn on his heel and hit the ropes backfirst, bouncing off them launching himself at Blair. Leaping up as he neared he would attempt to come down on her wkth a double knee drop to her sternum!

Finlay, as it seemed, had touched upon Blair's biggest weakness. Though she'd had some experience in both wrestling and MMA, the fighting style where she truly excelled was the one based entirely around striking, with no grapples or throws short of the clinch. Even if she'd had to adapt to the new venues she found herself in, Blair still prefered to stay on her feet whenever possible, and found herself out of her element when things went to the ground. Yet here she was, falling on the mat with a wince as she clenched her teeth in frustration. Blair was vulnerable here, and she knew it. She needed to get away, to a more advantageous position. The Muay Thai practitioner pushed herself back up on her elbow, trying to crawl away.

But she couldn't move quite fast enough - especially when being hurled into the mat had taken the stamina out of her. Though she was successful in clearing some distance away from Finlay, he was already setting up his next attack, as he bounced off the ropes and came back at her - where he jumped up to land a knee drop directly onto her chest!

"GHHK-!" Going rigid from the impact as her teeth clenched, Blair bucked up from the ground before flopping onto her back. For now, she was stunned, the pain in her chest not going away any time soon - and bearing Finlay's weight on top of her didn't do her many favors either!

‘Hm she doesn’t seem to good at grappling. Guess she spends all her time training ber strikes.’ The blonde thought to himself as he looked down at the barely getting up Blair as he ran towards her. ‘That only works to my advantage though.’ He continued internally as he leaped up, intending to come down knee first on Blair’s vulnerable chest.

As he soared through the air Finlay idly considered the risks of this type of move. But he pushed it down, knowing his opponet was vulnerable. Thankfully Fin’s brazeness paid off in spades as he crashed down knee first on Blair’s chest, flattening her down into the mat with a scream of pain from the girl being illicited as he did so. Normally he would hbe gone right for a pin but this was no normal match, it would only end when one of them didn’t get up.

That’s why Finlay decided to move right onto a move that would insure Blair wouldn’t get back up. Taking advantage of his vantage, as well as Blair’s apparent weakness for the more technical aspect of wrestling, Finlay would shift his position and roll them to the side while grabbing Blair’s left arm. Wrapping one leg around her arm and behind her head, his other leg wrapped around the front of her head as he hooked his ankles together to lock in a triangle headlock.
