A part of Kyo had no idea how he was still standing after that elbow. If felt like being slugged in the head with a baseball bat (which, unfortunately, he had experienced before), and judging by how sore his forehead was feeling and the way his left eye was barely opening, he was pretty sure the blow had left an ugly bruise. He had no idea what was keeping him going, but...no, scratch that, he knew definitely what was keeping him going: he simply would not lose to Valley Doll, period. He wasn't going to let her beat him twice in a row, wasn't going to let her get the better of him in this family feud. He would defeat her, period.

His knife-edge chop had certainly done damage, drawing blood from Valerie's lip and making her hair come loose, making her look all the more wild and disheveled. This seemed to set her off, though, as the blonde came at him, swinging wildly: one punch slugged against his shoulder, another caught him a glancing blow across the cheek, staggering him, before he brought his arms up to block, breathing hard from exhaustion as he was forced back step by step...

Taking a deep breath, he chose his moment to counter attack, shooting forward to drive a hard knee into Valerie's midsection. If this doubled her over, then he would waste no time in spinning around behind her, sliding one leg around one of hers and trying to catch her arm under his. If all worked as intended, then he would catch her in an abdominal stretch, pressing his free hand down against her thigh as he tried to stretch her sideways, trying to force a submission off of her if not wear her down...

As Valerie launched her wild assault, she found new determination, surging with each and every punch, summoning more raw strength with every blow. She didn’t just want to win this match anymore, she needed it, craved it in a way that she couldn't quite fathom. It wasn’t about family pride or anything like that, either. She loved her Mom and respected the legacy, but at the end of the day, she was her own woman with her own decisions, and she refused to be ruled by the past.

No, this was a matter of principle. Valerie was a better wrestler than Kyo. She had proved that once, and she was going to prove it again, here and now. She was making good progress on that front, too, driving him back. Just a little more-

Valerie reeled back for another punch, launched herself in, and wound up taking a hard shot in the stomach, sinking deep into her breadbasket, knocking all the wind out of her in one fell swoop. She gasped, staggered back, and found herself in Kyo’s clutches once again, as he wrapped tight around her and caught her with a Abdominal Stretch.

Valerie hissed through her teeth as she languished in the hold, but shook her head, defiant to the last. ”Not…give up, Kyo.” She thrashed about, making the hold as difficult for him as possible.”You get one submission out of me, that’s it!”

The crowd was hollering now: Kyo had another tight submission hold locked on Valerie, one that was punishing her undoubtedly already sore middle. Those who were cheering for Valerie were now crying out for her to escape somehow. The match had been dragging on quite a bit at this point, and the fit, muscular bodies of both fighters were shining with sweat.

"Urngh...I'm not...giving you...a choice in the matter!" Kyo growled through clenched teeth as he maintained the hold. "Tap...out!" In an effort to torque the hold tighter, Kyo would try to hook a leg over Valerie's head, aiming to transition into an octopus stretch, his free hand pressing down against his opponent's thigh as he tried to brace himself...

”No!”

Valerie wasn’t going to submit in any case, but she refusled - absolutely refused - to do it to an abdominal stretch, of all things. It was painful, yes, but nothing compared to the submission hold that had gotten a submission out of her moments ago, and as some of her strength began to return, she was better able to deal with it.

Even so, she needed an escape, knowing the damage Kyo would do if it continued. As Kyo transitioned into the even deadlier Octopus Hold, she thought she saw what she needed.

As he brought his leg over hers, she abruptly reached up, wrapped her arm around his head, securing it tight and twisted about, trying to bring him over and down with a hip toss. Not a fancy move, but she’d long since passed the point of caring about ‘fancy’, if she was ever there in the first place. Right now, ‘effective’ was more in style.

It was becoming increasingly clear to Kyo that he was not going to be able to wring another submission out of Valerie. She was at a point in the match where her willpower was simply unbreakable: he could bend her, stretch her, pour pressure on her hurting spine or sore abs, make her feel like she was about to snap in two...she would break before she submitted, he realized. And even as he began to transition into an octopus stretch, he started to wonder if he should, or if he would end up seriously injuring her...

Valerie made the decision for him, expertly flipping him head over heels in a judo toss. He smacked hard onto his back, and groaned, slowly beginning to roll. Normally, he would have been able to roll back up to his feet in no time, but exhaustion was starting to slow him down, making all of his movements painfully sluggish...

It was a hip toss. Just a hip toss. About the simplest move you could do short of an arm wringer. Valerie had been doing them before she even became a professional wrestler, back when she was still just amatuer, and executing one shouldn’t have been any problem.

Except it was, now. Valerie was so drained that such a simple maneuver felt like a Herculean effort, but damned if it didn't work.

Down he went, and she followed soon after, crawling over while he rolled to his hands and knees. She seized his head, caught him in a tight facelock, and began to rise, pulling him along with her and throwing a couple of quick knees to his chest along the way, trying to keep him pacified.

Just as Kyo was getting back up, Valerie came, looming over him. Next thing he knew, her arm was circling his head, wrapping him tightly, cheek pressed against the side of her chest, huffing for breath as he was, for the moment, trapped.

Then her knee came up, exploding into his midsection. He gagged from the cannonball-like blow, his knees buckling as he coughed up spittle. It took a lot of effort on his part to remain standing...though Valerie's facelock certainly helped. Breathing in ragged gasps, he balled a fist and tried to retaliate with a closed punch into Valerie's side...taking care, of course, to avoid her kidneys. He wanted to defeat, not cripple her; though in his weakened state he wasn't able to do much else.

Just hit him. Just hit him and hit him and hit him, until you can’t hit anymore. Valerie’s body was working on pure autopilot now, completely overtaxed and spent, not even thinking from one move to the next. Barbaric, brutal, but it was working, as her knees sunk deep into his body and she was able to keep him under control.

More or less. He still had fight in him, enough to lash out with a punch to her sides. Thirty or so minutes ago, she would’ve shrugged it off, but her midsection was still aching from the submissions and slams and probably a dozen other things. Now, it felt like taking a shot from a hammer, and it made her innards churn. Too much to take, far too much.

Knowing she needed to dig deep to put him down, Valerie planted her feet, pulled his arm over her shoulder and proceeded to lift him up into a vertical suplex, raising him higher and higher. Her back began to give halfway through, but instead of giving up and letting him fall away, she stepped forward, dropped his stomach on the top rope, and used the bounce to help her complete the move, looking to bring him down in a arc, right on his back.

Kyo's fist slammed hard into Valerie's white-clad abdomen. He knew it had done damage, that she was flagging as badly as he was, and true enough, he felt her stagger from the blow. Stagger, but not stop; the next thing Kyo knew, he was being lifted backwards, his legs clearing the mat as Valerie, still powerful despite her exhaustion, lifted him vertically.

He fought back as best he could, wiggling his legs, trying to unbalance the both of them. And for a brief moment, it nearly worked, as he felt Valerie's grip around him slipping. Slowly, he toppled downwards again...

...and felt his legs bounce off the ropes. Kyo's eyes widened when he realized this had been Valerie's plan all along. He was still thinking that when he collided back-first with the mat in a tremendous crash-- one that left him sprawled and spread eagled on the mat, groaning as he stared up at the arena lights, his back now a numb mass of pain...

Even though Valerie was the one who executed the attack, you wouldn’t know that to watch the aftermath. At this point, putting the move on him hurt him almost as much as it did him, an impact that worked its way through her entire body and left her shaking.

But she wasn’t done. Not yet. Just a little more, just a little more…

Valeriee sat up, reached over, and gave her thighs a few quick slaps to get her blood flowing, to fight the numbness. From there, she had to complete the onerous task of standing up on two feet and making him do the same, which she managed with a bit of help from the ropes, leaning on them for support as she grasped his head and pulled him up.

The first step, maybe the hardest step, was getting him up on that turnbuckle. Valerie ducked down and picked up with a firearm's carry, then marched over to the corner and dropped him on them, making him sit down on the top. Just for extra measure, she gave him a quick chop on the chest, a little something to keep him daze while she prepared for step two...
