Rosa Di Astra vs. Aaliyah Jackson - Here Comes A New Challenger!

It didn’t take long for Aaliyah to set up this match, and it wasn’t too hard for her to clear it with management. After all, this was live TV, they had time to fill, and having one of their wrestlers knocked out in record time presented them with a real problem, one that she conveniently solved by giving them another match to set up. Luckily, she’d come dressed to wrestle in case Yo-Yo needed some backup, so she was good to go. Eager, even. Ever since her debut against Roni Mancini, she’d been chomping to take on someone who wasn’t a complete sociopath, so she could show what she was capable of in a more relaxed match. This fits that bill.

After leaving Yo-Yo unconscious but mostly okay body on the announce table, Aaliyah hoped up onto the ring apron, vaulted over the ropes and made her way to the center of the ring, squaring up with Rosa. She paid extra attention to those fists of hers. True, her cousin wasn’t the best wrestler in the world by any stretch, but she wasn’t so weak that a normal punch could take her out in one hit, no matter how much she screwed it up. Her opponent had some pepper in those knuckles. She’d have to respect it.

”Ready to go.” Aaliyah hit her Walkman and started up her mixtape for the day, giving her some DMX straight out of the gate.

, a classic. ”Hope you are, too. First one’s on the house, second one costs ya.”

The referee called for the bell and Aaliyah immediately started to move around the ring, picking up speed as she circled her opponent. She stayed out of range for a few second, before dashing in with her arms up, looking to try and force the smaller woman into a collar-and-elbow tie-up.

Rosa felt like lightning was coursing through her veins, nothing, and absolutely nothing in the world could break the high she was on now. Even just waiting for management to get everything in order didn't dampen her mood, in fact it only fueled it. She won, she really won her first match, she couldn't believe it! But one look at the laid out Yo-Yo silenced any critic she had in her mind. She deserved to be here, she proved it in no time flat. And now, it was her time to prove it one more time for the night.

Rosa knew about Aaliyah, not as much as she'd like sadly. She debuted not too long ago, if she wasn't trying to focus on the match, she'd ask to interview her after the match. Especially with them both technically being "debut besties," but oh well, there was always another time. And with Aaliyah's words and the sound of the bell close behind it was time for her second match in LAW to begin.

DING-DING-DING!

Taking a deep breath to steel her nerves, the sunny demeanor of Rosa has dimmed to a cool piercing gaze. Bouncing on her feet in front of Aaliyah, Rosa raised up her guard and would attempt to shoot out her first blow. Aiming for a lightning quick jab to start out the match.

Aaliyah was totally feeling the vibe, getting worked up, caught in the moment, but there were still some warning bells in the back of her head. She had an ample supply of evidence to tell that Rosa was a striker, first and foremost, and a good one at that. Might’ve even been formerly trained in boxing, which wasn’t something she could say. While she wasn’t a bad striker, she knew there was zero chance of her holding her own between the four ropes. If she let Rosa make this into a boxing match, it would go poorly for her.

But, thankfully, this was a wrestling match, and as such, she had all kinds of options, far beyond punches and jabs. Speaking of which…

”Whoa!” Aaliyah jumped back, avoiding a swift jab by mere inches, letting it whiz past her face. ”Close, but…”

Aaliyah leaped back out of range, landed on one foot, then propelled herself back towards Rosa in the moment, closing the gap. She raised her other foot as she flex and shot it at her opponent’s chest, trying to hit her with a strong push kick to knock her back a bit, keeping her at a comfortable distance.

Comfortable for her, at least.

Swing and a miss.

The moment Rosa sent out that jab, she almost hoped for another quick knockout. But as she watched Aaliyah jump back from her fist, it was clear this was a whole different dance.

'Nothing but air, that's fine, no one can dance forever.' Rosa thought. 'just stay focused and look for an-?!' Before her thought could even finish, Rosa's guard snapped down to her chest. Racing to block Aaliyah's rebound as Rosa's feet ground to the mat as she was forced to back back.

'She's keeping her distance, smart.' Rosa thought, shaking her arms, "heh, what's wrong, scared of a little rose~?" Rosa teased, not even sure if she could hear her, the striker decided to do a dance of her own. Bouncing and strafing around Aaliyah, Rosa's eyes looked for any opening they could. Trying to see where she could strike, so, in a way to test the waters, Rosa would attempt to jump in and deliver a quick swarm of jabs and hooks. Aiming for her head, chest, or even hips to see where her thorns would land.

Listening to tunes helped Aaliyah get into her groove during a match, a way for her to focus and hone her skills, but she always kept the volume down just enough for her to hear what was going on around the ringside area. It was important for her to hear the referee’s count, especially if the fight spilled out of the ring - the last thing she wanted was to lose a match because she just didn’t know what number the count was on. Stupid way for things to end.

So she could hear Rosa’s little taunt, which got a chuckle out of her. ”Hey, I’m just trying to make you work a little after that first win. Gotta earn that paycheck, right?”

While she was all smiles, she stayed wary of those fists, keeping on her heels, never staying on the center line for too long. Even so, there was only so much evading she could hope to do when Rosa came in quick and started exerting heavy pressure, throwing out a barrage of blows. Lefts and right, highs and lows, flying fast and free, following Aaliyah as she rapidly backpedaled. She managed to dodge them at first, but then she had to get her hands up and block them as they targeted her center mass, going for her gut. And then…

BAM. A hook cracked Aaliyah, right on the jaw. She spun about 180 degrees, her braids brushing against Rosa’s face as she turned, and lurched forward. For a second, it looked like she was going to go down, just like her cousin, and give the debuting wrestler an unprecedented two knockouts in a row. Hell of a way to kick off your career.

But it wasn’t to be. Aaliyah threw herself backwards before she could fall all the way, brought her leg up through the air in a wide arc, and tried to clock Rosa in the face with a Pele Kick.

In most other fights, Rosa lived and died by "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." Stick and move was the mantra she loved by every time she sent her fists flying! But in this moment, with this high surging through her veins, there wasn't a butterfly be seen in this swarm of killer bees. Up, low, chest, head, hips, legs, anything and everything was a target for win hungry bluenette. Because she believed, no, she knew that if she could get one more hit, she'd have her second win under her belt. All she needed to do was land one solid hit!

And when her cold blue eyes saw Aaliyah's guard go to her chest, the little rose sucked in a quick breath, before shooting out a blistering right hook across Aaliyah's open jaw! Feeling boone meet knuckle as she watched with a smirk as her second challenger turned a 180. As theore she leaned, the higher Rosa's excitement soared as she waited with baited breath for second quickest win in her career!

But, that didn't happen. No, instead of falling to the mat like her cousin, it seemed Aaliyah had a much stronger jaw than her. 'ooh, tough jaw, that fine,' Rosa thought, 'just one little hit and you'll be-'

Before Rosa knew it, the moment she tried to press her advantage, the tunnel visioned boxer missed Aaliyah's leg raised in the sky, but the moment her foot met her face, Rosa was more than aware of it now!

"Agghhh!?!" Feeling a clubbing pain shoot through her skull, all Rosa could do was cry out in pain and try to back away as quick as she could. Raising her guard as best she could, hoping to keep some distance until she got her bearings.

Oof. Rosa could hit hard. She didn’t know too much about this woman or her background, but she wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn that she’d spent time in actual boxing gym. Aaliyah had taken more than enough punches to know the difference from when they were coming from a poser and when they were being delivered by someone who knew what she was doing, and this woman was definitely the latter. She was lucky not to have any loose teeth.

The good thing about those striker types, though, was that they tended to be a little one-note, Against someone like Aaliyah, that sort of thing just would not pass - she could hit them from any angle, anytime, anywhere, and she demonstrated as much when she brought her leg around and nailed her opponent with the Pele Kick.

She couldn't see the immediate impact, just thanks to how she’d come down, but she could hear the crack of her foot against a face. From the floor, she looked up to see her opponent stumbling away, looking stunned, and standing in just the right spot.

Never one to miss out on an excellent chance to show off, Aaliyah threw her legs up and rose in an instant with a kip up. Her feet had scarcely touched the floor before she leaped up, planted her feet on the bottom rope, and flew backward towards her opponent. As she came towards Rosa, Aaliyah reached above her shoulder, tried to grab the woman’s head with a ¾ facelock, and tried to smash her face against her shoulder as she came down, looking to hit her with a Springboard Cutter.
