Bast vs "Amazon" Alaina Sanders-Haines (c) for the LAW Heavyweight Title

”Come on.” Bast panted breathlessly as she led Alaina along the canvas, pulling her towards the corner like an overstuffed trashbag. ”Just a little further…please…”

She was more speaking to her body than anything, begging it to hold on a little longer. She felt like she could pass out at any second, but she knew that if she could just get her to the corner and get her up, somehow, somehow...

They were closing in when Alaina found more life, fighting up to her feet and throwing hard body shots. The blows didn’t have that much energy in them, but it didn’t matter at this point - Bast was far too winded to take them, and she was forced up against the turnbuckle. Her arms came up in a weak guard, and she lashed out with her feet, trying to kick Alaina in the knee to knock her down.

Alaina hit for all she was worth, but Bast shot back knocking Alaina down to a knee! "Ugh!" Alaina groaned as she dropped still in front of Bast. She seu g her fist into the abdomen of her opponent, reaching out and grabbing on to Bast to hemp her stagger back up to her feet, swinging a knee shot into the obsidian iron abdomen of her giant opponent. Alaina gasped for breath and sent an uppercut to the jaw of Bast before grabbing Bast between the legs and around the shoulder.

The weakened amazon was going to try to scoop Bast up as best as her tortured body would allow and slam her with what strength she had left as she was running on less than fumes at this point barely able to stand, swing or lift!

For a second, Bast thought that her kick did some good, that it might have been enough to stop Alaina’s assault for a moment - not much, but enough for her to breathe. She moved forward, looking to hit her back, only to wind up taking a knee to the stomach and an uppercut to the face.

It left her stunned, which made her easy prey for what came next, as Alaina reached down, picked her up, and dropped her flat on her back with a slam. Not technique, not finesse, nothing fancy - just a slam. Probably all she had the energy for at this point, but it was still more than enough to do the trick, as Bast lay at her feet, a broken, wheezing mess.

Alaina gasped for breath, sweat dripping off her. Alaina stumbled and swayed simply by trying to remain upright but she had to fight through this. She had to finish Bast, and right now. The older champion grabbed Bast pulling her up to her feet any way she could, grabbing onto whatever she could. Alaina propped Bast in the corner and bent down lowering her shoulder into Bast and peeling her back out of the corner draping the statuesque Hammer Of Africa across her Amazonian shoulders. Alaina grit her teeth shouting as she exerted herself.

The trembling Alaina stepped one foot onto the bottom rope, then another! She swayed and stayed balanced before screaming, straining to keep Vast up and climb on! Alaina got one foot to the middle rope then another before she felt herself swaying, knowing that this was as high as she would get before pressing off with her legs to smash Bast to the canvas with an elevated samoan drop from the middle rope!

A limp, lifeless Alaina laid with her back on Basts chest, reaching an arm to loosely hook a leg. It was all she could do as her own chest heaved as she drew breath.

The referee shook their head and got into position as they again counted a pin in the very very late stages of the match!

Bast was only vaguely aware of what was happening right now, as she began slipping in and out of consciousness. She was fairly certain that she had, at the least, a mild concussion, or some kind of brain trauma. The simple act of thinking seemed to cause her strain as if her brain was working overtime just to do its basic function. She wanted to sit down and rest, needed to, but she kept pushing hard, anyway. That sort of stress could not come without consequences.

She was vaguely aware of being picked up and lifted, that she was on Alaina’s shoulders. She didn't process why until her opponent had already scaled the ropes; by then, it was too late. She was falling, falling fast, falling hard. She came to rest underneath Alaina’s body and laid there like a lump, unmoving and responsive, even as the referee’s hands slapped down next to her head.

”2…!”

Bast’s hand shot out just as the referee’s hand was coming down, grabbing the bottom rope and putting her height to good use. She wasn’t even sure how she did it, as she laid there with glazed eyes, staring off into the crowd. Reflexes? A fluke reaction? A miracle. Whatever the reason, it worked, though she wasn’t sure what good it would do her at this point.

Alaina was in a state of total shock as Bast defied logic, reason and physics by kicking out. Alaina gasped for breath and shook her head. She could barely see or think as she sat up. Alaina used the ropes nearby to pull herself slowly to her feet. She was about to go all in on a final bid to put Bast away before the Amazon's body gave out.

Hell her body may quit before she could pull this off.

Alaina pulled Bast up to her knees and shoved her head between her legs. Alaina grabbed Bast around the waist. "YAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

Alaina screamed as she gave it her all lifting Bast up and held her high taking two steps toward the turnbuckle and amabombed Bast into it as hard as she could using the last of her might giving Bast the strongest amabomb she could! As Bast hit the mat Alaina trembled and shook collapsing on top of her hooking a leg while pressing down! Alainas body trembled as the official slid in to place to count the pin again, and Alaina herself was on the verge of passing out from the exertion of amabombing Bast that hard and pressing down as forcefully as she was keeping the leg tight!

The crowd was shocked, Alaina was shocked, Cersei was shocked, but no one was more shocked than Bast herself. Her body didn’t seem to be working on her own will anymore. It had a mind of its own, and that mind was determined to stay in this fight. Despite all the damage, despite all the pain, there was still some part of her that wanted to survive and see this through to the absolute end. Some part of her that would not stop.

It was that part that Alaina would have to destroy, and as the Amazon made her way up and pulled Bast along with her, it was clear she was about to try her best. She shoved her head between her legs, hurled her upwards with a mighty burst of power, and proceeded to execute the mother of all Ama-Bombs hurling her into the turnbuckle with a thunderous force. The impact seemed to go through her entire body, cracking bones and leaving bruises, making Bast howl in agony on the way down.

She laid there, a wrecked woman, conscious but wishing she wasn’t, as Alaina slid in for the pinfall. The referee’s hands came down, one, then twice, and Bast gritted her teeth, breathed deep, and prepared to throw her all into one, final escape attempt, before-

DING DING!

Bast’s brows furrowed, in part from pain, but mostly in confusion. The bell had rung, but the referee’s hand was still in the air, just shy of the final count. Had the timekeeper made a mistake? The crowd broke out into confused murmurs, and she could hear Cersei shrieking at ringside. Something about the time…

Alaina was still on top of Bast and heard the bell ring. She smiled and laughed, barely. "I... did it.... I....." Alaina huffed as she flopped off Bast. The adrenaline dump left her unable to stand and the most she could do was roll meekly to the ropes and pull herself up to a sitting position against them. She did it though. She beat Bast, she took down another undefeated challenger. She....

"The match is declared a draw as the time limit was reached. "Amazon" Alaina Sanders-Haines retains the LAW Heavyweight Championship!"

"No.... no...." Alaina meekly said as she was unable to stand, being handed the title as she sat leaning against the ropes for support. "Not like that..."

Her winning streak would end at 23. Sure she didn't lose, not by a long shot. Her body was broken and now her spirit was too. She didn't feel good about retaining the title like this. She had tears running down her cheek mixing with the sweat and a bit of blood compliments of that busted open lip as well as her nose being very broken. She knew Charlie was going to scream at her for this one. He had been saying she had to hang it up sooner rather than later not to be mean or spiteful or anything negative but because he was worried about her. After this match and her inability to stand, see, or think halfway straight she was starting to understand that better than ever before.

"You..." Alaina said meekly pointing to Bast as a couple stretchers were being brought down. "I... had you. You know I did." She said not to insult Bast but to validate the outcome of her keeping her title. She didn't want to keep it on a technicality in any way. She wanted to keep it because she earned it and was the better woman in the ring. She was loaded up without any protest whatsoever and kept looking to Bast to see if she would answer her at all.... or even if she was capable of hearing Alaina let alone answering.

Bast had no idea what Alaina was even saying.

She could honestly barely make out what Calaso was saying and she was right in front of her face, shaking her. ”Samira! Samira!” Her sister looked over her from head to toe as tears streamed down her face. ”Stay awake! We’re going to get you help!”

Help? Yes, did need help. Once the bell rang, Bast’s body started to shut down, almost as if on command, as if it knew there was no more reason for it to be on high alert. She was grateful for the rest, but it meant that all the pain was coming to her at once, as she took a massive adrenaline dump. She was drifting now, fading fast. Probably only a few seconds.

She looked left and saw the paramedics making their way down the ramp, the looked right to see Alaina nearby, towering over with the belt in her hands. The championship gold, the thing that she’d come to LAW for in the first place. So close. Right there.

Bast raised her hand, reaching for it as the darkness closed it. Almost. Almost...
