Kyo was sucking in lungfuls of air now after breaking that pinfall attempt, rolling away from Valley to get some much-needed space from the Californian powerhouse. True to form, however, Valley was playing smart, not giving him time to recover and instead hauling him up by the wrist. In all honesty, Kyo knew he should expect nothing less, especially after the way he had chased Valley out of the ring earlier to hammer at her.

No sooner was Kyo standing, however, when Valerie reared her hand back and delivered a hard chop to his chest. The blow stung, a lot, and he was briefly sent doubling over from the blow as he temporarily lost his breath. He gave a sharp rasp from the blow, stumbling back one or two steps...and stopped, digging in and centering himself.

"If that's...the way...you want to play..." he rasped, before straightening up suddenly and darting in close the distance between them, aiming to repay Valley's brutal forearm chop with one of his own!

Valerie swung out and laid into Kyo with a brutal blow, putting his chest to the test and getting satisfying results. While she wasn’t much of a striker at the end of the day and she didn’t want to dedicate too much of her offense to it, moves like this served their purpose - wearing Kyo down, keeping up the pressure, making sure there was rarely a moment where he could catch his breath. She was just about to follow up, too, reaching out to grab him for the next move, when she learned just how much she underestimated this man’s stamina.

Valerie cried out as he sliced into her chest with a chop that had every bit of the venom she had given him, searing the skin through her singlet. She wound up bouncing against the ropes, hissing at the pain for a moment, before she steeled herself and glared back at him.

It is.”

And she drove that point home a moment later when she lunged forward and returned fire with another chop to his chest, this one bringing no small amount of her body weight along with it.

It was still hurting a little to breathe after taking that last chop of Valley's directly to the chest. If nothing else, that was a brutal reminder of just how strong this girl was, and just how little Kyo could afford to let his guard down around her. With that in mind, getting into a straight of chop-fest with her was the last thing any sensible person should have done...and yet, here Kyo was, delivering a retributive chop right against Valerie's singlet-clad chest. And, by the way she cried out and went stumbling against the ropes, it was brutally effective.

And then, in an instant, she was rebounding back at him, lashing out with another chop that was almost too fast to follow. Again, Kyo felt the sting of Valley's forearm biting between his chest, felt his ribs buckle from the blow and white hot pain shoot through his pectorals. The blow sent him staggering back against the ropes, heaving. All, he thought, according to the plan that was brewing in his head.

"Fine...by me..." he growled, ignoring the stinging perspiration in the corner of his eyes and pushing himself out of the corner to deliver another stinging chop to Valley's chest. He wanted to get her mad, wanted to push her to win this chopping contest...and more importantly, to let her guard down as he prepared a counter...

Valerie knew, somewhere in her logical brain, that she should just abandon this silliness and hit Kyo with another suplex. He was wide open. A belly-to-belly would work wonders, or she could dip down and get him with a Northern Lights, maybe even go for a pinfall. Engaging him like this, with this tit for tat, was pointless.

It was easy to forget that, however, when her chest felt like it had just been stung by a horde of bees. The pain had a good way of erasing rationality, to the point where Valerie’s sole concern was giving Kyo back all the pain he’d inflicted. It seemed like he was of the same mindset, too, because it didn't take long for him to light up her chest again, slicing into her chest with another brutal chop.

Valerie’s cry was more a roar this time, laced with feral outrage. She staggered back, only to surge forward, plant her forehead against his, and push him back with a dominant display. Her eyes, blue and fiery, stared hard into his own, as her steaming breaths blew across his bare chest.

She grunted after a moment and broke away, only to lunge forward harder than ever before, putting all of her weight and momentum into another fierce blow, aimed right at the middle of his chest.

Kyo felt Valley's chest compress a little against his forearm as he delivered another stinging chop, the blow sending the Californian amazon staggering back again. An instant later, she was storming forwards again, her forehead almost slamming against Kyo's as she pressed it against his, her angry blue eyes staring directly into him as she pushed against him. By this point, Kyo's own chest was also throbbing painfully, two red welts visible where Valley had struck him, and the pain was egging him on. He met her gaze unflinchingly, and pushed back against her...and forced himself to adjust slightly. Given that their foreheads were both shining with perspiration, Kyo had been one slip away from accidentally kissing his American opponent. That would have been needlessly embarassing, and would no doubt have made Valley even angrier than she already was.

Speaking of Valley being angry...

The Californian suddenly broke away and lashed out with another forearm chop at Kyo. It was at that moment that he made his move: he ducked, allowing the brutal blow to sail over his head, before driving a knee up into Valley's unprotected midsection. If the blow did the trick of doubling the blonde over, then he would immediately follow up, spinning around behind her, sliding one leg around one of his opponent's meaty thighs and trying to catch her arm under his armpit. If all went according to plan, he would end up twisting Valley sideways in an abdominal stetch...and, if he managed to kick a leg up to hook over her head, stretch her even further by transitioning into an octopus stretch!

Was Valerie angry? She wouldn’t quite use that word. ‘Fired up’ would be the term she’d go for. She’d always been competitive, and while she didn't like to make things personal, that streak could come out of her when she was pressed enough, and this moment more than qualified. Kyo was precisely the challenge she’d wanted when she set foot in LAW - someone strong, capable, determined, and skilled. He was the perfect mountain for her to climb, and the more he fought back, the more determined she was to scale him.

She twitched as those words ran through her mind, and she was glad she didn’t have to say them out loud. It didn't help that she was only a few inches away from kissing this man. Focused as she was, she wasn’t blind, and Kyo’s handsomeness was on her mind. Buried underneath a pile of aggression and determination, but still there all the same.

Valerie was more than glad to break away and lash out, looking to nail him with the chop, but her predictability came back to bite her. The blow sailed clear over him and left her wide open. She tried to spin around around and correct her mistake, but it was too late. He was all over her, pulling her arm back, getting his leg over her neck, pulling her back into…

…an Octopus Stretch. Lovely.

Valerie’s pained, frustrated growl seemed to shake the ring, as she struggled in the hold. She tried to push his leg away initially, but his hold was too well applied. She couldn't get to the ropes, either, lacking the balance to move forward while he was attached like this properly. All she could do for now was suffer in the hold and endure, hoping that an opportunity to escape would present itself.

Kyo noticed that Valley's face looked a bit flustered as she came at him again. Out of anger, perhaps, or frustration? Though he realized it not, his own face was a bit flushed as well after that brief, and almost teasingly intimate, face to face with Valley, but that was the last thing on his mind as he ducked her brutal forearm chop and spun around behind her. His counter ended up working perfectly, hooking Valley's arm, thigh, and then even head, bending her fit body sideways in a brutal submission hold.

This, Kyo thought to himself, even as he cinched in the hold, was what he should have been doing the first time around. It had been folly to try to fight someone as strong as Valley in a battle of sheer power and fisticuffs; he needed to wear her down instead, to weaken her bit by bit as the match progressed and make the continued fight a lot more difficult. And he should have started by doing exactly what he was doing now: by punishing her strong core. He no longer remembered why he had been trying to fight Valley on her own terms. To impress her, maybe, or perhaps out of familiar honor? He couldn't quite tell any more, but it didn't matter: he needed to focus on the present.

"Come on, tap out, Valley!" he barked as he wrenched the hold tighter, pouring pressure on Valley's back and abdomen. Trapped as she was in the stretch, Valley's powerful body would have been put on full display for the crowd as Kyo tried to stretch a submission out of her, the muscles of the two wrestlers shining with perspiration. Truth to be told, however, Valley's struggling was making it difficult to maintain this hold: if the Californian amazon refused to submit, then Kyo would side an arm around her thigh and try to lift her upside down just enough to piledrive her hard into the mat!

Re: A Clash of Legacies: Kyo Akamatsu vs Valley Doll III

It would have to be an Octopus Hold, wouldn’t it? Valerie hated this move. Her mother - the elder Valley Doll - had gotten her into this move numerous times when they sparred again, tricking her into it and stretching her out. With most submissions, she could counter her way out of them, or, failing that, just use her power to muscle her way out, but this hold was different. It targeted all the worst spots of her body and made her waste precious energy to stay balanced while another person was all over her. It was a deadly effective maneuver, and Kyo executed it with relentless pressure, pushing her to the limits.

But tapping? No. She hadn't tapped out in an official match yet, and she wasn’t about to start here, not to this damn move. She was about to tell him as much, too, and even opened her mouth for it, but instead.

”Valerie.” She hissed through her teeth and winced. ”Call me ‘Valerie’.”

That one came out of nowhere, and she was honestly at a loss to say why she cared so much. She’d made peace with people calling her Valley Doll, even though she honestly preferred her real name over it, not wanting to crib off her mother’s name more than she already was. She preferred her friends - few that there were - to call her Valerie, but she had only just met Kyo. That was a high pedestal to put him on.

Valerie didn’t have time to ponder it, however, as Kyo was still on the move. After working her over for a bit, he abruptly changed tactic and slid to her side, transitioning before she could adjust. The next thing she knew, she was being lifted up, turned upside down, and dumped hard, spiking her right on the upperback. Valerie cried out, then flopped back and went down on her chest, kicking her legs for a moment as the pain ran its course.

"Call me Valerie."

Despite himself, Kyo blinked at that. Admittedly, he hadn't known this Valley Doll's actual name (and, as it turned out, it was the same as her mother's), but all the same, the pained comment caught him by surprise. He honestly hadn't expected his opponent to insist on a first-name basis like this. It was almost enough to make his grip on the hold loosen. Almost. But instead he ended it on his own terms, releasing Valley...Valerie...just enough to bring her crashing down to the mat with a modified suplex.

As the muscular blonde went rolling onto her front--giving Kyo a brief view of her well defined backside before he glanced away--Kyo considered his options. He was in the perfect position to execute something to punish her upper back and neck, like an STF or camel clutch, or he could try to hamper her mobility with a boston crab. Given that he was making a late start on the submissions, though, Kyo knew he needed to be consistent: he had started working on Valerie's core, and he needed to continue.

Moving to straddle Valley's back, Kyo grabbed at his opponent's arms, seemingly going for a camel clutch. Instead, however, he would slide his arms under his opponent's, locking his hands behind her ponytailed head as he locked in a full nelson from behind, aiming to keep Valley's arms nicely immobilized. With a deep breath, he would then push off the mat with his boots and fall backwards onto the mat, aiming to pull Valley back with him in such a way that her knees were still against the mat. If all went according to plan, he would then snap his legs up around Valley's firm, singlet-clad midsection and lock them, and start to squeeze Valley like a tube of toothpaste with a simple but effective body scissor!

Focus. Focus.

Valerie was trying her best to keep her head on straight throughout this ordeal, but that was far easier said than done - something about getting flipped over and spiked into the canvas had a way of ruining one's concentration, imagine that. As much pain as she was in, though, she tried her best to focus and push through it, knowing she would need her wits about her - Kyo had already shown himself to be a cagey and capable opponent, and fatigue was starting to set in. They were reaching the most crucial part of the match, where opportunities could slip away in a second, and she didn’t want to miss hers.

She gathered enough sense to start pushing her way up, planting one fist on the floor, then another, only for Kyo to come in from behind. At first, she thought he was going for a Camel Clutch - a simple submission, one she could’ve fought her way out of. As it turned out, however, his aims were more ambitious than that. Instead of the simple hold, he gripped her under the arms and locked in a solid Full Nelson, one of her own favorites. That would’ve been bad enough on its lonesome, but he had one painful twist to throw in, as well.

Valerie braced her as they rolled over and he locked her into a tight bodyscissors, crushing her core between his legs. She spent no small amount of time strengthening her midsection, so she was better equipped to take this than most, but there were limits to everything and she was rapidly reaching hers. Groaning she took a deep breath to make the best use of what little oxygen she could spare, and started the slow and arduous task of pushing them with her legs, trying to force them towards the ropes.
