The SWAT Cats Announce a Tag Team Open Challenge Series

Next up on the card, with no scheduled amount of time was the scheduled appearance of LAW's newly crowned inaugural tag team champions. After a cue was given to the audience signaling it was time, The SWAT Cats theme song blared on the stadium speakers. The upbeat tune and bright montage on the giant monitor above the entrance ramp spurred the crowd on as they came to life and began singing the SWAT Cat's theme music! As the beat dropped, Tracy slid out onto the entrance ramp, stopping and posing on her knees with her arms out, championship belt around her waist! Katherine would soon follow after her, walking into the frame slowly as the audience cheered the Cat's arrival! On Katherine's shoulder rested Aurora, her arm curled up and around Aurora's bottom and side to support her tag partner, literally and figuratively. Upon the Galaxy Cat's shoulder, she wore the other championship belt. The stadium lights reflected off of it, highlighting the two sharks on the front plate.

Kat would beckon Tracy, motioning with her hand to come closer. The Circus Cat would leap up off the ground, and Kat would extend her free arm to catch her on her other arm and shoulder. The three of them posed together as the cameras zoomed in and their team pose was broadcast throughout the arena and worldwide! Aurora and Tracy would dismount from Kat. Tracy handed her belt to The Super Kitty before the three of them made their way down the ramp, each of them at their own pace. Cheers continued to rain down. Once the three SWAT Cats took their place in the ring, Kat leaned through the ropes to ask the production crew for a set of mics. They gathered together in the center of the squared circle and faced the crowd. Chants ensued as each of the luchadoras drank in the moment.

"Inaugural. LAW. World. Tag. Team. Champions..." Kat said, closing her eyes partway through and nodding,

"Inaugural Tag Team Champions BAYBEEEEEE!" Tracy cut in and exclaimed.

"We've come a long way, haven't we? I mean, just glancing at this team, you probably wouldn't be able to tell that I only joined The Cats and LAW several months ago. But we wrestle and pal around like we've been friends for life." Aurora added.

"We've come quite a ways. Individually, and as a team. I've been wrestling about as long as just about anyone. I've been at LAW as long as just about anyone. I couldn't think of anyone that I'd rather hold this honor and privilege to with" Katherine said, patting the gold belt on her shoulder, the thud echoing off the microphone before she turned to Tracy and Aurora "than these two ladies right here."

Tracy would climb the corner and extend her arms, prompting fans to cheer. Aurora would lean through the middle and top ropes next to Tracy and wink to the cameras. The two of them would slowly make their way back to Kat as she continued on the mic.

"Half the people in the back, if you were to have approached them last week, two weeks ago, last month, they'd have all told you that Katherine Hart, Tracy Canon, Aurora Estrella, each of those ladies were future champions."

"During a promo a year or so ago, tag teams all gathered here in this very ring to announce their intentions to go for gold and I told you all that the SWAT Cats would become tag team champions. And nothing in this world feels better than to say that we announced that goal to the world and that we pulled it off."

"From day one, the moment I joined this team, that was the name of the game. Become Tag Team champions alongside my friends."

"Shoot, I got into wrestling, I got into LAW for the sole purpose of becoming tag champs alongside Kat! (and yeah, I guess you're pretty cool too, or whatever, Aurora)" Tracy murmured. Aurora stuck her tongue out at her.

"But accomplishing the dream is not enough, no. Not even close. It's not just about becoming tag team champs no." Kat said hitting a stride and wagging her finger.

"See, there's a lot to prove. As Freebird champs, all 3 of us are tag team champions. And all 3 of us are focused on a set of common goals. You see, even if the fans back us 100 percent, we still have some naysayers that we need to silence. We have a tag division that we need to continue jumpstarting. We have a legacy to deepen and enrich."

"See, there's some folks out there that think that The SWAT Cats holding these belts...is illegitimate. There are some haters, some tabloid writers on staff that feel that the tag division has been...'stymied'..."

"And those folks and that attitude are things that we will continue to prove wrong for as long as we're wrestling under the LAW banner." Aurora chimed in.

"We are one of the most tenured, most successful, most beloved tag teams in the business today. Regardless of whether you liked the gauntlet match or not, The Cats were the favorites going into that match, and as a team, we have a better resume and a stronger dynamic than any other tag team in that locker room." Tracy said as she pointed towards the backstage area with her free hand.

"Love us or hate us, we ARE tag team wrestling at LAW. We ARE the faces of the division. And that's a cat fact."

"A cat fact that needs to change...."

"Our goal as tag team champions is to put tag team wrestling on the map at LAW. Our goal is not just to highlight ourselves as tag team champions, but to also highlight all the other amazing teams and pairings in this company. Yes, we want to prove that The SWAT Cats are the best in the business. But we also want to prove that the LAW tag division is the best tag division in the world!"

"We are going to elevate ourselves, but we are also going to elevate these tag team championships! We are going to elevate this division! We are going to cast aside all doubt! And we are going to prove that our challengers and our top tag teams are all championship material! That we are all worthy of going down in history as greats in this company and as greats in this business!"

"And that is why, from this point forward, The SWAT Cats formally announce that we will be doing a tag team open challenge series for the World Tag Team Championships." Kat said before crossing her arms.

"From this point forward, each and every time that our team is together in this ring, we welcome any team in the back to come down here and challenge us for the right to call yourselves the best tag team at LAW, for the right to call yourselves the tag team champions."

"We aren't letting any challengers, any trash talkers, any opposing teams have any leeway to make excuses. You can come challenge us whenever you want! We'll even let YOU pick the match stipulations if you want any."

"And we'll allow the challengers to select which two out of the three of us they want to face for the belts."

"We're giving every challenger the chance to shine and to show what they're made of, what LAW tag wrestling is made of when they share a ring with us!"

"And we will do everything in our power to secure these belts and prove that we earned them and that we deserve them!"

"We will prove that we can, have, and will continue to carry this division. Starting right now, at We Are LAW!"

"So if you've been watching and you like what you see. If you see a top spot that you wanna sink your teeth into. If you're a team that thinks they're good enough. We welcome you to come down to the ring right now and accept the challenge in front of thousands of screaming SWAT Cats fans becaaaauuuuse....!"

"SWAT....CATS RULE!" Tracy began as she put her hands on her hips and started gyrating.

"SWAT....CATS RULE!"
"SWAT....CATS RULE!" Kat joined in, shimmying her shoulders as she passed the belt she was wearing to Aurora.

"SWAT....CATS RULE!" Aurora joined in raising the title above her head whilst she shuffled her feet in place.

By this point, the audience joined in on the chanting! The cameras panned towards the entrance ramp as the Cats celebrated their announcement for the trajectory and goals of their tag championship run!

Expectations and anticipation built throughout the backstage area and at the commentator's table as everyone began to wonder if competitors of all shapes and sizes would come out and answer The SWAT Cat's tag team open challenge series for the championships!

As the inaugural tag-team champions celebrated, a music was played as a pair of young women emerged from the entrance. One was a short-haired young woman clad in two-piece leopard-patterned wrestling outfit, and the second one was a ponytailed one in a leotard. They are Mara Ashford and Toni Ashford, the daughters of the legendary Dana Ashford, and the two of them made a team known as the Ashford Sisters. The crowd became animated as they assumed that they were there to challenge for the title.

"Good evening," Mara spoke as she used a microphone. She was well-known for being the mellow one among the sisters. "I'm sorry to interrupt your triumph, but I believe something has just caught our interest." Both her and Toni walked down the ramp, making their way towards the ring where the current tag-team champions were at the moment. "First of all, congratulations for being the inaugural tag-team champions of LAW, I'm sure that will be an achievement to remember..." She retained her smiling as both of them entered the ring.

Strangely, Toni didn't seem to be going to say anything as she let her older sister to do the talking. "Since you're so eager to show your worth as the champions, perhaps you won't mind if we challenge you for the title..." Mara continued, still keeping her smile. The smile might remind people of her own mother's, whose smile was so infamous that she was nicknamed 'Smiling Demon' as a result. "We aren't here to trash talk or anything like that, please don't misunderstand. We're just here with our challenge, that's all..."

The crowd went crazy as both sisters stood before the cat-themed masked wrestlers. They didn't know what to expect here. Once she was done addressing the champions, Mara lowered her microphone, waiting for their response.

The crowd continued to cheer as the tag champs livened up the atmosphere in anticipation of their possible PPV opponents. The tag division had been put on notice. Any team in the back that felt that they were ready to prove they could compete on the world stage, at the championship level, could come to challenge the SWAT Cats to a tag title match at We Are LAW, inside the famed Kōrakuen Hall. And those lively cheers for the champs would soon be interrupted when challengers stepped up.

The savvier fans and viewers recognized The Ashford Sister's theme right away. The SWAT Cats' ears collectively perked up as Mara Ashford and Toni Ashford made their presence known. Katherine and Aurora noted that Mara seemed to be doing all the talking. The pair made their way down to the ring, seemingly approaching the champs far more cordially than anyone could have imagined. The older Ashford sister's congratulations seemed sincere enough. The pair entered the ring and met the trio of luchadoras in the center of the squared circle. Mara issued her challenge on behalf of her and her sister right away. No fuss, no frills, no beating around the bush. The Ashfords wanted the tag belts and they were here to challenge for Cats for them! The audience clamored in anticipation of the possible unscheduled championship match that they might see this PPV!

"Succinct and right to the point. I like it." The Galaxy Cat answered. The "brains" of the luchadora team seemed to take no issue with this. She nodded to her partners and paused to let them cut in.

"The Ashford Sisters. Mara and Toni. Daughters of the famed Dana Ashford. I'll be honest, she's been on my radar for a while. And ever since we won these belts, I've been keeping an eye on both of you sisters. I knew sooner or later we'd be throwing down. Top tag team versus top tag team. I say, why not now? Why not kickstart this championship reign with a bang and put it all on the line at We Are LAW! LAW's biggest PPV!" Kat talked up their opponents. The SWAT Cats had their work cut out for them. They had a championship resume, but it was time to show the fan base and their fellow wrestlers and fellow tag teams that they weren't just worthy of winning the belts. But that they were worthy of keeping them and carrying the division as well!

"Toni and Mara, right?" Tracy began, raising her microphone to her face. She held her hip with her free hand. Her faced puffed up ever so slightly, showing she was slightly peeved.

"You wanna challenge us for these?!" Tracy said, raising the belt she was carrying high above her head. Katherine wore the other tag belt around her waist. The noise from the crowd only grew louder as the booking of the match seemed to grow closer and closer.

"You heard the rules we laid out, yeah? Name your match stipulation. And choose with 2 out of the 3 of us you wanna face for these titles if you still think you're good enough!" The Circus Cat finished in an empathic tone.

Both Mara and Toni were listening to the response from Katherine, Aurora and Tracy. And it seemed that they could choose two among the three of them they could face for the title match. Both Mara and Toni exchanged knowing smiles, and for a moment, they said nothing before Mara handed her microphone over to her sister Toni.

"Let's see..." Toni spoke. "How about if... we fight for them, right here, right now?" Then, another pause, as if she was looking at something that Katherine, Aurora and Tracy weren't paying any attention to. "As for who we should fight..." A sly smirk appeared on the ponytailed young woman's face. "How about the three of you?"

And right after that moment, unbeknownst to the cat trio, someone jumped over the barricade from among the crowd. It was Dana Ashford, the mother of the two. She immediately made her way into the ring, and without wasting any second, she would try to take Katherine from behind, hitting her with a mighty lariat from behind, hoping to send her face down into the mat.

Almost at the same time, both Mara and Toni would spring into action. Both of them would go over to Aurora and Tracy respectively. Mara would charge towards Aurora with her arm held out, looking to hit her with a lariat of her own while Toni would attack Tracy with a kick to her belly, looking to have her double over before her so that she could seize her head.

The more the two teams talked, the more suspicious the Ashfords seemed. The sisters smiled at one another when considering their response. Of course, they had a match type in mind, right? Their choice of who to face was likely already set in stone as well. Mara and Toni were both well aware of the terms of the challenge before coming out here. Yet as they let the suspense build, the trio of luchadoras couldn't help but feel something was amiss. The three of them observed carefully as Mara handed her microphone over to Toni. Tracy hopped in place in anticipation. Aurora's ears perked up as she took note of The Ashford's words and demeanor. Katherine stepped forward, seemingly ready to throw down when Toni suggesting doing this title match right here and now! The Super Kitty looked to the ponytailed girl and then to Mara, who was wearing a two-piece. Kat looked to her team members and then back towards her Ashfords before answering.

"Three of us? As in all three of us? You're not asking for a 2 on 3 tag match. You girls don't think you need a third-ACK!" Katherine began with a bewildered tone. The goal of this open challenge was to give the challengers the advantage. To showcase the tag division's premier teams. Taking on all 3 members of the SWAT Cats didn't make immediate sense, but the dots were soon connected, for Katherine's reply would be cut short. Fans would clamor and roar as Dana sped her way into the ring! The "Smiling Demon"- the Matriarch of the Ashford dynasty would immediately throw a mighty running Lariat the moment she entered the ring, clubbing Katherine in the back of the head and forcing her down the mat!

The impact of The Super Kitty's mic hitting the canvas would echo a thud throughout the arena. Kat would hold the back of her head with both hands as she writhed on the mat faced-down! Without missing a beat, Mara and Toni followed their mother's lead! Mara rushed in and leveled Aurora with a Lariat in a similar fashion to her mother! The Galaxy Cat had little time to react. She'd brace herself and suffer a blow to her modest chest, sending her down onto her back!

"Guh!" Aurora groaned out in pain as her back met the canvas!

At the very same time, Toni rushed in and kicked Tracy in her midsection! Tracy would double over and recoil! She'd step back towards the ropes as she held her side and tried to recover. Yet Toni was not in her trail and managed to seize her by her red hair!

Boos began to fill the arena. The very first defense of LAW's world tag titles, and The Ashford family, spearheaded by Dana Ashford, seemed keen on the idea of stealing the belts by giving the champs a disadvantage by mugging them before the match could even be booked!

"Is this how you're gonna play things out, Dana?! You came here to cheat us out of our belts?!" Kat would roar as she reached forward and grabbed the Matriarch's ankle, gripping it firmly with her rage over this sudden, dastardly ambush!

Dana had ambushed Katherine from behind, hitting her with a lariat while her daughters, Mara and Toni, focused on both Aurora and Tracy respectively. Dana was now standing over Katherine, who then reached out to her ankle. In response to her words, Dana chuckled as she would bend down, looking to grab the masked wrestler by her head, pulling her up.

"Hush now, kitty. You should've seen this one coming miles ago..." Dana teased Katherine as she would force her back up on her feet before she attempted to deal some damage on her by driving her knee into her midsection, looking to make her lose some air and leave her breathless. From there, she would drag her towards the ropes, where she planned to send her out of the ring by tossing her over the top rope and outside.

Meanwhile, Mara earlier had attacked Aurora with a lariat of her own, and seeing that the masked wrestler was on her back, Mara would approach her and bend down to pull her up. Mara would then smash her forearm right into her chest, but not before uttering an apology to her. "I'm so sorry about this..." Her tone might indicate that she was sincere in her apology, but the smile on her face seemed to indicate otherwise.

At the same time, Toni had seized Tracy's head after kicking her right into her midsection. Then, she would pull her head and trap her into a front facelock. After making sure that the facelock was snug enough, she would reach down to the waist part of her leotard before she attempted to lift her up into a vertical position before bringing her down into the mat with a vertical suplex. The trio seemed adamant to beat the new tag team champions around before they could fight for the titles.

Despite the smiles and their words, The Ashfords were anything but remorseful. They showed the SWAT Cats anything but mercy. Dana's words in particular resonated with Katherine.

Dana collected Kat from the canvas. She yanked the rival heavyweight up by her head. Once she was level enough, Dana told her that she should have seen this coming. And she was right. If the SWAT Cats had a team leader, it'd be Katherine Hart. As the most tenured and most seasoned out of all of them, she should have been the one to keep the team on high alerts. The belts were a coveted prize. The added prestige to the team and to the division, but the championships also served as a target. Something that other teams would hunt them down for. Something that The Ashfords were beginning to dismantle them for!

"Uuuf! Unnngh! Ack!" Katherine let out deep, guttural groans as each of Dana's knees hit their mark, drilling her in the abdomen over and over and over again! After the Matriarch connected with a solid four knees in a row, she promptly ran The Super Kitty to the edge of the ring and threw her over the top rope headfirst! Having been softened up by the Lariat from behind and then the repeated knees, Hart would be sent soaring over the ropes! She'd take a nasty spill to the outside! She'd grab the middle rope on her way down and flip onto the arena floor, landing on her back! Kat would roll towards the announcer table and use the table for leverage. The Super Kitty would attempt to pull herself up slowly. And as she did, she'd see the carnage continue to unfurl inside the ring!

As Dana for her way with Kat, Mara indulged in working over Aurora. The more talkative if the Ashford sisters pulled The Galaxy Cat from the mats, again in similar fashion to the way Dana pulled up Kat. Following in her mother's footsteps, Mara struck Aurora repeatedly, but she did so with forearms to the petite lightweight's chest! Mara apologized as she did so, but her expression would lead Aurora and the fans to believe there was no weight behind her words, no matter how sincere they sounded! Aurora would go down like a sack of potatoes! She'd once again fall to the mats on her back! The stiff forearm blow would force Aurora would drop the belt she was holding! The gold belt would fall at her side, and she'd pant heavily as she tried to recover!

Lastly, Toni showed no restraint or concern for Tracy Canon! She pulled the Circus Cat into a rather tight facelock and followed up by tugging roughly on Tracy's leotard! Tracy would find her leotard riding up high as she was practically wedgied while Toni pulled her up and overhead for a simple yet effective Vertical Suplex! The slam left Tracy on her back, arching it in pain! Her belt was still fastened around her waist, but right now The Circus Cat and the rest of the SWAT Cats were looking like anything but reigning and defending champions!

Kat looked on at ringside. She scowled as she saw her teammates getting decimated alongside her. She shouted.

"You're right, Dana! I should have seen this coming miles away! If you and your goons wanna fight someone, why don't you come out here and fight me!!!" Hart roared, hoping to goad the family and spare her tag partners some punishment!

The Ashfords showed their dominance over the cat trio, with Dana sending Katherine out of the ring while both Mara and Toni were working on both Aurora and Tracy respectively. Mara had smashed her forearm into Aurora's chest repeatedly, and now, the lightweight was on the mat, with Mara looming over her. Meanwhile, Toni had brought Tracy down with a vertical suplex, sending her crashing down into the mat with the move. Now that both Aurora and Tracy on the mat, both of them decided to bend down and pick at the belts that they had, with Mara picking it off the mat and Toni yanking at the belt wrapped around Tracy's waist roughly. From there, they would stand over both of them, hoisting the belts proudly despite them not even winning them yet.

Meanwhile, Dana had brought Katherine out of the ring over the top rope, sending her crashing into the floor outside. After that, the matriarch then followed her outside, getting her feet on the apron before hopping down onto the floor. She looked at Katherine who pulled herself up using the announcer's table. Dana sauntered over to her, wearing her signature smile that had been closely associated to her. Hearing Katherine's words, the matriarch let out a chuckle, as if amused by her words.

"You misunderstand something, Katherine. As of right now, we're not interested in any of you, at least not individually. But..." Her eyes glinted dangerously as she drew closer to Katherine. "It happens that you've got some nice-looking belts around your waists, and we want them." And from there, Dana would try to deliver a vicious forearm smash right to Katherine's upper chest. The sheer force of the strike would be tremendous, and any lesser woman would crumble under the impact.

The Ashfords had taken the tag champions and LAW by storm, making their presence known as a dynasty the very same night that the inaugural champs had first made their appearance on a PPV! Mara had gotten the better of Aurora. Toni had flattened Tracy and violently ripped the title belt from The Circus Cat's waist! The sisters stood together over the pair of SWAT Cats in the ring. Mara and Toni Ashford held the belts high, much to the dismay of the crowd. Like it or not, the reality that The Ashfords could reign as the next world tag team champions seemed more imminent as the broadcasting of this PPV event continued! Aurora and Tracy remained splayed out at the feet of Mara and Toni!

Meanwhile, outside the ring, Dana had given chase to Katherine. She wore her signature, devilish smile on her face. The Matriarch zeroed in on The Super Kitty, the latter of which had picked herself up and dusted herself off just in time to see Mara and Toni finish dismantling her tag team partners! Of course, like her daughters, Dana has no remorse or misgivings about any of this. She, herself, made it a point to state that none of this was being done out of malice or for deep-seated personal reasons. The Ashfords wanted the tag team championships and this is how they chose to go about securing them!

The curvaceous Matriarch put an exclamation point on her words by winding up a massive forearm smash! Dana's strength was just as notable as her experience in the sport of pro wrestling! With body language alone, it was clear that this strike was thrown with the full intention of knocking Kat into the next zip code, let alone into or over the announcer table! Kat grit her teeth as Dana struck! And Dana struck true! Dana's elbow collided with the fabric of Kat's mask, snapping the heavyweight luchadora's skull to the side! Kat's mouth went agape for a split second! This hit did not at all seem like something that could be shrugged off! Yet not even a second later, as Dana pulled back her forearm, Kat grit her teeth and spun around!

"HRAGH!!!" Hart would let out a guttural battle cry as she used the momentum from getting rocked to spin a full 360 degrees and fire off a Discus Chop across Dana's chest! Should the chop connect, the sound of her gloved hand stinging the voluminous pecs and bosoms of Dana Ashford would echo throughout the arena, likely alerting Mara and Toni in the ring! Kat would attempt to follow up swiftly, channeling the rage and indignation she felt on Tracy and Aurora's behalf as she reached for Dana's neck with one hand and readied her other hand to throw a mean European Uppercut! Finally, if Kat's offense stuck, she'd pivot and stand perpendicular to Dana! Kat would take a step back and telegraph her motions as she stepped forwards and lifted her foot high off the arena floor to attempt to finish up this combo with a huge Superkick!

"Eat this!" Hart would cry out as she tried to rally stand up for the SWAT Cats, both as a team and as tag team champions deserving of their accolade!
