Why You Shouldn’t Sleep On Chris Yukine
By: Jonathan Still
While I usually don’t consider myself the column writing guy, I do consider myself a wrestling expert being in this industry for as long as I have. Although, some people belong and others don’t.
One type of person people believe don’t belong in wrestling is celebrities and that celebrities are only there for a spot fest and a quick pay check before flying back to their suburban mansion.
However, even though I haven’t worked with many celebrities or faced them in the ring, I can definitely tell you that LAW proves that celebrities can be wrestlers through the proper means. Just look at the idols that stack the roster and even three of them managed to get to Apex.
However, the point of interest in this article is a woman by the name of Chris Yukine. Someone that has seriously impressed me with her work in LAW and World Frontier Pro Wrestling, a LAW partner company.
She is a musician and even runs her own tag team with Finella Edelstein as Moonrock and even though LAW fans don’t get to see Chris enough in the ring, you can always find her on WFPW television living it up in the ring.
There are a few things that impress me about Chris and these are things to look out for when people watch her go further in her career. She understands wrestling. The showmanship as well as the skills needed to make it in the ring.
She takes herself seriously to an extent, but at the same time, doesn’t have a big ego about it. Chris won’t talk down anyone. She just focuses on her matches and wrestles her heart out to win. You won’t find many celebrities that actually train regularly to really understand this sport.
Chris isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty and this showed during the whole war between Chelsea vs. Finella a couple years ago. The musician won’t back down from anything and will even take dangerous spots to protect the ones closest to her. I’ll probably get slapped in the head by Chelsea if she ever reads this.
I’m not saying Chris will become the next big megastar anytime soon, but all I’m saying is that you shouldn’t count her out just because she ain’t been on TV in awhile or that she’s just in it for the money. Chris has got passion and so do other wrestlers here in LAW. That to me….proves she belongs in the sport. Don’t sleep on Chris Yukine.
