It’s no secret that LAW is making ripples in the wrestling world for good reason. With its deep roster including some of the greatest names in women’s wrestling, its ever-hyped-up events, and its loyal and devoted fanbase, there’s a reason the promotion has cemented itself as one of the fastest growing and most talked about in the sport today. But they say no man is an island - and LAW is just one part of the overall wrestling industry. A promotion, no matter how big, will always need other companies out there to provide talent and get the word out about the up and coming names in the business - be they your local indie leagues or slick televised shows. And LAW is proud to announce a new working relationship with the newly christened World Frontier Pro Wrestling.
At the helm of the promotion is retired wrestler Hank Strongbow Williams. After seeing the peak of his career in the 90s, Hank stayed with the business, getting involved backstage as a promoter. Previously, Hank tried his hand at running a company in the form of United Supreme Pro Wrestling, another LAW affiliate. But even after he handed over management of the promotion to fellow wrestler and promoter Bethany Morgan, the industry drew Hank back in, and he started up a new company - this time, one dedicated to showcasing the greatest wrestlers from around the world, exposing them to an international audience. In keeping with this philosophy, the newly minted promotion has extended its hands to form partnerships with a number of established companies - one of them LAW.
When asked about how he sees the partnership working, Hank had this to say: “I see us having a very straightforward business relationship. Me and Dan have talked this through and we have talent exchange opportunities, defending belts from both companies, and so many more opportunities to explore. I think we can get right to the meat and potatoes of what we want to accomplish from this partnership and give the crowd good matches to remember.”
In addition to booking LAW wrestlers on its shows, WFPW has proposed working closely with LAW in a variety of ways, including staging qualifiers for its tournaments and other events on LAW cards. In particular, WFPW has plans to put its women’s division front and center in the form of its all-female brand, Heart and Gold, which will feature its own TV show, special events, and of course its own championships. When asked about whether or not LAW talent would be offered spots in the tournaments to crown these inaugural champions, WFPW’s brass responded “it’s certainly a possibility.” Ali Zornes, one of WFPW’s executives in charge of the women’s division, added “I’m excited to work with Harmonia and the other excellent women of LAW. I hear they are some of the brightest and talented wrestlers in the world. That’s a highlight of WFPW: bringing young international talent up on the big stage to show their stuff.”
Her mention of Harmonia Edelstein isn’t just for the sake of name-dropping, by the way. The Austrian model has seen a triumphant rise to the top over the last few months, making headlines as one half of a rising tag team sensation in the Superstars with her girlfriend Molly Forster. The two of them went from midcard attractions to main eventers practically overnight, and that fame brought all the perks that came with it - media attention, sponsorship, and rabid fans alike. Now, Edelstein has the chance to flex her business sense by becoming General Manager of WFPW’s Starstruck brand, while Molly will be taking on her first foray into the backstage world as her Vice General Manager.
Harmonia had this to say: "It is incredible to see how far I came in this short time, wrestler, number one challenger for the LAW Tag Title and now General Manager of Starstruck. But I would have never, ever made it without the constant help of partner and girlfriend, Molly Forster. The positive influence Molly has on my life is tremendous, and we go from victory to victory. Now we are about to conquer World Frontier Pro Wrestling, next to LAW surely the most prestigious league in the world. And Molly and I intend to make Starstruck the most beloved and exciting part of it! GM H and M are burning like fire and we are ready to take this chance, we will make you STARSTRUCK!”
Molly, on the other hand, had this to add: “Ah, well…no one has a knack for show business like Moni does, as you can see! If anyone’s well-suited for the job, it’s her. Take it from me - I know Harmonia like no one else. She means the world to me, and I’ve never been closer to anyone in my life. So believe me when I say that the GM role is a set of boots she was born to fill. People might overlook her accomplishments behind the scenes - and who could blame them, with that face - but Harmonia came from nothing and rose to take control of her image. She’s been promoting her appearances longer than she was active in wrestling, and she built her fortune the hard way. If anyone can handle this job, it’s her! It’s going to be new for me, I’ll admit that. I’ve never been in such a position of power like this before. But with Moni by my side, there’s no way we can fail! Anyone who’s watched the Superstars knows that when the two of us come together, there’s no obstacle we can’t overcome. Before I met Moni, I never thought I would be where I am now, but I’m never looking back! This is a challenge just like any other, but I’ll take it head-on, and I’ll be sure to bring you a show you won’t want to miss! You could say it’ll leave you STARSTRUCK!”
Furthermore, as part of its commitment to help foster the future of wrestling by giving rookie wrestlers a place to develop their skills and put their best face forward, WFPW will be offering non-exclusive contracts to LAW’s Young Lionesses - rather than the short-term excursions that characterized previous deals, these will see the League’s up-and-coming trainees a lasting place on the roster, and a chance to put their best foot forward to a new audience. As part of our research for this article, we gathered quotes from a few Young Lionesses about what they’re most excited for in WFPW:
- Sarabeth Chummers: “I hear some LAW women will be sharing the roster so I do want to face Alania Sanders in a real match out there in front of a crowd. I don’t have the best record against her in sparring, but I could surprise her one of these days. Outside of LAW, I think I would like to face either Sophia Cross or Emily Workman. I hear they are pretty rough gals that go hard in the ring and that’s what I like styling with.”
- Kaguya Hojo: “I love it! The people in WFPW are so kind, offering advice and tips that I can only dream of. I really feel like I’ve progressed leaps and bounds in the few matches I've had and I just know it’ll carry over to LAW proper!”
- Sheila Chihara: “I know William and Jonathan are going to be on board, and they just recently invited Meiyun and I to this new stable they’ve been putting together, the Reformation. I bet they’re gonna be doing stuff as a team in WFPW, so if I’m going over, I want to help them out. It’d be so cool to be kicking ass with all my friends!
- Teuila Masina: “It's honestly such a huge opportunity. The chance to travel and broaden things with new experiences and matches, but also to experience being fully contracted wrestlers outside of LAW before becoming full fledged members ourselves!”
- Nico Cardona: Hola fans de tot el món! Aquest és el teu estimat parlant, Nico Cardona! Hehe, sorry, that was for my family, I just introduced myself to the world, the name is Cardona, Nico Cardona, shaken not shtirred! Ah yes, Sean Connery is my favourite Bond, wanna hear my impression? "I take Anal Bum Cover for 1000!" Whaaaat I can't say this word here? Oooh ho sento, maybe something from the Simpsons then? I wanna Seymour Butz! Yeah guys, I wanna Seymour Butz! What? Stay on topic? Oh, World Fanta Wrestling! Front...Frontie...Fronta...uuuh WFPW! Explanation
World Frontier Pro Wrestling, like its predecessor United Supreme Pro Wrestling, is a creation of my friend @TheWanderer, featuring wrestlers of his own creation as well as real wrestlers and other OCs in fantasy booking of matches and shows published on his fanfiction.net and AO3 accounts, which he writes out himself. He’s willing to feature LAW characters in his shows, as well as working with LAW users to set up storylines and angles between the two promotions. If you would like one of your characters to be involved, feel free to reach out to either of us, and watch this space for more announcements!
