Deadly Nightshade - Finlay Zeffer vs Karen Meadows

Standard Match: Winner determined by pinfall, submission or knock out

Finlay stretched and cracked his knuckles backstage as he prepared for his next match up. His opponet was a bit of a different one. Karen Meadows, otherwise known as Mindy Midnight. He remembered watching her show with half attention when he was younger, and although he would never admit it its likely where first got interested in the sport.

In any case that was the past and this was now. He was scheduled to face Karen in a standard match. He had managed to finally break the losinh streak he was on and he wasn’t about to go back. So with determined eyes his music began playing and he came out from the guerilla position in his normal red and maori patterned long tights with grey wrestling boots.

Holding a fist in the air Finlay walked calmly down the ramp. He had decided to forgo show boating during his entrances, it wasn’t him and only tired him out prior to the match starting. Jumping up from the ground to the ring apron and grabbing the top rope in response he’d than haul himself up and over the top rope landing in a crouch. Standing he’d walk towards his corner and turn, watching the entrance ramp for when his opponet would come out.

This was her first match for the intergender division and she knew that she was going to likely be put up against some hotshot with something to prove. That’s the way any competition tended to go with her standing ready to throw down but expecting to have to snuff out some fight from some tough guy who thought he was getting an easy win. Well much like in her acting career she was going to have to disappoint and ruin another big shots expectations, nothing was going to stop her this time.

Karen made her entrance under the usual fanfare and she made sure that people knew she was pretty damn serious matching out looking ready for a fight. She entered the ring and quickly went to her corner, throwing off her jacket as she settled in, watching her opponent the whole time she did so.

Finlay watched calmly and seriously as the former actress came down the ramp to the ring. Taking note of the similar expression on her face, as well as meeting her intense amber eyes with his own. Keeping their gazes locked he watched as she entered the ring and went to her corner silently. ‘Thank fuck she’s not some celebrity stereotype.’ Finlay thought to himself with a internl sigh of relief before straightening a but while looking her over once more. ”I look forward to a good match.” He said to her respectfully with a nod of his head. It was the baseline attempt at fair sportsmanship he made in most of his matches, more so after his bout with Blair. Bur he would at least attempt to offer that olive branch to Karen.

Karen didnt exactly give off any kind of signal as to which way she was feeling, not out of disdain or an uncaring nature but more because it was better to give an opponent very little to go on. Though she likewise didnt get much from the dude she was put against beyond a few glances as if he was trying to gauge her, it was a game that broke when he finally spoke, nodding at her with a respectful admission. A good start and at least a sign she wasnt going to have to deal with any catcalls from her opponent, well hopefully.

"As am I." Mindy Midnight could be quite the braggart, something she had amped up when she went into her heel turn near the end of Season 1. Karen Meadows could talk but didnt feel like doing so whenever and moments like this talking too much felt pointless, still her tone wasnt impolite. She just sought to get the match started as soon as possible.

The blonde nodded at Karen’s short and less than sweet reply. It was a tone he knew well from using himself quite often. If anything it only made him appreciate her a bit more due to the similarity. Short and to the point, no bluster, just ready. It at least gave him hope she wouldn’t be like other opponet he had faced that had attempted to use their sex appeal or boast against him. Hopefully things would stay like that.

Finally the bell rang starting the match and prompting Finlay to leave his corner. Hands up he approached Karen with a narrowed gaze, wanting to watch the former celebrity carefully, trying to predict when she’d move or what she would try. A part of him did wonder if she would use tactics from her show but he squashed that thought quickly. After all that was a show and this was real life, in any case Finlay wanted to get things started, moving forward quickly he would try to catch her in a lock up tonstsrt grapping with her right off the bat.

Once the bell rang Karen was off to start the match, most of her instincts told her to hold off and not get directly involved but she ignored that part of her and moved in quickly for the lock up, she wanted to make sure that she had a good idea of what he could do. Sure by nature he was probably the stronger one but it’s not like a lock up was always one by the strongest.

Her hands would get on his shoulder and the back of his head as she would try and gain control of his head and maneuver with that, if she could slowly bring his head down to get it under her chest and hold it that way she would would start to slowly bring him down.

Finaly watched Karen carefully allthe way up until the bell rang starting the match officially between the two. Seeing her come in right off the bat arms up, it didn’t take a genuis to figure out what she wanted from such a gesture. Putting his own hands up and dashing forward to meet her halfway he would lock his hands on her shoulder and behind her head at the same moment she did so to him.

Pushing against her in the contest of he kept his eyes locked on hers as he planned out what to do. Grunting softly as he felt her push down on his head, trying tk gain an advantage, he knew that he couldn’t let the former actress have her way. Pivoting on his heel he attempted to turn and use his grip on her neck and shoulder to pull her in and, if successful he would shift his grip on her neck to be around her head to hopefully secure her in a tight side headlock.

The match still being in the early stages would remain a feeling out process, one Karen hoped to gain an edge but with a bigger and stronger opponent was already a tough call. Her initial idea was caught onto before it could be fully utilized and the man in question tried to pivot to pull her head down. Karen was on edge watching and waiting for something and when he tried to sucker her head in she was able to respond and get her head low enough he couldnt properly grab it.

Instead she would turn enough to the side and get a moment to get herself behind him and, but rather then do what she would usually do in this situation and try to pull around his waist she would go lower and try to roll him up to catch him by surprise.

Finlay grunted as he pushed up against Karen, and then down trying to force her head lower for a side headlock, but it appeared he did too good of a job since she went far too low. ‘Clever’ he thought to himself, trying to figure out Karen’s style as the two locked up and grappled. She was lithe and clever, that much was obvious, but she was also a size near his own meaning he couldn’t afford to underestimate her strength should he let her get too close. Case in point, once he felt a arm around his leg he knew ammost instinctively what she would try as she pulled him down.

”Hn.” He said to himself as he was pulled down into the roll up. But he wasn’t going to give her the pleasure of getting so much as a one count. The moment his shoulders touched the mat he threw his weight backward while throwing his hands up to grip Karen’s hips. If successful he would try to roll them over to where their positions were reversed so she’d be the one pinned!

Karen planned to outlast an opponent who probably had the power to spare then she did, and because of this she had to be on point when it came to technical skill. Dropping Finlay down onto the mat and rolling her up she would try and gain a pin but Finlay tried to move out of it just as quickly as he could before trying to break out and look to put her under as well.

Though as he would find she was perfectly capable of getting around such things mostly with her ability to slide through things letting herself be rolled but trying to roll enough that once she was put on her back she could slide through to escape it just as quickly.
