Deep breaths. Deep breaths. Kenji could do this, he could.

It had been a long time since he’d been in the wrestling ring - at least, it had been a long time since he’d been in the wrestling ring while he wore this suit. After a nasty match a couple of years ago, he’d hung up the Skullomania tights and decided to put his wrestling career on the backburner for the time being, going back to training on the sly and being a referee. This decision had greatly improved his health. While he contemplated making an in-ring return from time to time, he always nixed the idea, being content with the way things were going and not wanting to rock the boat.

But now, things have changed. Kenji found himself in a crowd of thousands, standing in the middle of the ring as the crowd greeted him and his

faded. He was ready to compete again, and it was all because of one woman.

”Skylar Jones!” He held his finger high as the crowd booed. ”From the shadows, I have watched. Waited. Learned. Looked. Judged. I have seen your errors, noted your sins and they are most grievous and unjust! You spit on the mixed division with this facade, bring shame to the men and women who competed in our tournament, and dare to proclaim yourself as a champion when you are nothing of the sort! Blasphemy, I call it!”

Hands up, arms high, striking a pose for emphasis - not needed, but it was the Skullomania way.

”You call yourself a champion? I call you a coward! A scoundrel! A vengeful harpy with heinous intent. The farce ends here, the charade is over, because when the light of righteousness shines on the unjust, they can do naught but shy away. I will strike you down and end this nonsense, for the mixed division! For our champion. But most, importantly, FOR! GREAT! JUSTICE!”

Huh, they even remembered his catchphrase and chimed along with it - or more likely, they remembered the catchphrase of the original Skullomania and were giving him residual respect. He wouldn’t shy away from it, either way, and as he tossed the microphone away and faced the entranceway, he felt a sense of pride come over him.

He was ready. He could feel it.

Ever since coming to LAW, Skylar had been unimpressed with the men of the company. The men's division was filled to the brim with perverts and losers who didn't have what it took to wrestle in any men's wrestling company, so they instead infested the undercard of what should have been a women's wrestling company. And in their infestation, they had the audacity to demand a championship that they could compete for, as if a single one of them was worthy of ever being a champion. And to Skylar's disgust, their wish would be granted in the form of the Kings and Queens Championship, an unofficial belt that validated all of the talentless idiots that made up the division. Skylar hated it, and as the Kings and Queens Champion, Oscar Orelash, took a leave of absence, Skylar sought to prove her point that not a single man in LAW deserved to be a champion. A few days ago, she'd bought a plastic toy replica of the Middleweight Title, and wrote MIXED on it with sharpie, declaring herself the LAW Mixed Champion and burying the mixed division publicly. She'd ruffled a lot of feathers, and she already had a number of men lining up to try and prove her wrong, much to her joy. She was gonna run through these losers, crush all of them, and she was gonna have the fucking time of her life doing it.

Warming up in the locker room, she heard Skullomania's speech, snickering. He was one of those guys. A dumbass who thought he was some kind of hero. And the fans were cheering, eating it up. Did they actually think that this fucking geek stood a chance? That's amazing! Fucking hilarious! Sky couldn't wait to see the looks on their faces when she was done with him.

Once Skullomania's promo was finished, the lights suddenly went out, every screen and speaker in the arena playing static. The buzz emanated through the entire arena, before the lights suddenly came back on, Skylar standing atop the ramp as her music began to play. Her fists were at her sides, the Mixed title belt worn not so proudly around her waist. The same audience that'd just been cheering at the challenger's speech now loudly booed and jeered at the champion as she strided down the ramp with a grin on her face. She entered the ring, taking off her belt and stepping up on the turnbuckle and holding it up in the air with one hand, showing everyone just what she thought of LAW's mixed division. Hopping back down to the mat, she handed her title to the referee, before locking eyes on Skullomania. "You're gonna be regretting this for a long fuckin' time, buddy." She said, a sadistic glint in her eyes.

Okay, there she was, there was the belt. Kenji had never been more glad to be wearing a mask, because it hid how nervous he was from the rest of the world. This wasn’t just a chance to do something right for the mixed division, but the best stage he could’ve asked for when making a name for himself. Skylar Jones was no small name in LAW. She was bigtime—championship material. The sort of person a top-rate hero like Skullomania should be facing. He needed opportunities like this if he wanted to ever get to that level.

So, no backing down. No wavering. He was 100% committed.

He breathed deep and kept his convictions as she made her way to the ring, trying not to let her aura psycho him out. She had a weight advantage on him, yes, but it wasn’t anything insurmountable, nothing he couldn't overcome. Just keep his wits, use his speed, and everything would work out, he was sure.

”To regret deeply is to live afresh.” A famous saying, couldn't recall from whom off the top of his head, but Kenji had always liked it. ”I will never regret standing for justice, fiend. Let the dice be cast!”

Sounded heroic enough. Now, he just had to back it up.

Fortune favored the bold, right? The moment the bell rang, Kenji came rushing forward, rapidly closing the distance with Skylar. He waited until he was close, then leaped up and swung his leg through the air, looking to connect with an enziguiri to her face.

Despite the way Skylar saw him as a joke, the audience had faith in the underdog, chanting the name of Skullomania as they waited for the bell to ring, and when it did, the challenger rushed forward, determined. When he was close, he leaped up, swinging an enzigiri at the champion's head!

One... that would be easily blocked.

Without so much as a flinch, Skylar lifted her forearm to block the attack, allowing Skullomania to fall unceremoniously to the mat. Not giving him a chance to recover, Skylar would attempt to grab his leg, and if she got a good hold of it, would try to roll him onto his stomach before lifting the leg and slamming his knee hard into the mat. The crowd booing, she'd do it repeatedly, a bloodthirsty grin on her face. If anyone thought that this corny piece of shit had even the slightest chance against her, they were in for a rude awakening.

…ah, crap. She blocked it.

Kenji grimaced under the mask, glad that no one could see the look on his face when that kick wound up, giving Skylar nothing but a sore arm, if that much. But it was only a little misstep, he could recover from this. He’d just fall down, pick himself back up, and then-

He was just start to rise when he felt her hand around his ankle, gripping tight and flipping him over. Kenji tried to pull away, but wasn’t able to get aware before she lifted him and spiked his knee into the canvas.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Each time hurt worst that last, each time left his leg numb, each time made him howl. By the fourth or so hit, he desperately scratching at the canvas, wanting to make as much distance between himself and this and demon woman as possible.

Over, and over, and over again, Skylar smashed Kenji's knee into the canvas. Many people in the crowd couldn't help but wince or grimace as they imagined the pain he must've felt from Skylar's attack. But with every agonized howl from her victim, the deranged grin on the Dirty Devil's face grew wider. Every sickening thud of her opponent's knee being smashed against the canvas was music to her ears. "Ahhh, fuck yeah..." She sighed to herself, finally dropping Kenji's leg to the ground. She took a moment to stretch, smirking as she watched Kenji weakly try to crawl out of her reach. Walking to his left, she looked down at him with a smile, before stomping hard on his lower back. For a moment, she watched him writhe, before suddenly grabbing his chin and the top of his head, dragging him towards the edge of the ring and shoving his head between the middle and top rope. She kneeled on the back of his neck, crushing it against the ropes to choke him, before beginning to repeatedly punch the side of his head!

Kenji wasn’t sure how many times Skylar smashed his knee into the canvas, but he could confidently say it counted as ‘a lot’. He lost count at some point, far too stunned by the searing pain to follow that sort of thing, and he was a sobbing, shrieking mess when she finally, finally let his pain come to a merciful end.

At least, the pain in his leg. She gave him new pain when she drove her foot into his spine, making him jerk about on the floor like a fish. All he could do was reach up with a pleading hand as she swooped in like a hawk, seized his head, and proceeded to drag him towards the ropes. ”Wait, wait, don’t-”

She did. Oh, did she. Kenji gasped and gagged as he was choked against the ropes, and then the punches came down, each one of them rattling his skull and leaving him senseless. All he could do was squirm there and flailing about as the darkness crept into his vision, a hopeful sign that he might pass out soon.

Skylar had her knee on the back of Kenji's neck, crushing his throat against the middle rope. She grabbed the top rope and lifted her other leg off the ground, using the leverage to put as much pressure as possible on the poor masked man's neck, sticking her tongue out at the audience. Putting her other foot back on the ground, she proceeded to smash her fist against the side of Skullomania's head over and over again. The referee started to count the rope break, and when she got to four, Skylar backed off for a moment, hands in the air and giving the ref a smile, before running forward and again hitting Kenji in the back with her knee.

Grabbing his head, she'd drag him back to the center of the ring, before grabbing the front of his mask and trying to rip it open. She wanted to see the terror and agony she'd inflicted on him with her own eyes, and once she did, her head snapped forward, biting the bridge of his nose and digging her teeth into his face as deeply as she could, wanting to make him bleed.

To be honest, Kenji wasn’t even sure what happened next. It was all so much of a blur.

He vaguely remembered being choked on the ropes, as well as taking numerous strikes to the head, but they came so fast and furious that he wasn’t able to properly process them. It was like he was slipping in and out of consciousness - every few seconds, he would come back to lucidity, only for Skylar to knock him out of it once more.

He was aware of being dragged along, and at first he’d thought - maybe hoped it - it was the referee or security coming to help him. He kept that thought going when he felt the fresh air on his face, not even caring about his identity being exposed anymore. If they needed to get his mask off to help him, then fine.

Then came the bite. That woke him up. He shrieked and squealed as her teeth dug into his nose and the blood began to spill, thrashing around on the canvas like he was being eaten by a wild animal.

Maybe he was.

The crowd wasn't booing anymore.

Instead, they were screaming, recoiling in the shock and horror of what they were witnessing. Skylar felt Kenji's blood on her face, tasted it on her tongue as she mauled him like a savage animal. His wails of pain and terror were like music to her ears as she bit deeper and deeper into his flesh. After she was satisfied with the bite, Skylar let go, pulling her head back. Gripping Kenji's hair, she swung her foot back, before kicking his face like a soccer ball, hoping to put him on his back. Then, with a deranged grin, she pulled her leg up and began to repeatedly stomp on his head.
