Holy crap, this was working.

Kenji could hardly believe it, but that was happening before him. He’d run in, landed his forearm, and not only managed to hit Karolina but seemed to throw her for a loop. She was reeling, leaning against the pads, clearly stunned, and wide open. As much evidence as there had been to the contrary, she seemed to still be human. Maybe he could do this.

He let hesitation rule him for only a second longer, before he broke into a run to the opposite side of the ring. He turned at the last second, hit the pads with his back, then ran back towards Karolina, moving as fast as his legs would take him. The moment he was close enough, he brought his leg up and attempting to hit her with a Running Big Boot, looking to nail her square in the face.

Knocked over by a mosquito. It was annoying beyond all.
Her chest was being poked by needle-pads that were dull and shallow. They couldn't pierce anything -- and the hurt was more itchy and numb, whereas rubbing it only made it more itchy. From a tiny man and his tiny promo and his tiny boots.... Striking her across the face.

"Kh-!" It threw spittle out of her mouth. She turned, collapsed on her front and tasted her own tongue and cringed. The audacity of it all was triumphed by half her face now buzzing. She looked out with shakier vision. She seemed stunned, flat -- then as always, raised a fist, punched down on the canvas and was already pushing her way back up slowly.

What was it going to take to keep this woman down?

Kenji nailed his Big Boot clean, making an impact that surprised even him. He could fee l the feedback on it, felt it travel down his leg, knew it was the sort of attack that would’ve knocked him clean out. At the least, it should have put her on the mat for a few seconds, and he could’ve gotten a pinfall attempt on it…but no. As he moved out of the corner and got into position, he saw - and felt - her punch the ring. Already rising.

Needless to say, but it wasn’t doing wonders for Kenji’s confidence. Knowing that his already miniscule chances of victory were dropping with each second, he threw caution to the wind and moved in, trying to get behind Karolina as she rose. He leaped at her with arms wide, wrapped his arms around her neck, and tried to pull her into a sleeperhold - not the most glamorous move to win a match with, but he’d long since abandoned all hope of winning in style.

Karolina became inevitable.
The first row can always catch a glimpse when she’s knocked down. That face was sour and annoyed rather than strained. She still looked like she was in control, and this was more of a stumble than a fall. It was important for everyone to see. The crowd, her opponents and her family witness the true infallibility of a Reinhardt—a holy grail to emulate. And to live it.

By the time Kenji hit her back, Karolina had learned her lesson from last time he hopped on her back and trained that into an instinct. He felt his arms trying to snake around her neck, so she reached up and grabbed his wrists before they can exert, holding them against her collar as she stood on her two feet. “I’ve seen just about enough.”

She inhaled, held it and then let it go, timed with her latest effort of hunching forward and trying to pull him over her shoulder. Her grip would change. One arm went around his waist, and the other went around too, making a finger grip. She pulled again and tried to adjust him so his head angled straight down, and she stood tall, holding the little man of justice. Then, as a finale, she dropped to her knees with ceremony and tried to spike him with a tombstone piledriver.

It was crazy how quickly things could change, wasn’t it?

In one moment, Kenji felt like the match was finally going his way. He’d reached out and caught her off guard, so it seemed like the only thing he had to do now was get her with a good squeeze, exert some pressure, and then it would all be over in a few hectic moments. Simple enough, right?

Wrong. Kenji had never been more wrong in his entire life, and he learned that when Karolina caught his arm and whipped him over her shoulder with frightening ease. He quickly found himself hanging upside down, in the perfect position for one of the most devastating moves in all of wrestling, and there wasn’t a damn thing he could do about it.

Except beg. ”Wait, wait, don’t-”

Karolina didn’t wait. She went down to her knees, spiked his skull on the canvas, and sent a shock running all the way down from the tip of his skull to the bottom of his toes. His body went ramrod straight after the impact, then flopped down on his back, leaving him laid out, as if a bolt of lightning had struck him. Honestly, he couldn't have imagined that feeling much worse than this.

Count to three, count to three hundred. It wouldn’t make a difference. He was done.

The noise of the canvas shushed the crowd. With Keni's soul had left the crowds.
They just witnessed an execution. An empty field. Karolina flipped her hair back and looked rather plain about it. Like another issue had been solved, and it was just another arch from her back. She got up -- and without ceremony, placed her boot on his chest as the referee slid in, raised their hand and made the count.

"ONE!"
"TWO!"
"THREE!"

The bell sounds and Karolina looks up. Her music played a glorious outro, but Karolina just stood there and placed her hand over her face. Her index and middle dragged down the corner of her eyes. She sighed, swiped her hand away from the referee and made her exit calm and dignified up the ramp. Another day; another hero vanquished. Now, onto a real challenge.

…was the boot on his chest really necessary?

Kenji was done. He wasn’t getting up. He had been defeated. Pinned. Beaten. Vanquished. Annihilated. Destroyed. Discombobulated. Conquered. Trounced. Vanquished. Routed. Overcome. Crushed. Quashed. Quelled. Thrashed. Smashed. Hammered. Whipped. Wiped. Given a hiding, taken to the cleaners, blown out of the water. Pulverized. Pounded. Pasted. Clobbered. Flattened. Shellacked. Marmalized. Ruined. Wrecked. Ran over. Ravaged. Defaced. Undone. Stymied. Mucked up. Fucked up. Freaked up. Terminated. Ravaged. Blighted. Injured. Defaced. Deconstructed. Decimated. Nixed. Dashed. He was in an eternal, undeniable, perpetual state of unvictory.

And she had to make it worse by pinning him with a foot on his chest. Life sucked, sometimes.

He, of course, provided no resistance and was summarily pinned, with Karolina walking off shortly after with all the emotion of someone leaving the tax office. For his part, Kenji just laid there for a bit, rethinking some of his life choices and pondering what sort of pain medicine he should be consuming soon.
