Cecilia presents herself to the world as a sassy brawler who takes shit from no one. Drop dead gorgeous and well aware of it, fun loving, and with a matronly bent towards youngsters she's taken a shine to.
The real Cecilia is plagued with insecurities. About her age and the effects it's having on her body, and how much longer she has before surgery will no longer be enough to keep the mounting years away. About being cared for. Relevant. Loved. About the legacy she'll be leaving behind in the world. These insecurities have led to the development of people pleasing tendencies in some regards, and controlling, violent tendencies in others.

Part 1
Cecilia Monroe, born Betty Gates, was born the oldest child of five siblings. It was a loving household, but poor and, for her, it would be emotionally neglectful. After her siblings came along, she would be expected to take on a detrimental level of responsibility; both parents worked and her siblings were rowdy, which meant that they would get all of the attention. A dynamic that would be consistent through her formative years as she grew to be more levelheaded and reliable. Remaining dutiful, but growing desperate for attention.
Betty would take up a variety of activities to try to catch her parents' eye: Spending long hours in the pursuit of excellence in academics, which were always a struggle for her. Becoming a star of the high school wrestling team like her father. Forming a cover band to pursue a career in music like her mother, an unsuccessful Country artist. Taking up mechanics and working on motorcycles for a time; her father loved them. Nothing would ever be enough to hold them for long, but she would keep trying anyway.
Things wouldn't be much better with her peers, especially where romance was concerned. Puberty shot her up to her current 6'3, but she was rather gangly as a teenager. Most boys were put off by her height, and the few who weren't would only stick around until they'd managed to capture the affections of girls who were more filled out. And the girls? Not a chance. This was during a time in the United States where it was dangerous to be anything but straight, especially in the South. Her parents were accepting of her bisexuality, but she still wouldn't dare explore it until she'd left for more liberal pastures. Which would happen after The Love Puppets disbanded.
Betty's unrelenting perfectionism would be the thing that drove them apart. The other Puppets were in it to have fun. Betty? She wanted her parents to finally see her. Or at least her mother. The differences in their motivations would eventually drive her to become increasingly abusive -- first verbal, then physical -- towards her former bandmates, who would get fed up with the mistreatment and leave to form their own project.
She chose Chicago in the hopes that some long distance would do the trick. And when that failed, she'd settle into the gayborhood and finally start exploring relationships with other women, seeking solace in romance. Getting things going with women would prove a much easier task with the same sex than it ever was with the opposite, but she would not find a single relationship that didn't have some form of drama, if not outright turmoil. And just as it was with her high school boyfriends, she would always find herself being left. Dumped. Cheated on.
During this time, she'd been hitting the gym hard, looking to break into the Chicago-based Combat Wrestling Alliance, a major professional wrestling promotion that had just transitioned from scripted to full-contact action one year prior. They were looking for new talent, as the switch led to a number of others leaving for other companies in the scripted umbrella. But as she lacked the look that was desired of female wrestlers at the time, she would be rejected. Her self-esteem having plummeted to rock bottom now, Betty made the decision to undergo plastic surgery. Some work to her face, and a pair of breast implants. She remained insecure about her butt, which the exercise had brought out wonderfully, but would refrain from getting work done on that as well only because she couldn't afford another procedure.
Ironically, that very same booker she'd met with beforehand would spot her in the gym and, failing to recognize her, approach her with an offer. Although sorely tempted to tell him to go to Hell, she accepted it. Betty loved pro-wrestling, and saw it as the ticket to all the attention and love she'd been looking for. Her two brothers watched professional wrestling religiously, so she figured that if she made it onto TV...
At the very least, she'd have the fans.
Betty would have to go through developmental first, but afterwards, she would go on to make her debut as Cecilia Monroe; "Betty Gates doesn't have the same kick", she was told. A suggestion that she was happy to go with if it got her what she wanted.
Cecilia would play the good girl at first. Please the fans, get as many of them on her side as she could. In spite of her efforts, however, she would fail to form a deep connection with them. After a few conversations with CWA's talent manager, who was a retired ring veteran, she would have it suggested to her that she go out there with more attitude. Show the sass that she's got when hanging around backstage, with a little oomph thrown in there. Maybe with a dash of mean girl.
Although uncertain, she would take his advice. But it would work out for her, as it led to her becoming a Heel that sat firmly in the "love to hate" category. The bitch that people enjoy seeing at work, to such an extent that she would eventually garner more fans than some of the babyfaces.
And being on TV would indeed bring about the result that she was looking for with her parents after her brothers had pointed her out to them as hoped. They weren't pleased about the surgeries, but were happy to see her doing big things on TV and travelling across the States. They would watch the show every chance they got, even coming out to see her live every time the CWA came around to San Antonio.
Love would even find its way to her in the form of Pierce Anderson, a fellow wrestler. It was a whirlwind romance that would lead to them tying the knot quickly, not even a year in.
Betty's parents finally saw her. She was living in marital bliss with a loving husband. And she had the adoration of millions of wrestling fans. At last, all was right in her life.

Part 2
But alas, it would not last.
Betty and Pierce's relationship would become troubled after the former's infertility was revealed. They both wanted to start a family, and for Pierce, adoption wasn't good enough. And for Betty, the option of bringing in a surrogate mother was unacceptable. It would be viewed in her eyes no differently from cheating, no matter how far removed from intercourse it would have been. This impasse would lead to arguments, and as other problems arose, the relationship would break down even further until a devastating event would bring them together:
Her parents' passing. First her mother, and then her father a few months later.
But this bond over the loss would not erase the problems that still existed between them, and alas, it would not last. Getting worse now, as Betty turned to alcohol to deal with lingering grief and the mounting stress. Their arguments would turn violent, primarily on Betty's end as she showed herself to be quite the angry drunk, against which the larger Pierce would defend himself as non-violently as he could. As their marriage continued to dissolve, they would prove more and more often to be unable to even live in the same household, with Pierce either walking out or being kicked out on a regular basis as accusations of infidelity were flung at him.
This would bleed over into wrestling as well, as she suspected him of having affairs with other women in the locker room and attacked these supposed homewreckers. After an assault on a newcomer, an old friend of his who turned out to be a lesbian, Pierce would finally move out and file for divorce. CWA itself would release her after she showed up drunk to an event following being served the papers.
Pierce had never been unfaithful.
Betty would look for work in other promotions, but no one was looking to hire her after she'd made such a spectacle of herself. And so she moved back to San Antonio. Hopping from bar to bar, burying the pain beneath glass after glass of tequila. Eventually, she'd end up seated in one that had an owner with a job opportunity. Rosie McArthur featured oil wrestling in her establishment as a means of drawing in more customers, and what better way to bring even more people in than getting the hometown star in on it?
She didn't care about what Betty had done. Rosie was fresh out of a bad relationship herself, so the vibe was "been there, done that." Keyed the fucker's car and threw a brick through the window to his house.
Betty started off real awkward, somehow managing to slip less than others, but still clearly having no clue what she was doing in the slicky substance. But the other wrestlers weren't pros either, so her size and strength would be enough to get her through. But in time, she would become pretty good at it. She would even be able to perform some of her pro wrestling tricks every so often. But only the softer stuff; messing each other up wasn't the goal.
While fun and presenting a nice pathway into some sexy hookups here and there, it just wasn't the same as regular old wrestling. But it was good money, so she kept at it. And after fixing up a regular patron's motorcycle, she would start up an unofficial service and make a few extra bucks on the side.
Rosie would also show her the ins and outs of running a bar after she'd expressed an interest, eventually taking her on to help her run it. After this transition to working behind the bar, she would only wrestle on the weekends, but she would prove to be just as popular there as she was in the pit. She knew how to party, and most people want to party with the hot blonde by default.
Rosie's was an establishment that encouraged its bartenders to drink, which would exacerbate Betty's developing problem with alcohol. She would never get drunk at work, but the next few years would see her form a dependence: Going dry for too long in a day would make her ill-tempered. And just plain ill after a while longer.
Rosie herself had issues with drugs, so she would look past it.
Betty would meet a woman. Debra Marshall, a sweet, fun country girl who was out seeing more of the world as she made a name for herself in the Atlantic City-based High Octane Wrestling, a recently formed full-contact promotion that caught eyes with its six-sided ring and creative match types. The two would hit it off quickly, with Debra meeting up with her after hours to introduce her to a more intimate form of wrestling. The next day, she would put in a good word to have her added to the roster. It had been long enough since the public implosion of her marriage with Pierce Anderson for promoters to feel comfortable with giving her a second chance.
As she had before, she would play the part of the Heel, and the fans would still have love for the way Cecilia operated. Almost as though she'd never left the game.
Her relationship with Debra would be short-lived, however: After nine months, during which they had become an exclusive couple, Debra would be discovered to have been having secret sexfighting trysts with other members of the locker room. Things would quickly take a violent turn during a confrontation in which a drunken Cecilia, unable to handle yet another instance of abandonment in her love life, would viciously beat her, leading to a lengthy stay in the hospital. As this was an incident of violence between two full-contact professional wrestlers, law enforcement would not get involved. And HOW would keep her on, which would be the subject of controversy both in the locker room and outside of it.
But her hunting of Debra's affair partners -- all of whom were aware of their relationship, as it was public -- would engender some sympathy for her. Again, both outside the locker room as well as the inside. In particular, there would be a few members of a circle who held private sexfighting gatherings in between shows (which would be an increasingly common practice within full-contact wrestling rosters as it grew in popularity), in which Debra was a member, who would come to her with offers to help...cheer her up and get over the betrayal. New friends who would remain by her side when audiences turned against her.
But even with their support, the backlash would be too much for Betty to take. And so, she would make her second exit from the world of wrestling. She would remain in touch with them, even discussing plans years later about forming a nightclub centered around sexfighting. Similar to the Erotic Combat Club, but with full-contact action, as opposed to a classic mat wrestling ruleset. "Cecilia's Corner", it would be called.
She was in the process of having it built when she was imprisoned under charges of domestic abuse against her ex-wife. The ugly combination of deep-rooted insecurity, jealousy, and her alcoholism had reared its head yet again.

Part 3
It would be during this time that she would meet Rachel Evans, known professionally as Raven. Rachel was in for aggravated assault against a rival in the ECC. She refused to go into specifics, but insisted that the victim had it coming. She'd been sentenced to three years that became four with the help of a violent temper that poked holes in her terse version of events. But as time went on, Cecilia (she'd legally changed to Cecilia Monroe by this point, believing that no one would ever want to get to know Betty Gates) cared less and less as they grew closer. The two had bonded over their similar pasts: Neglect that they'd suffer as children, troubles with their peers, debilitating abandonment issues and the violence that they cause...
With Cecilia's (relatively) cooler demeanor to Rachel's more impulsive, combined with a seventeen year age difference, the two would form a mother-daughter dynamic of sorts. Which both had wanted but had never received in their lives.
As they were both looking at being released around the same time, discussions would arise concerning Rachel joining her in her club after its construction is complete. An offer that she would accept.
The roster would begin with the two of them, along with Cecilia's friends, who were ready and waiting. And more would soon come along. The club had been advertised as a step forward in American sexfighting, with bouts that weren't as restrained as those seen in the ECC, which was denigrated as a relic of the past being headed by an out of touch misogynist. And with the busty blonde at the head, Cecilia's Corner would see rapid growth of its fanbase, even poaching some fans from the ECC. They would even lure a few competitors over here and there. Some looking for the bigger payday that had been promised, others looking for stiffer competition, or some combination of both.
But alas, it would not last.
Cecilia's favoritism of the original five other members would lead to the club becoming a toxic workplace as their behaviors grew worse, leading to a high turnover rate among the roster. Many talents would be bullied out of the club, with an even more unfortunate few having to leave (and in one case, retire) due to injury. For two years, replacements would come quickly enough for her to continue to ignore it, until she could at last, she could do it no longer.
The first nail in the coffin would come at the hands of Amelia Howard, a former member of the roster who went to social media with a chronicle of events that had gone down over the course of the year that she was present before being fired, revealing how Cecilia would enable the horrible behavior of her favorites. Amelia herself would be fired following a violent confrontation with Raven, with whom her best friend Scott Spears would have a relationship rife with toxicity that he would be blamed for.
The second nail would be provided by Cecilia herself, when she was arrested after hospitalizing her boyfriend at the time. She attempted to pass it off as self-defense, but video evidence provided by a neighbor would reveal her to be the instigator and sole perpetrator of the violence. Cecilia's Corner would close its doors in the wake of the controversy that followed.
Having been exposed and wanting to save their own skins to the best of their ability, the friends that she'd looked out for above all others would distance themselves while she served her sentence. All except for Rachel, who would often visit when she wasn't busy with her work in the independent circuit.
Cecilia would be released two years later for good behavior. Soon after, she would submit a video audition to LAW, who had recently signed Raven. A recruiter would approach her with a contract afterwards.

Strategy:
Spoiler
Cecilia's primary stock-in-trade is power. She goes in with initiative and aggression, looking to either grapple with her opponents right away to get to work on slamming the air out of their lungs and the good sense out of their brains, or blasting the latter out with their fists. Depending on whether the opponent likes to stand their ground or move around, she'll either charge right in like Rocky Balboa (although she isn't a boxer) or try to cut off the ring and suffocate her opponents like a proper in-fighter (albeit one who trades rather than counters), pressuring them into either swinging back or grappling, either option playing into her strengths. She also has some slight technical knowledge, mostly thanks to some training done with Raven, but it's not where she works best.
Once she has a foot in the door, she'll move on to other maneuvers like Big Boots, Spinebusters, and lariats, and later on down the line, maybe even a little bit of high flying. She isn't the fastest or most agile wrestler out there, especially at her age, but she's still got enough in that tank to surprise an opponent every now and again. She also has a great sense of balance for someone her size, which makes her a strong contender in oil, which she is experienced in.
Another thing of note is the mean streak that Cecilia has developed in recent years. While not flatout sadistic, she tends to draw her matches out for longer than necessary, utilizing harsher strikes and maneuvers. She also has a developing taste for hardcore action that wasn't present in the past.
