Wrestling Information
Strategy: When most people see Lance’s size, they peg him as your typical powerhouse wrestler, and while that’s not entirely inaccurate - he will happily throw you around the ring - he’s actually much more technical and nuanced than most expect him to be, boasting a finesse that allows him to confound opponents when power fails him.Style: Old School
Type: Pro Wrestler
Strengths
- Raw power
- Strong technical skills
- Good ring awareness
- Plays fair, unless Cross orders him otherwise.
- An orthodox wrestler, he’s easily flummoxed by wilder opponents.
- His oath makes him particularly susceptible to sensual wrestlers and tactics.
Preferred Matches: Standard, I Quit, Submission, Pure Rules
Attitude to Hentai: ”I took a vow of chastity. So…”
Signature Match
[Oathkeeper Match]: The central match of the Paladin’s history. This is a regular wrestling match done under Pure Rules - no interference allowed, 20-second countouts, only three submissions allowed before submissions are legal everywhere, and a twenty-minute time limit with judges deciding the winner if it goes past that. The key is that the Paladin puts his oath on the line, and only the person he currently holds an oath to can allow it. His opponent must wager something of great value. If the Paladin loses the match, he comes under the complete service of whoever he loses to and must do as they ask (in wrestling, anyway) until the Oath is passed on in another Oathkeeper match.
Endurance:★★★★★ - Has a patented ‘Never Quit’ attitude.
Strength:★★★★★ - Big, strong boy.
Speed:★★★ - Light on his feet, for a man his size.
Defense:★★★ - Is a competent repelling offense, but tends to be better when he’s dishing it out.
Technique:★★★★ - Was well-trained, and he’s always learning.
Wrestling Statistics
Strikes:★★★ - Not exactly a boxer, but he has strong strikes, if a bit on the slower side.
Submissions:★★★ -
Powerhouse:★★★★★ -
Aerial:★★★ - Not his forte, but he has a mean elbow drop.
Counters:★★★★ - With a strong knowledge of wrestling, he can counter most moves if he sees them coming.
Signature Moves:
The Bells of Notre-Dame
Lance hangs his foe chest-first over the ropes, then slams ten heavy forearms down onto their chest one at a time while the crowd counts each blow.
Trial by Fire
Lance hoists his opponent onto his shoulders, then pulls them forward and down as he sits out, driving their face and chest into the canvas.
Sacred Vows
Lance hits a quick series of backbreakers, then hooks a leg into the cover. It's reserved for anyone who dares to break their word.
Durendal
Lance coils in the corner, waiting for his opponent to stagger up, then charges across the ring and fires a leaping boot straight to their jaw.
Heaven Sent
Lance traps both of his opponent's arms across his shoulders in a crucifix, lifts them high so they're held like a cross, then sits out and spikes them back-first into the mat.
Oathbreaker
Lance crosses his opponent's legs, steps through and turns them over, sitting back deep to wrench the knees and lower back.
Personal Information
Personality
Lance is, in many ways, the paragon of what a virtuous wrestler should be. Steadfast and stalwart, he boldly faces any and all challengers, never backing down in the face of great strife. He believes in fair play and chivalry, and strives to protect the weak and downtrodden.
If Lance has one flaw, it’s the oath that he’s sworn to uphold, which makes him beholden to a single entity - in this case, Arthur Cross. He’s been forced to do some rather despicable acts over the years since he swore his service, and it’s honestly started to wear on his once-optimistic attitude, making him forced to work with villains.
Many would’ve broken the oath long ago, but Lance is honest and virtuous to a fault and would never break the tradition passed down for centuries. It’s both his greatest strength and weakness.

History
To understand the Paladin, we have to go back. Way back. Hundreds of years.
Though there’s no agreement on exactly when the Paladin tradition started, most agree he was a traveling do-gooder who began around the time of the French Revolution. He traveled from town to town across the country, doing his best to help the weak and innocent and protecting those he could. Before he died, he passed on his charge to another, and thus the Oath of the Paladin was born - every generation, a new young man would take up the charge and dedicate his life to serving the country in some capacity, be it as a soldier, a police officer, et cetera.
Eventually this tradition worked its way into the sport of wrestling, with the Paladin becoming a figure in the burgeoning French wrestling scene. Lance was the latest in their line, handpicked by his predecessor to serve in CAGE UK. For years, he ruled the roost as the promotion's top babyface, pledging to protect all those who fought under its banner.
That was, until Arthur Cross’ coup attempt. Lance stood against Arthur and his Hellfire Club, becoming a major thorn in their side. Looking to take them off the board, he challenged Arthur directly to an Oathkeeper Match, the Paladin’s most sacred rite. If Arthur lost, he would have to shut down the Hellfire Club and leave CAGE UK forever. If he won, Lance would be in his service, until such time as another could beat him again in the match.
Risky? Yes. But by this point, Lance had beaten Arthur twice in combat, even when he’d had the Hellfire Club to back him up. A match where he had to compete without their help seemed like an easy win.
As you might have guessed, Arthur won.
It was a long, grueling match, but the rich boy showed a tenacity and spirit that had simply not been present at their earlier encounters. By the narrowest of margins, he was able to take Lance to the limit and score the judge’s decision.
Bound by his oath, Lance joined the Hellfire Club as their enforcer; though he wasn’t happy about it, he did as told and was effective. When Arthur was ousted from the company, Lance, still bound to their service, was obliged to come with them.
After a few weeks back home to recharge his batteries, Lance finally traveled to Japan, where Arthur had already begun to make some interesting moves in LAW.

+ The only thing Lance cares about as much as his oath is his beard. He keeps it trim and pristine, spending an inordinate amount of time on manscaping.
+ Though he doesn’t care too much for her actions, he actually gets along decently with Alex outside of work. They’ve even gone on friendly outings together.
+ Before he got into wrestling, Lance was into horse-riding, coming from a family with a long history of horse breeding.
