Nationality: Japanese
Alignment: Face
Fighting style: Ryu is primarily a grappler. He can work over foes both bigger and smaller than himself. The Blue Dragon aims to redirect his opponents' weight back onto them rather than simply overpower them. A good judge of character, Ryu understands how to let his opponents help him to defeat them.
Finishers and Signatures
Likes: Manga, American comics, volleyball, pork buns, figure collecting, indie rock and pop, nu metal, Norse mythology, short and cute girls.
Dislikes: Having to fight girls that are his type, insects, speaking to customers at his part time job, his sleep schedule,
Personality: Ryu is a kind guy who ranges between open and excitable to somewhat awkward and introverted. Ryu is a very passionate person but is insecure due to how loud he can be and often tries to hold himself back, often anxious about if his friends actually like him. Despite this, his passion is often to his benefit, giving gim a "never give up" attitude in the face of adversity. When Ryu falls in love he falls hard, but he tries to keep some sense about himself due to never having any prior luck, often doubting himself in regards to romance. In the ring, Ryu can have some difficulty giving it his all against female opponents. It's a mental block he has mostly overcome, but girls that are his type are especially difficult to combat though he will still do his best!
History: Since he was 12, Ryu has wanted to become a pro-wrestler in spite of his short stature. From the beginning, Ryu's goal was LAW and he worked hard. Early on, Ryu developed his own style and made a name for himself as the captain of the boys' wrestling team in his high-school. However, there was one main issue with his goal to be in LAW, being that the Blue Dragon felt too awkward fighting girls to ever possibly compete in common mixed matches. When facing off against the opposing team captain, Hana Tanaka, Ryu hardly stood a chance against her despite a negligible gap between them. Seeing that he was having some trouble, a kind young woman named Yozakura Fukuda took it upon herself to train and spar with Ryu until he could overcome his awkwardness in the ring with women, unknowingly being Ryu's exact type of girl. It took quite a while, but the dent in Ryu's abilities was mostly smoothed out, however, with one caveat. Yozakura had seemed perfect to the Blue Dragon throughout their time together and over the course of their friendship, Ryu developed deep feelings for Kura. As graduation grew nearer, Ryu confessed his feelings for the shortstack, but they were not reciprocated. Being as close as they were, the two pledged to remain friends as nothing could tear them apart, but for Ryu his heart was broken in spite of the maintained friendship. With the two of them having less contact after graduation, Ryu focused on furthering his abilities in the ring, becoming even less bothered by fighting in mixed matches as he aimed to close his heart off, though he could never fully discard his discomfort. However, now signed to LAW, Ryu wonders in the back of his mind if he could ever find a connection like what he had with Yozakura again.

Thoughts on others
Yozakura Fukuda (friend): "Things have been complicated, I guess, but Kura has always been one of my best friends. I doubt that'll ever change, though we have spoken less lately."
Hana Tanaka (friend/rival): "My main goal was honestly always just to beat Hana, both as a club captain and a fighter. She's not easy to beat at anything, though."
