Tournament Start Date (in relation to each other)

So a basic question, when should tournaments start in relation to each other. For example, if the Middle weight tournament finals started on say Jan 20, should we start the lightweight tournament on that date or should we wait until the middle weight tournament finishes before starting the lightweight tournament. So start a tournament at the finals or start a tournament after the finals. Please leave a vote indicating which you would prefer more.
