Chase Hunter

Name: Chase Hunter
Gimmick: Prince of the Squared Circle
Species: Anthro King Cheetah
Age: 19
Hair: Tawny Brown
Eyes: Cerulean Blue
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Alignment: Heel
Origin: Newport Beach, CA

Entrance Music:
Centuries - Fall Out Boy
Style: Lucha Infusion
Chase was born and raised by lucha libre, but has been leagues removed from the source for nearly his entire life. Though he retains much of the technical and aerial prowess, it's become more a flavor for the speedy Americanized cruiserweight. Of course, that's overlooking his panache for cheating if things start to go against him. Or if he thinks he can get away with it. Or if he just wants to punish his opponent for being defiant. Any excuse will do.

Preferred Matches:
Standard matches, multi-fall matches, No-DQ, and so on. Steers away from "soft" matches or hentai.

Stats:
Endurance: 3/5 - He's a cheetah. But cheetahs are sprinters, not endurance runners. So while athletic, it has a limit.
Strength: 3/5 - Solidly strong, but not outmuscling the ones who put focus on that.
Speed: 5/5 - He's a cheetah cruiserweight. You saw this coming.
Defense: 3/5 - Capable enough of defending, though he prefers to remain on the offense.
Technique: 4/5 - Technical savvy, between throws and submissions, is his other strongsuit. Kind of a shame that he leans on cheating, given this.

Strikes: 3/5 - Though he doesn't employ strikes often, he has a few that hit hard.
Submissions: 4/5 - One of his strengths, securing submission holds and making an opponent suffer.
Powerhouse: 3/5 - The slams and throws he typically uses rely on leverage and body mechanics, less on raw physical power.
Counters: 3/5 - Adequate, when there's an opening. This is largely fueled by speed and a familiarity with wrestling as artistry.
High Flying: 5/5 - Though his slams are nothing to sneeze at, when Chase really wants to do damage, it's with an aerial maneuver.

SIGNATURE MOVES:
The Majestic
(Shooting Star Press)
-Whether executed from a top turnbuckle, springing off the ropes, running at a downed foe, or standing still, Chase can pop off this versatile signature move on any prone opponent. A single backflip with forward motion, arms and legs drawn back to slam his sleek abdominals across the stomach of his rival, typically followed by remaining in place for the pin.

Royal Boot
(619 Kick)
-Flashy and fueled by momentum, any time Chase catches an opponent hung on the ropes and facing the audience, they're in danger of getting the Royal Boot. Usually ropeshooting off the cables behind the opponent, Chase rushes across the ring, grabs the middle and top ropes beside the opponent, and lets momentum swing his body around for a lateral double-kick delivered to the face.

Path of Ruin
(Triple Suplex)
-Less flashy and more about punishing his opponent, Chase may take the opportunity to chain sequential suplexes together to really hammer an opponent. Though the first two may be a more standard style suplex, the series may cap off with something a little more intricate to serve as an exclamation mark.

Golden Throne
(Liontamer Submission)
-Aside the camel clutch and romero special, a favored submission hold of his is the liontamer, favoring the severity of it and letting the audience relish in his foe's helplessly stretched form while he remains poised dominantly over them. Though starting like one might expect a standing boston crab, he sinks down into position by pressing his knee just beneath the shoulders in the upper-back, pinning their chest to the mat while arching them painfully.

FINISHERS:
Kingmaker
(Argentine Sidewalk Slam)
-Chase loads the opponent across his shoulders, then swings them around his shoulders to a sideloaded position, and uses that momentum combined with his own bodyweight to drop to the side, slamming their back against the mat and his weight against their torso. He'll typically turn a little more over the opponent to lie more over them and hook the leg for the pin.

Coup D'Etat
(Top Rope Spanish Fly)
-With an opponent dazed on the top turnbuckle, Chase climbs up to join them. His arms hook around their waist, hugging front-to-front with them, before leaping back in a smooth backflip. Ultimately, the opponent is slammed hard onto their back, with Chase's full bodyweight splashing down atop them. From there, he typically remains lying over them for the pin.

Personality:
Chase was, at one point, an upbeat cheetah who viewed professional wrestling in a sporty, friendly way. But over time, the pressure to succeed - and surpass - his father overwhelmed the friendly side. Now, it's all about winning. It doesn't matter how, through what means, just winning. To that end, the training he'd received is still valuable and useful, but only as a tool to achieve what he needs: victory. Without victory, he's stuck living in the shadow of either his father, or the idea of what he "should have" been. So the end result is a confident, seemingly arrogant, haughty bully in the ring leaning heavily into the royalty bit.

It's important to understand the prince gimmick is a self-aware one. He doesn't suffer from megalomania, or believe himself to be actual royalty of some kind. It's an acceptance of his assigned role as the successor to a king, and using it as a marketing strategy. It's effective, after all. So the remarks he makes in the ring, during promos, or with fans are entirely for show, including seeking to aggressively dominate opponents. Any pointing out of his cheating is, naturally, denied or downplayed, or justified in some form or another. However, it's outside the ring that the pressure to perform and focus on what he perceives as the most important thing (i.e., winning) shows most of all. Taciturn, defensive, and joyless are all fine ways to describe his manner. Not because he thinks that's the way he should behave, but rather because he's secretly miserable trying to live up to a standard he thinks everyone is holding him to.

It's possible to break through that. After all, he doesn't genuinely mean anyone malice. But doing so may require a tremendous amount of patience.

History:
Son of the renowned and much-loved luchador, El Rey Dorado ("The Golden King"), Chase was raised in the shadow of his father's illustrious career. Regarded as a heroic figure versus any and all wily evildoers in the ring, El Rey Dorado built his fame throughout Mexico, and later in the United States where he finally married. Professional wrestling was always an important facet in the Hunter tradition, ranging throughout Middle and North America generationally. But El Rey Dorado was, without a doubt, the most prominent and successful. Thus, as Chase grew older and continued training, many expected him to follow in the family tradition.

Perhaps more importantly, Chase was expected to directly succeed his father. Everything else in his life took a backseat early on - no arts, barely any hobbies to speak of, only what socializing he'd get through school or training as a teenager. In fairness, Chase was fine with that. He loved the idea of continuing the tradition, mesmerized by the idea of competing for fame, glory, and wealth. But somewhere along the way, the message got twisted. It stopped being about the positive, and began focusing on the negative. What if he couldn't succeed his father? No matter what else he achieved, that seemed to be the primary focus of his burgeoning career. That would forever hang over his head, a mark of failure, the shame of the family lineage.

Thus began Chase's focus purely on results. Nobody cares about a loser. Losers don't exceed their predecessors. History is written by the victors, after all. The only thing that started to matter was surpassing El Rey Dorado. And though his debut was good and pure, it took a single loss and excessive comments from both social media and individuals close to the family drove him to focus strictly on this. He doesn't care about the audience booing him. He only cares about the win in the end. It's all that matters.

He's since isolated himself from family, shutting out the negative feedback. In an ironic twist, his need to live up to expectations has resulted in his failure. Not that he realizes that. Nothing matters beyond proving himself.

Relationships:
Friends: None, naturally. There are a few sycophants out there, though.
Enemies: Everyone, probably.
Romance: Unless there's a princess to kidnap...
Rivals: Everyone. You, especially. That's right, you!

Fun Facts:
-King Cheetahs are an actual thing! They're an exceptionally rare genetic offshoot of cheetah with splotches rather than spots.
-Chase hates being compared to his father.
-Chase belongs to an anthro-oriented federation called the Jungle Wrestling Alliance.
