Dropping a Match in Gasoline

Unread post by Deskfan45 »

Skylar Jones had never been the most popular wrestler.

Sure, she'd done well back in the indies, but she didn't have too many fans other than the small fan bases around the promotions she'd worked at. But, that was before she signed on to LAW. The Japanese promotion was by far the highest profile and highest budget promotion the brawler had worked at, and now, she was seeing the biggest success of her career!

This was her first time attending a convention, and she wasn't just an attendee either! LAW had arranged for her to sign autographs here! The idea of people lining up to get her autograph made Sky grin. Thank god she wasn't the type to let fame go to her head, otherwise she'd probably embarrass herself. The brunette sat at a black cloth covered folding table, fiddling with her pen. The convention had only just started, and not many people had arrived yet. The person she'd be sharing this table with hadn't even shown yet.

Alizeh smiled happily as she walked through the convention center that she had been booked to do some autographs at today. Having arrived a little early Alizeh decided to walk around a bit in order to check out some of the stalls and do some impromptu selfies with anyone who happened to recognize her.

Wearing a somewhat loose yellow long sleeve crop top along with blue jeans and a pair of slip on shoes that she had actually bought today at the convention. They were the type that had anime graphics printed on them, these in particular were asymmetric with each shoe being asta and yuno respectively from Black Clover.

In other words Alizeh was already having a grand time before even doing the meet and greet which was supposed to be with another person, though she didn't know who. But oh well she would find out in a- Turning a corner Alizeh saw her table mate and blanched slightly seeing it was Skylar Jones. "Wellllll ok." Alizeh said to herself before sighing softly and approaching.

She had nothing against the brunette personally but Alizeh had seen the girl's attitude on both twitter and in matches and Alizeh couldn't say she approved. In fact Alizeh found it pretty detrimental for the locker room atmosphere since more than once she had heard girls complaining about the Iowan more than once.

None the less though Alizeh would at least try and be civil. "Hey Skylar yeah? I'm Alizeh nice to meet ya, looks like we'll be doing this meet and greet together." Alizeh would say neutrally with a smile as she walked around the table and pull her chair out to take a seat before holding her hand out to Skylar for a hand shake.

Skylar leaned back in her chair, tipping it back a little. Not exactly the vision of professionalism, but Sky never really acted like a professional anyway. Hell, not even she knew why she still had a job. She liked to think she was just so big a draw that the management just bit the bullet and tolerated her antics. Though, that was unlikely, as she was upper mid card at best.

It wasn't long before the person she'd be sharing a table with arrived. Sky looked and smiled, seeing Alizeh Midori, one of the other big names at LAW. "Yup, that's me! Good to meet ya too!" The brunette grinned, shaking Alizeh's hand. As the other girl sat down next to her, she continued tipping her chair. "Y'know, this is my first time signing autographs..."

Alizeh was definitely on the apprehensive side with this event. After all she knew all too well from watching how Skylar can be in matches, let alone some of the other shenanigans she had gotten into. But if nothing else it was at least a weight off her chest that the girl didn't seem to have any beef with the green haired girl.

Even so however Alizeh remained on guard. After all who knew what could set the brunette next to her off? "Yeah their boring at first but they always pick up. But its a great way to interact with fans." She said in response to Skylar's admission that this was her first signing. After all she was the more experienced between the two, may as well dispense some wisdom if and when she could.

As people flooded into the convention, Sky tipped her chair back, slouching a little with her arms hanging off the side of the chair. "Heh, guess we got a good day ahead of us than..." She said, stretching. As fans started lining up, Sky pulled the cap off of her sharpie, and signed whatever the fans handed her, having pleasant interactions with them along the way. "Heh, this is fun." She told Alizeh.

As fans began to pour in Alizeh couldn't help breathe a small sigh of relief. After all even in spite of Skylar's friendliness the green haired girl couldn't deny there was a certain... unease. Not just for the girl's violent tendencies but also just her apparent lack of respect for how things should be done.

But either way for now things were going fine and the fans were a welcome distraction, or rather more of a buffer to give Alizeh something to focus on since Skylar obviously was keen on interacting. Turning her head over after signing her first autograph and taking a selfie Alizeh offered a sheepish smile at the brunette's words.

"Yeah these kinds of conventions always brings people in droves haha." as she said this another fan came up with a small girl, prompting Alizeh to smile as she signed the girls shirt before taking a selfie with her. "So uh Skylar out of curiosity how long have you been wrestling?" Alizeh asked after she finished up with the little girl as the next set of fans as they came up.

Skylar was having fun, signing autographs and talking with fans. She felt loved, something she didn't often feel while talking to fans. As Alizeh asked a question, Sky faced her with a smile. "'Bout three 'n a half years. Started on the indies in Iowa and worked my way up here." She explained. Someone handed her a copy of the Ladies of LAW calender, and she signed the page she was featured on. It seemed someone was trying to get the autographs of all the women featured on it. After wishing the fan luck, she turned back to Alizeh. "How 'bout you?"

Alizeh nodded to Skylar as she spoke about her history. Made sense, though Alizeh didn't know very much about the Iowan indie circuit but at least the brunette had indie experience, and she started at around fifteen, so at least one kinda similarity between them. Signing another autograph Alizeh took a selfie with a guy who looked... way too happy to be there but he was nice enough so she sent him on his way. Regardless Alizeh would turn to Skylar after doing so.

"Well officially I started my physical training at ten but I had watched and was learning from matches since I was about five, and I made my professional debut when I was thirteen... well technically twelve but we had to fib a little in order to get it set up." Alizeh explained her own history, and sounding more than a bit proud as she did so. After all not many people her age could say they sported almost ten years of experience under their belt.

"Damn girl. And I thought I started young." Skylar laughed. "I got my start in IIWA when I was 16. Lost my first few matches, but I like to think I did pretty well back there. Even won a tournament." The brunette said with pride. As a fan handed her a photo to sign, her eyes beamed. "Speak of the devil." She grinned, turning the photo to show Alizeh a picture of herself at 17 in a backyard show, tangled up in barbed wire ropes with thumbtacks sticking out of her jeans and hoodie, a crimson mask covering her face. Despite her dire situation, there was a manic grin on her face. She signed the photo, handing it back to the fan with a smile. "You ever been to a backyard fed?"

Alizeh chuckled softly at what Skylar said about her starting out so early. After all it wasn't exactly common for wrestlers to start so young. Not unheard of, but definitely rare, so whenever she told anyone Alizeh expected the reaction. "Hehe well it helps when you have the connections and the drive ya know?" She said before turning to look at the photo Sky showed her. Resisting the urge to cringe a little bit from the graphic nature of it Alizeh would smile at Sky. "A few times. Mostly with others. Super hardcore stuff isn't usually my forte but I made sure to check it out just so I'd have an idea of it." Alizeh said as she leaned back and smiled at the next person in line who came up.
