Mother's day with the Tanakas.

A teapot hissed and a cup scrapped a kitchen counter as a heavy greenette poured herself a cup of green tea. It was Inko Tanaka, alone and bored in the house. With Hana having moved out and tonight being date night with her girlfriend, and Akane on tour with the Hex Girls, Inko honestly wasn't expecting more than the happy mother's day texts from her daughters she had received, (and the champagne and card sent by her estranged sister). Sitting down at the table Inko took a sip of her tea and sighed, looking solemnly at a photo of her late husband the greenette began to speak. "Oh I wish you were still here Hizashi. It was tough having Akane leave when you were still here. Now our little Hana's out of the house and it's just me." Inko's tone was soft and sorrowful, missing her beloved ever more since Hana had moved out.

Taking another sip of her tea, the rough mother straightened up as she heard a knock at the door. Getting up to investigate Inko opened the door to be greeted with a wonderful sight. "Surprise!" "Surprise." Inko was greeted by the sight of both her daughters at her door, holding flowers, a card and a wrapped gift. "Girls?! But, Hana, I thought Sundays were you and AJ's date night? And I thought you were touring, Akane?" Both Tanaka sisters let themselves into their old home, setting stuff down on the table and smiling to their mother. "Next show is just a town over and it's in another 6 days. I got time, mom." Akane answered casually as she sat down at the table alongside her younger sister. "And I just rescheduled with AJ!" Hana answered in a chipper tone, not having to feel nervous like usual, around her family. Inko was overjoyed at the sight of her daughters. Opening her arms wide Inko went to hug her girls. "Oh girls. I love you both so much." Inko stated with pure joy in her heart. "We love you too, mom." "Mhm!".

Pouring her daughters their own cups of tea, Inko joined them back at the table. "I'm so happy you both came to visit. It has been lonely here the past couple of months." Inko admitted, her solemn tone returning slightly as she glanced at Hizashi's photo. "We know it's sad that we're both gone and dad's not here, mom. I'm sorry. Hana spoke sadly, knowing that her leaving had taken a toll. "Now don't you dare apologise to me young lady. I'm happy that my two lovely daughters are out living their own lives now." Inko replied sternly, but still with a smile, sipping her tea. "Yeah, but still, mom, we know it's not the easiest thing being here on your own. That's why we got you this." Akane said, passing the wrapped gift across the table to her mother. Inko looked at the box with a curious expression that could only be compared to a child on Christmas morning. Unwrapping it, the eldest greenette opened the box and what she saw forced her gasp and fight back tears. "Happy mother's day." Akane said tenderly as Hana smiled warmly. "We love you, mom." Inside the box was a portrait rendition of an old family photo, complete with Hizashi. Tears ran down the eldest greenette's face and she hugged her daughters tightly as both Tanaka sisters hugged their mother back, a photo of their father right by their side.
