LAW Underground

Post your pitch for an event here if you feel confident about your ability to run/drive your event idea yourself. You can engage moderators/staff if you need a dedicated subforum/section for your event to exist in, but outside of that, you will organize and schedule your event, yourself.
You do not need to post here in order to do your event. But posting here serves as a convenient point of reference for you to share your event ideas with others.

LAW Underground

Unread post by ReticentCone »

Been thinking of ways to structure a user tournament/championship that was able to accomplish the three broad aims below:
- Have a mangeable size that can grow & shrink with interest and be open for players of varying activity & veterancy to participate as much they're comfortable with doing so

- Accomodate players looking for more structure/'stats to their matches/plpys than typical by have the kayfabe of LAW being a competitive sport consistently & available to everyone to participate in.

- Allow for the possibility of repeat & multi-champions while still retaining a high turnover rate by directly incentivizing ending reigns earlier & discentivizing them going on for long.
I think with the idea outlined below, would accomplish what I am aiming at. Not every possible thing for this has been outlined below, but the most important things are. Mostly looking to see would be interested in this along with input. The reason why I have it start with the young lionesses is for two basic reasons. Kayfabe would be thatbitstarted up largely by new ambitious wrestlers, OOC its because there really isn't much structured for YL wrestlers as is.

Outline:

1. The theme of the LAW Underground is lower card wrestlers starting an unsanctioned competition within LAW, that makes use of regular matches to hand out accolades. The Kayfabe is that it doesn’t officially exist, though it is an open secret among fans that it does. Wrestlers may talk about going for an 'underground championship', but the idea is that IC how it works is unspoken by the wrestlers themselves.

2. Any wrestler competing in LAW Underground must have no ongoing OR completed title matches. The only exception to this is former, but not current, champions. Inaugural tournaments will pick the first 'Underground champion', the following tournaments will pick number one contenders for 'underground championship' matches. 'Underground champions' can choose to have matches with whoever they want, underwhatever conditions they choose, but they are always required to face number one contenders once their tournaments conclude.

3. Tournament slots are filled in two ways: a First come first serve method that requires a wrestler to have promo, posted for the tournament. The second is through silver & golden tickets. Each tournament has four spots. Silver Tickets allow the holding wrestler to ‘bump’ one of the “first come first serve” wrestlers in a tournament of their choice before it starts. Golden ticket holders can bump silver ticket holders as well.

4. Silver tickets are consumed on use & can be earned by:

- Competing in underground championship matches (win or lose)
- Having the most highly liked match at the end of a tournament.
- Having the most liked promo for a tournament (whether they're bumped)
- ‘Taking out’ another member of the underground,(consensually planned, obviously) either in case a loser leaves the underground match or injuring them, one silver ticket for every month they’re ‘out’ for. (i.e. No match RPs with them.)
- Getting ‘bumped’ from an underground tournament by someone using a ticket.

5. Golden tickets are earned by being a former queen. They last in perpetuity. Tickets don’t have to be used by the wrestler that earns them, they can be transferred, but only used one at a time. This is important, because player created threads & matches over tickets are supposed to be a thing, to get people not in tournaments involved in the 'underground' without a schedule.

6. Tournament outcomes are randomly generated, but the ‘winner’ may choose to lose instead. “Underground championship” matches are determined by player agreement, but matches against number one contenders have a caveat. These matches start a ‘clock’. From the moment a number one contender is selected, every day that a 'chamilnship wrestler retains a ‘Underground championship’ is a day that the wrestler will be OOC barred from participating in future underground tournaments. IC, it should be written off as the conclusion to a ‘loser leaves the underground’ match, or an injury in or outside of a match. For the sake of fairness, subtract any days spent waiting for a response in a thread from a number one contender or waiting on your thread.

7. There’d be four underground championshop to start with:

The Young Lioness Lightweight Underground Chamionship Requirements:
Young Lioness
120 Pounds & lighter

The Young Lioness Middleweight Underground Championship, Requirements:
Young Lioness
121 to 169 Pounds

The Young Lioness Heavyweight Underground Championship, Requirements:
Young Lioness
170 Pounds & Heavier

The Young Lioness Openweight Underground Championship, Requirements:
Young Lioness

8. The idea is for other 'underground championships', with their own tournaments, to be added in overtime, connected by the 'tickets' & the prohibition on the participation of contenders for 'official' championships. However I'd probably need help to run more than this.
