L.A.W World Cup Tournament

As the name suggest I am planning a World Cup Tournament for L.A.W. In it each country will send 1 representative to compete in a tournament to win the World Cup of wrestling! I do hope you are all as excited for this as I am. But for any tournament, it needs people and that is where you enter. If you wish to enter this tournament you will first declare the country you will be representing. Second you will be choosing the character to represent this country. Characters with mixed backgrounds can only compete for one country. As to which that is up to you. Each country only gets 1 wrestler, so to be fair it is first come first served. My hope with all of this is that the brackets will be perfect so 8 or 16 anything less or in between will cause complications. As of now 16 is the maximum but if more than enough people join I can extend the limit.

The structure could be as follows.
1. A round robin group stages. Where wins give you two points, draws 1 point and losses 0 points. The wrestler with the most points moves on to the knockout stages.
2. A normal tournament bracket where one wrestler follows their bracket one by one up until they win it all.

My only apprehension would be that the round robin stages may take too long. But once the participants are selected we will further discuss what everyone would like and put it to a vote.

Finally to be completely fair I don’t want to make this a popularity contest. At the same time I don’t want to have a hand in every match. I want the participants to create their own storylines. So the winner before hand would be picked via random number generator and tied to country not character. This way there aren’t arguments or debates on who should win or who deserves it. So if you are not comfortable with your character losing then I do not know what to say to assuage you. In my opinion everyone participating deserves a trophy but that is not how a tournament works. Finally I’d like to say that any and all countries are welcomed.

Male wrestlers are allowed. Yet knowing that some people would rather not wrestler male wrestlers. Certain care will be put in place so that the people comfortable with mixed wrestling are paired together.
