Competing Legacies

Unread post by Fairy Dragon »

Spoiler
Kyoko's music quickly got the crowd's attention. Since her match with Wyvern she'd been silent and it seemed she was going to break that silence here and now, maybe answer who her next opponent would be. She stepped out with her Belly Queen belt and her Middleweight belt wrapped around her waist, blocking any view of her famous abs while she would step down to the ring, any signs of her war with Wyvern were gone and she looked to be back at 100%, which seemed to show in how she moved. Kyoko moved with a purpose as if showing off that she was ready for a fight and smiled at the usual boos before she entered the ring. She motioned for a mic and after checking if it was working she gestured for silence, getting a bit of boos as she rolled her eyes and started to speak anyway.

"Don't you idiots know by now that booing me doesn't do shit?" Kyoko said, of course to more boos. The Belly Queen wasn't going to get popular with her insults even if she did get everyone's attention. "I know some of you enjoyed the brief period you didn't hear from me after my match with Wyvern. I can't say I'm surprised by the outcome, I picked her because she was tough and like I expected she gave me
a fight worthy of my championship. She was the first to fall but she should take that with pride. Years from now that will be a highlight others would die for, being the first to test the Belly Queen at her peak. It's a testament to that challenge that I decided to take a short break and make sure that I wouldn't be weak and vulnerable for anyone who decided to be my second opponent and try to pick up where she left off. Really I was overdue for a break anyway, I spoiled you losers rotten with classic after classic that it was time I gave myself some time off.
" Kyoko said praising herself. She turned to the entrance ramp and pointed at it. "But even during that break my mind was focused on picking my next challenger. Some time ago you remembered these 4 losers all came out together and tried to push themselves as the pillars of the Middleweights and I got a good laugh at watching them squabble for second and third place. Now it's time to remind one of them that I'm first and show them why. I could've picked any one of them so I decided to set my focus on the only one who's never won a title or even had a title shot in this company but still likes running their mouths. So without further ado, welcome my second handpicked opponent, Alizeh Midori!" Kyoko shouted, this time getting cheers as the popular Alizeh had been a name tossed around a hundred times when it came to names people wanted to win the Middleweight championship. She was also a name who came up regarding dream matches about Kyoko herself, with the two having many similarities that came up when the other was mentioned. Now Kyoko had given them that match without having to wait any longer to see it happen, creating anticipation for the Emerald Storm's arrival.

Alizeh was backstage, dressed in her ring gear as a reserve fighter for tonight. Basically just on standby in case anyone was injured or otherwise ended up indisposed for a match so that the company wasn't totally screwed. Naturally this meant that unless something happened she was in for a boring night mostly watching the show unfold, but her interest was naturally piqued when she saw the current middleweight champion make her way down the ramp. Ever since Apex had began it was no secret to anyone that Alizeh wanted gold, a dream shared by many wrestlers, but Alizeh was much more vehement and aggressive in showing why she should be considered than some.

Frowning slightly as Kyoko disparaged the fans Alizeh would listen with a keen ear, unconsciously getting up from her seat while crossing her arms as the frown turned into a full on glare as she listened to Kyoko's speech, her words about Wyvern only adding to her ire. Finally though Kyoko would get to the nitty gritty of what she was here to talk about that being her next challenger.. Which apparently was her. Despite the opportunity now at hand Alizeh couldn't help but growl softly at just how Kyoko described her. No previous title, nor a title shot. Even with the promise of one it felt all too much like a backhanded compliment and Alizeh was not going to stand for it.
Spoiler
Music starting to play throughout the arena's speakers it would only take Alizeh a few minutes to walk from the area she was in to the entrance ramp, the various LAW backstage workers giving her a wide path until Alizeh finally came out. Pausing at the top of the ramp and looking out over the crowd Alizeh would waste no time as she began marching down the ramp, a dead serious expression present on her face as she approached the ring, gazed fixated on her fellow Legacy wrestler, the similarities between them only becoming more apparent the closer they approached. Their heights, their builds, their shared familial history... It was almost as if a clash of titans.

Entering the ring proper after getting a microphone from one of the workers ringside Alizeh would stand right across from Kyoko, not speaking yet... Just taking it in while the fans got their excitement out of their systems. Raising the mic to her lips Alizeh would focus a steely look on Kyoko. "Gee, thanks so much for the opportunity champ I never would have gotten one without you. You're just the best."" Alizeh said with a faux smile, the words on paper probably being confusing if you couldn't hear the absolute massive levels of sarcasm dripping from the green haired girl's voice while looking at Kyoko pointedly, the fans letting out a little along with some cheers.

Letting the words sink in Alizeh would then drop the smile and focus on Kyoko fully. "Thats what you wanted to hear right? That enough for your ego? Hope so cause just saying that much almost made me puke." Alizeh said as some more cheers came down from the crowd before Alizeh spoke again. "Anyways.. I accept your challenge. Might as well shatter that fragile ego of yours now than later when its too big. Don't want you having a mental breakdown once I take that title from you after all." Alizeh said with a shrug before standing back and waiting to see how the Akan would react.

Alizeh's music hit after a moment and the Emerald Storm came down already dressed for a match. Kyoko watched her come down and could already tell she was in a bad mood, not giving the kind of pleasantries she was known for giving fans and respect she tended to give opponents she deemed worth the effort. Kyoko let Alizeh come down and thank her in the most sarcastic way possible while staring at her with a dead serious expression. The moment wasn't lost on her and she was taking this time to tell Kyoko she didn't appreciate the idea that Kyoko was propping her up as if this match was a favor, implying that Alizeh wouldn't get this moment unless Kyoko gave it to her.

"What I wanted to hear was a yes or a no. You should already be thanking me for being a prime example of a champion who backs down from nothing, which sounds simple but is something we've been lacking in this business since I got here." Kyoko said stepping closer to Alizeh before she continued. "I'm not doing you a favor, I'm just making a match that any sane company would want to see. You won't be thanking me much after I beat you and show you why you didn't win anything at Apex." Kyoko said, trying to rile Alizeh up as well and see how the Emerald Storm reacted to her prodding.

Alizeh wasn't one to be taken lightly, and she was quick to prove that to anyone, especially those that that thought themselves above her. As was the case she felt she was in right now answering Kyoko's challenge. Standing across from the woman Alizeh couldn't help but acknowledge the fan theories and commentary of how similar they were. In body and personality, family.. Hell by her mom's own account had things gone different with her and Kyoko's mother gone different she and the current middleweight champ could have grown up together.

Yet none of that distracted her. They were mere fleeting thoughts, and if anything.. they just filled her with disappointment at the type of person Kyoko was turning out to be now that she finally had the acknowledgement she always wanted. "You know... I almost don't disagree with you. I can respect being a fighting champ that seeks out challenges rather than dodging them and depending on the company to line up matches, so credit there where its due." Alizeh admitted, genuinely having no issue with Kyoko's words there... But she also wasn't done either.

"What I'm taking issue with here though..." Alizeh said, looking Kyoko full on before speaking again. "Is you trying to downplay this match. Trying to downplay me. You're treating this like it's just some regular, sensible, forgone conclusion, and ya know what? Yeah. Us in match is a license to print money.. Yet that's not the attitude I get from ya." Alizeh said, looking Kyoko dead in the eye still as she took a step further towards the champ.

"You're little intro of me, saying you'll prove why I didn't win anything from Apex, you're acting like I don't measure up, like I haven't beaten legends, past AND current champions in the past year alone in my three year stretch here." Alizeh said, letting that last statement hang in the air for a moment before she continued. "I'll tell you right the hell now... You may be a fighting champ and all... But you better take me and this match seriously, otherwise not only will I take that title of yours... but I'll also show you, and the suits who run this place just why I should have won at apex." Alizeh said with a fierce glare towards Kyoko, right up in the woman's face and without any sign of backing down as the crowd waited with baited breath for what would happen next.

Alizeh didn't like any signs of disrespect she was getting from the Belly Queen, she wanted a fight among equals and Kyoko simply didn't see her or anyone like that with how far her ego has taken her. Kyoko listened to her complaints and even the slight bits of praise from the daughter of the Queen of the Sky, someone Kyoko knew her family was very familiar with, which made the lack of interaction between the two of them until now a what if for many fans and wrestlers. Kyoko didn't think anything would change if they had known each other more back then, because her issues with this match were things that she felt Alizeh would still have and after Alizeh gave her a warning the Belly Queen laid them out.

"I think that because I'm certain I'm going to win. I picked you because I know you'll be a challenge but I still remain confident I'm going to win. The list of times I've lost is few and the ones who have beaten me have something that even after 3 long years here you prove you don't have yet." Kyoko said alluding to some missing piece in Alizeh's skillset that's holding her back. She wouldn't keep her guessing about what it was. "The reason I'll win and the reason you still don't have anything to show for all of your efforts is that you lack the aggression necessary to take what you want. You get angry sure, like you are right now glaring at me as if you're prepared to crush me, but when it comes down to a match you falter with that aggression, it falls apart. Like at Apex, when you fought Mindy all of your aggression just turned into blind anger you didn't know how to focus, and because of that Mindy pummeled you, and if she didn't take time to taunt you with that kiss maybe she'd have won. You have the skills to beat people when they make mistakes, but at the championship level you're still unprepared to overcome the odds that I bring. Compare your performance to my match with Emaline. Every time she tried some cheap trick I made her pay for it and I crushed her, everyone can see that when I have a chance I take it and I crush anyone who can stop me. That's what makes me a winner, and when we meet I'll show you exactly what you mean when you aren't able to keep up with me." Kyoko said

Standing here, against Kyoko, with a title on the line between them... Alizeh had to admit that to a part of her it felt right. Like it was meant to be. Which in part is why she was so upset at the apparent disrespect she was getting from Kyoko, at how unseriously the woman was taking her at the moment and it was really honestly nagging at her, and she would have her answer as to why as Kyoko spoke, the sheer arrogance with which she did so not surprising Alizeh, but the last bit about Alizeh having a missing piece to her did. "Oh yeah? What would that be?" Alizeh asked, partly in genuine curiosity, but a much larger part sarcastic sass directed at Kyoko.

Either way Alizeh would allow Kyoko the chance to answer and the answer was one Alizeh definitely wasn't prepared for, nor liked very much. Picking apart her performance at Apex, citing it as a reason she couldn't capitalize on her aggression, and saying why it would be why she couldn't beat Kyoko, it only made Alizeh's glare narrow. "Aggression huh? Interesting idea. But I think you're confusing using aggression for relentlessly beating on someone. Thats not competition, its assault. Its not something I've been about, and its not something I will be about." Alizeh said proudly before leaning a bit closer to Kyoko and speaking a touch softer, but with no less intensity. "Thats the real difference between us.. You have to sink to that level to defeat people.. I don't. When we fight... I'll prove it by kicking your ass bitch." Alizeh said before throwing down the mic and just outright getting in Kyoko's face!

Kyoko's words stung like she knew they would. People didn't like advice from her and she was used to getting biting remarks from people. The thing was they usually ended up taking her advice later, even if they didn't admit it and Kyoko knew that this would be the case here too. Alizeh remained confident she would take her title from her and prove her wrong, Kyoko was determined to make sure that didn't happen. "You'd describe the way I fight as relentlessly beating on someone? I'm not a blunt instrument Alizeh, I make everything work and when I find my opening I strike and make sure my opponent suffers for giving me that opening." Kyoko said, with no distance between the two of them anymore and nothing but words and stares for each other.

"You insult me by thinking that my accomplishments come from sinking myself to some level beneath you, I thought you were different but maybe you're like every glad handing loser who tries to feel superior by bringing me down. You insult me, and you insult every single person who I've beaten and all of my accomplishments because you can't handle a few words from my lips. I won't let that stand, you won't beat me and when I'm done with you you'll have no one to blame but yourself for the ass kicking that's coming Alizeh." Kyoko said back, now angry and ready to fight.

Suffice to say that all pleasantries had been dropped and any form of decorum or politeness was gone. All that was left was clear animosity between champion and challenger alike. Each woman being rooted in their beliefs and not willing to back down even a fraction of an inch, even being insulted at the very idea of doing so, and what had started as a war of words was quickly devolving into a screaming match.

Nose to nose with the champion Alizeh was as quick to give Kyoko a piece of her mind as Kyoko was hers. "Kyoko you're as refined and accurate as a missile! You beat down endlessly and only take a break to showboat!" Alizeh shouted back which definitely added some fuel to the fire since now Kyoko was feeling personally insulted, not that Alizeh cared.

"You kidding?! I looked up to you! You were part of why I came here! But as time went on you've just sunk lower and lower! You're a shadow of yourself! And the only one insulting your former opponents is you!!! Just like you're insulting that championship! So bring it on jackass!" Alizeh shouted right back to Kyoko before giving the woman a solid shove on the shoulders.

Kyoko wasn't sure if that was meant to be an insult or a compliment, she only assumed it was an insult based on everything else Alizeh was saying. "I have the force of a missile too, ask anyone I've beaten which is about to include you." Kyoko said as she took more insults about how low she sunk, despite her looking and fighting stronger than ever. To these people it was a crime to be as good as she was and now they were acting as if her skills had come from a place they were above. It angered her and Alizeh made it worse when she pushed her, breaking the last bit of contact they didn't make yet. Kyoko stumbled back from being shoved and then quickly ran right at Alizeh once again.

"A shadow that's stronger? The only one who's a shadow of their former self is you, you came here eager to learn and had a wise mouth but for the past few months all you've acted like is angry little bitch!" Kyoko said pushing Alizeh back as hard as she could, ready to do more when security started to show up, clearly anticipating the upcoming fight and trying to stop it before someone got hurt. Kyoko was grabbed by a few guards and pushed back as she attempted to plow through them and get to her green-haired future opponent.

As if feeding on the chaotic energy stemming from the ring the crowd was in a absolute uproar, dueling chants, cheers and boos, everything you can think of a crowd doing or saying was happening as things in the ring broke down further and further. Especially after Alizeh shoved Kyoko, that seemed to be the last straw as Kyoko came right back, screaming at Alizeh and shoving her again, making her stumble before glaring at the Belly Queen.

"Thas all you've been for the last few years!" Alizeh yelled right back and would have lunged for Kyoko if the ring wasn't sieged by security, grabbing both her and Kyoko to stop a brawl! "Grrr let go!" Alizeh growled out, trying to shake a few off while reaching out towards Kyoko, throwing wild swipes aimed for the woman's face, trying literally anything she could to get her hands on her!
