A Tale of Two Mikas

Post by godjacob »

Mika Yuriko was a naturally excited girl when it came to new things, and to saw L.A.W. was a new experience would have sold that drastically short. However, with excitement came worry; this was the pros and she wanted to make a good first impression. She wanted to be a star and prove she can hold her weight here, not become or be seen as a pushover but given the talent here it would not be easy.

So Mika, even with her eagerness and passion, needed to prepare for what to expect. And the best way to do that was a good workout, so she changed into her white-colored wrestling attire and headed to the mostly vacant gym. The place seemed state of the art, and had everything she felt was needed to really push herself that extra mile as she began to stretch just outside an empty ring as she aimed to get her muscles ready for the workout that was to come.

"This is gonna be great! I can already tell that much, I can't wait to show these girls and guys here what I am made of." Mika said to herself, before her tone shifted slightly and she changed from a friendly smile to a cocky smirk.

"Yeah, L.A.W. has no idea what is in store for them." Mika or in her persona "Trinity" said to herself before she shifted back to her friendly appearance as she stretched her legs out humming to herself.

Mika sighs softly to herself. This place.. it was taking some getting used to. She's already had a couple of matches, both with girls that were.. okay in their own way. The atmosphere here, the layout, the people, it was definitely different than her old boxing league. Still, she felt like slowly she was starting to get used to it. She was starting to pick up a wrestling move or two that she felt she could blend into her boxing style, and make it that much more effective.

Still, it was important not to let the sharp skills she already knew dull and fall off at the wayside. It was also a great way for her to think on things as well. Already dressed in her blue swimsuit attire and her pink gloves, she entered the gym, planning on getting a nice work out on a heavy bag. When she entered, she saw there was barely anyone there. It was how she preferred it, honestly.

She makes her way for a heavy bag that she thought was open. She didn't really give anything else too much mind, as she was just wanting to focus on her morning warm ups. She raises her gloves up, and starts to pound away at the heavy bag with rhythmic, speedy blows to the weighted sack of leather, jostling it left and right and back and forth.

As Mika stretched out, she noticed someone else walk into the gym. Normally any random person walking in wouldn't have taken much notice from her, and for half a second it seemed to be the case here as she at first went back to her workout to ignore her. However, upon a second glance there was just something....something that caught her eye.

Mika couldn't explain it, neither her personas Platinum or Trinity for that matter, but just watching the girl walk in and go to town on the punching bag drew in her interest. This girl seemed to have some natural form, a striker if she had to guess but there was a sense of familiarity about her even if the girl had not been a hardened L.A.W. veteran by any means. Still she squinted as she tried to recall where she had seen her before the preverbal lightbulb went off.

"Hey is that that girl....Mika...I think, Mika Matsuda...?"
"You mean that girl who stole our thunder? The only Mika with her name called here should be you."
"Um, Mika is just a name. Probably a bunch of girls named Mika here can't hold that against her."
"Maybe, but we are the best Mika so any other Mika should watch it!"
"L-let's try to make a good first impression rather than come off as cocky and alienate the locker room please? Actually..."

Mika finished her self conversation of whispers with "Trinity" before she was inspired with an idea. Given she was new and green in every sense of the word she figured getting a chance to chat with someone who had some experience with a couple matches or so under her belt that maybe she could get some insight and if she was lucky maybe make someone she can call a friend here. Being alone was a bit scary for her, so any chance she had to try and make a friend she'd take it as she made up her mind before she gingerly walked over to Mika M. as she kept her distance to not disturb her routine.

"Um....h-hello there?"

Mika was focused on her training regimen, jostling the heavy bag left and right with jabs, crosses, and hooks. She heard buzzing behind her. It sounded like someone talking to someone... who had a very similar voice. She didn't really pay her attention. She was likely speaking with a friend. She had her world, and Mika had hers.

'h-hello there?'

Mika hears a voice behind her, louder this time. She turns her head, to see a girl with long blonde hair, and a white singlet. She blinks at her, looking her over. "Um... can I help you?" She asked, a bit of confusion in her voice. Did she know this girl? Did she want to use the bag for a bit? She didn't... LOOK familiar at all, but...

Immediately Mika had a mild blush as the girl of her namesake turned to greet her; Mika had been mostly sheltered and lacked opportunity for much socialization beyond her own head so now this face to face meeting caused her to become somewhat flustered, but she worked to die it down as she greeted Mika M. with a curious gaze.

"H-hi, I um...I was just wondering. You wouldn't happen to be um that girl Mika would you? M-Mika Matsuda?"

Mika asked her question, with only a slight hesitation as she desired some confirmation. Better to make sure she had the right girl rather than the risk of having assumed she was that Mika speaking to a relative stranger to herself.

Mika's eyes widen with shock as this girl got her first, and last name right. Was she a fan?

"Er... yes. Yes I am. I'm sorry, but... do I know you?" She asked curiously. This girl seemed to know a lot about her at least. Had they met before? Mika honestly couldn't recall.

"N-no actually. Um it's a bit awkward, I-I just saw a couple of matches of you on TV. F-funny thing is my name is Mika as well and well I figure I'd want to chat with a fellow Mika..." Mika said a bit sheepishly, though she was quick to add on as this meeting felt more shallow than intended if she had left it at that.

"R-really, beyond just that I...I am new here and was hoping I could get a word in with somebody with some experience around here. Get a sense of the L.A.W. atmosphere you know?"

Mika was a little surprised when she told her her name, but she's quick to smile about it.

"Oh wow! That's cool! But uh... I think I'm about as new as you are really. I've only had one match here so far and I've been here... MAYBE for a few days at most. I kinda lose track of time while I'm here really. But it's nice to meet you.. uh.. Mika." She says, offering a gloved hand to shake. She couldn't help but giggle a little when she has to address her by her own name.

"Yeah, nice to meet you too um, Mika..." Mika said, as she found the same humor in meeting someone who shared her name as she extended her hand and gave a friendly hand shake to the girl.

She felt the urge of a certain, other voice who wanted to speak up but Mika managed to fight that urge for the moment.

"W-well, still one more than me. And just cool to meet somebody who has had a taste of L.A.W. action. No idea what to expect for myself." Mika admitted to the other Mika.

Mika responds with a nervous chuckle when she talks about how she's not her what to expect for herself. She rubs the back of her head with a sheepish smile on her face.

"I still don't, really! Eheh... Um... but... well... considering this is a wrestling ring, I may not be the best opponent.. but uh... if you want... we could have a light match in the ring there. I'll keep my punches light, and you can try to apply whatever you think will work on me. What do you think? Maybe that will help you get rid of some of your first fight nervousness?" She proposed.
