Friends Share! - Navi vs. Domino

Some time ago, Drake did an impromptu wrestling match with a certain greenette. It was held right here, to an audience of no one, and was a pretty good workout. Since then, they've remained in contact. He still supports her in her LAW endeavors, just as he did before they met. He may have even spectated once in a while from the stands. But tonight? Tonight, he expects things to be a lot quieter.

Drake has taken to training late in the evening. There are fewer people around - if any at all - and basically no chance of running into distractions from his federation. He can work out in peace, and get the most out of it. Sparring is an issue, but he makes do; he doesn't hold back in the ring. But that's no different from the norm. He still has something to prove, and he's still been given few opportunities to do so. Life in Japan is mostly a testament to frustration.

The gaijin is presently enjoying what seems to be a completely solitary workout. Wearing a pair of black cross-trainers and matching shorts with silver piping, his sleekly-toned upper-body goes bereft of clothing. At the moment, he's seated on a bench near the vacant ring centerpiece, curling with free-weights.

One quiet evening in Tokyo, Melody and Navi were walking down the street into a gym Melody visited a few weeks back. Although they were going in there primarily for training, Navi was walking there for a chance encounter with someone:

"We keep going to this gym for the last couple of weeks, I am telling you, there isn't much chance we will meet him there. I can give you his number if you need to, hell, I can call him myself to set something up!", Melody would say to her blonde friend.

"Not my style, Green.", Navi would answer, as both of them entered the gym.

After Melody told Navi that she met a guy in this very gym and sparred with him, sadly coming out on the losing end. Immidiately upon hearing that, Navi wanted to challange Domino to a fight herself to avenge her friend's loss. Despite Melody's multiple attempts to give Navi his number, the blonde refused, wanting to fight him with the guy getting as little prep time as possible.

Right after both of them changed into their gym attires (a green sports bra and trunks for Melody and a similar yellow attire for Navi respectively), and walked into the gym. Melody expected to simply have a solid, evening workout, before having some dinner and going to sleep. Navi, however, was scouting the gym for her target...

Until she saw a black-haired, well built guy sitting on a nearby bench:

"There he is!!!", Navi shouted, rushing towards Domino (whom Navi herself had seen from his matches from the internet), as Melody followed her:

"You are the guy who beat my friend in a fight, correct?!", she rudely asked Domino as the guy continued to work-out with freeweights in his hand.

As Melody approached Navi, she realized that Navi, was indeed correct. The man before her was Drake "Domino" Vyril.

"Hi, Drake! How are you doing?"

The first cry of 'there he is!' is enough to get Drake to lower the weight and look in their direction. What he sees gets a curious head-tilt, followed by a startled recoil when he's rushed. "Whoa, hey, hi!" Eyes shift from Navi to Melody, then back again. "That's a way of putting it, sure. We sparred, things got rough, she tapped...," he trails.

"Doing alright," Drake picks up again, now directed to Melody. "Just getting my pump on."

He's pretty sure he knows who this blonde girl is; pretty, somewhat rowdy, good track record? Sure, he's fairly certain. He doesn't want to presume, though. Melody manages to be more distinct in his mind (blame the green hair), so he was reasonably positive who she was when they first met. So he tilts his head towards Navi, directing, "Is this...?," towards Melody for clarification on who this person is.

Who she is is actually a little less eyebrow-raising than what she may want from him. The phrasing of that first question is enough to put him a bit on guard. Is she offended that he came out on top?

Navi listened intently as she kept her glare at Drake before the guy shifted the subject and greeted Melody.

However, once Domino (what she assumed) asked who she was, her glare got so intense, another guy might've thought she was trying to burn a hole through his head.

"Yeah, this is..."

"Wait. It's good that knew who Melody was when you first met her, but you seriously don't know me? You watch LAW, you should follow the establishing title scene...and you dont know who I am?!", Navi asked, as Melody kept looking at her friend, dumbfounded at her words, not knowing why she was that angry at Drake...

Navi's reason on her mind? Originally, it was because she wouldn't let Melody be beaten by a random nobody, so she wanted to challenge Drake to a fight herself to see how good he really was...but now, slightly offended by his question, this was personal:

"That's it. You and me, in that ring, right now", Navi would say, immediately climbing in the ring Domino had his back to, as her Greenette friend continued looking at her, as if a sibling looking at her younger sibling who was doing something dumb.

"And did you even assume that he might not have the time for your childish antics?!", Melody asked irritatingly at Navi, before looking at Drake with an apologetic look: "Sorry about that. For better or worse, this is Navi, my BFF, and who I assume,
and whom I would like to ACT like, the Middleweight Champion of LAW", Melody would explain to Drake: "Soooo...yeah, once I told her aboit you, she wanted to fight you, so we visited this gym at least once a day everyday to find you here, so that she could challenge you to a fight. If you dont have the time, It's perfectly OK, we can arrange something later..."

Drake is nearly toppled by the sudden wave of force emanating from the blonde's ego!

...Alright, maybe not. But the sudden outrage is still enough to get a stare from him. "Well." He turns those purple eyes back to the poor, exasperated Melody. "That went good, yeah?" A wry smile, despite it all, touches his lips. "I think she likes me."

He sets the weight aside and gets to his feet. Poor Navi will have to wait a second before he joins her, if he actually intends on it; Melody is first in line for his attention."That's some severe determination to fight some guy I guarantee she doesn't know zilch about. I'm guessing this is a sort of.. 'vengeance' deal?"

Melody chuckled at Drake's comment. Although it was likely that Navi was into guys like Domino (wrestler, well-build but not a giant ball of muscles, with Melody predicting from Drake' s reaction that the guy could likely put up with the blonde's attitude as well as, and maybe better than, she could), from her tone, it was unlikely that Navi was really into Drake in that way...at least right now.

"Well, she saw like one match online, but I doubt she took notes to properly prepare to fight you. And Yeah, determination is Navi's second name.", the greenette explained to her friend: "Maybe there is a bit of that, but she has been training non-stop for the middleweight tourney, and she really looks for soars whenever she can in the gyms. Maybe she just saw a perfect opprotunity to improve by fighting you..."

"So, are you going to take her up on that challange? I can be a ref between you 2 if you need...

Drake wasn't being completely serious. A little self-deprecating humor never hurt anyone. But he chuckles with Melody's explanation.

"I'm sure you had just the nicest things to say about me," he considers playfully. "But lemme have a word with her and see what's up. I'll keep my guard up, don't worry." He raises his forearms in front of his face, the mirth continuing. But the arms lower before he makes his way to the ring, hops onto the apron, and leans over the top rope.

"Hey! Listen!"

He blinks.

"Hah! That wasn't on purpose, but whatever!" He flashes the blonde a boyish grin, then continues, "Is it training you're looking for? Or did I kick your cat somewhere, sometime?" He's pretty sure Melody told him the truth; it isn't really about that. It's about playfully pushing Navi's buttons. If she's going to interrupt his night, he's going to have a little fun with her.

Melody knew Navi won't go so far as to blindside Drake in this spar match, so she knew he didn't have to maintain his guard up as he climbed into the ring...

...and then he just had to say those words.

Melody went wide eyed as she climbed into the ring, as Navi let out a very audible growl in response. This is something Melody shouldve warned Drake about. References to LoZ's Navi might be playful jab in Domino' s book...but for Navi, it was a giant, glowing red berserk button reading "DO NOT PUSH".

Navi chuckled after she listened to Drake, before giving a harsh response: "Mate,
by the time I am done with you, you are going to WISH you simply kicked my cat"

"Single pin, tap out or KO. Now hurry it up...", Navi finished as she angrily looked first at Domino...then at Melody, expecting her friend to officiate this...Navi didnt want to call it a spar, this unofficial match between Domino and Navi...

The very audible, unlady-like growl gets a perplexed, surprised look from Drake. Good lord, what's with this chick? He doesn't have to satisfy whatever craving she has; he's his own person, this isn't a federation match, and he has nothing to gain here. In this regard, he's doing her a huge favor by helping her train. Her attitude went from entertainingly misguided to 'is this chick right in the head?'

"Alright, we'll have a spar. And after, we'll treat you to a nice, tasty Valium."

Of course, if she lets some obscene levels of outrage take over, that could be a very useful teaching tool. Enraged fighters tend to make mistakes; lots and lots of mistakes. And if she's going for a title, she's going to need to be made aware of that. Look at him, already thinking about doing her another favor. His gaze shifts to Melody, then back to Navi before slipping between the ropes.

"You're nowhere near British enough to call me mate," he states, pursing his lips at her teasingly. Yes, he's trying to poke the bear a little more. If she's a rage-a-holic, he's decided to help her try to refine herself past it. So while his demeanor may seem lackadaisical, he's on the defensive and ready for her to rush him.

Melody was glad that Drake accepted the spar. He likely joked about Vallum, but the fight itself would likely calm Navi down, after she either won or lost, however...

"Living in England for 14 years isn't "British" enough for him?!", Navi wanted to shout to Drake, but kept it in, the thought only coming out as another growl...

With Melody seeing the two fighters were prepared (and in case of Navi, prepared to the point of exploding if the match didnt start now), the greenette would finally give the signal for the spar to:

"BEGIN!"

Right of the bat, the angry blonde rushed at Domino, aiming her shoulder at her defending opponent for am early spear!!!
