Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
Oscar hummed to himself as the woman filled him in on the reason for the headphones. The young man was quiet for a moment before tilting his head to the side curiously.
"Hm... I see. I'm feeling like there's a personal reason behind that so I won't ask why you want to block out the public. However, I feel like wearing those are just going to cause more harm than good. How many matches have you fought before coming to LAW?"

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
Garlim honestly did not remember how many battles she had fought to date, they could easily exceed the figure of fifty or even more. Since she was 16 years old, she was constantly involved in mixed martial arts competitions, even when she was younger she was constantly involved in fights, whether with her older classmates from the orphanage or the constant challenges of the MMA fighters who challenged her in the gym before she wanted to choose to compete professionally.
"Hm... It depends on what kind of fights you're referring to, but if it's exclusively professional wrestling, today's was the first one. As I mentioned, I didn't really bother to practice it."
She responded without going into too many details, she didn't want to touch on certain topics because she might only get upset by doing so. It was something complicated.

"Well- no offense when I say this, but that explains quite a bit, actually"
Oscar stood back on his feet, offering a friendly handshake to the woman.
"I never introduced myself. My name's Oscar; and if you're interested, I'd be happy to teach you about the rules of wrestling. If you want to put on a good show for the crowd, I think you're gonna need to know how they work, yeah?

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
At the boy's introduction, Garlim could not refuse to give him the pleasure of reciprocating her greeting, trying to be as optimistic as possible while telling him her name.
Garlim was a bit surprised that Oscar wanted to help her in this situation, even though she didn't want to know anything about professional wrestling today. His coach always used to tell her the following ("Damn it Garlim, discipline isn't achieved by doing the things you love, it's about working your soul off doing the things you hate to do what you love!") So as she thought about it a bit, she saw that this was not an opportunity she should waste.
"Well, I'm not going to lie. I'd really love to have some help in understanding this whole... Spectacle. Spectacle" That last word sounded a bit dismissive. But at least she was making an effort to accept it.

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
"Well... alright then! I can work with that. There's a free ring over there what we can use. We can smooth the finer details out when we're over there"
Oscar would pick his bag back up and head over to a nearby vacant wrestling ring that was set up inside of the gym. While doing this, Oscar looked to walk and talk with the mystery woman to try and get more information out of her.
"For starters, can you tell me what you currently know about wrestling? Y'know- rules, what it's about, all that stuff. The last thing I want to do is treat someone like they know diddly squat about the sport so if you can break down your current knowledge, that'd be swell"

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
Garlim really was a master... But calling wrestling a sport was not on her list, for Garlim this was nothing more than a simple circus show with people dressing up in extravagant outfits, pirouetting back and forth with ridiculous moves to try to show off while beating themselves up... Yes, she didn't have a good image of wrestling at all, let alone knowledge of its formula, yet she couldn't tell Oscar this. Since with the altercation she had with Reina Izara, she knew perfectly well that she couldn't say what she thought about this "Sport" of which Oscar was a part of.
"Um... I just know that it's basically a show where you have the freedom to fight pretty much however you want, whether it's trying to kick your opponent crazy or making a fool of yourself.... Oh, and that the fight ends with something called a pin which is when the opponent is completely dazed on the canvas and you just climb on top of him to start a 3 count, right?"
It was the only thing he knew off the top of his head, although in mixed martial arts there is usually no such thing as this kind of pin, Garlim if he saw her opponent on the canvas made sure to keep hitting him so that he would lay down.

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
Oscar pursed his lips as he heard the woman's... interesting view on wrestling and how she thought it worked. Making a fool of yourself? Oscar had no clue where this lady got an idea like that- but he felt it'd be wise to not bring that up.
"Hoo boy... yeah, it sounds like we've got a loooot of work to do.one second, please?"
Oscar went and rolled out of the ring to grab a training dummy, soon bringing it back into the ring while continuing to talk.
"So... respectfully... there wasn't much you got right there. We put on shows, yes, but they're still fights like any other. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by making a fool of yourself either but I'll just leave that be. Wrestling doesn't just have plenty of rules, it has rules that vary based on the stipulations of the match. For now- we're going to start with the rules for standard matches"
Oscar would show the woman the dummy before letting it flop onto the canvas.
"First- victory conditions. Pinning an opponent is only one way to win a match- and probably the most common. It's more than climbing onto your opponent- it requires you to have your opponents shoulders on the canvas for a count of three. Go ahead and pin the dummy, ma'am. Give it a go"
Oscar took a step back to allow the woman to take what she knows and put it into practice.

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
Garlim began to feel a little embarrassed at the ignorance she displayed about her knowledge of this discipline, however that was really all she knew for sure. Oscar would go for a practice dummy to start with, the war goddess would only notice the expression of uncertainty on his face as he transported the dummy to the ring.
"As I recall, the rules of engagement I had were standard..."
"First- victory conditions. Pinning an opponent is only one way to win a match- and probably the most common. It's more than climbing onto your opponent- it requires you to have your opponents shoulders on the canvas for a count of three."
Garlim immediately grasped Oscar's explanation, so he quickly knelt down on the side of the practice dummy ("According to what I've seen above, some pins require you to lift your leg") Garlim rested one of his arms on the dummy's shoulders, his elbow on one shoulder and the palm of his hand on the other, while he applied some pressure on them. He quickly grabbed one of the dummy's legs below his knees and lifted it up.
"Um... Count?" she said to herself wondering if she had done it right. Technically she has the dummy's shoulders resting on the canvas.

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
Oscar watched as the young woman picked up basic pins right away- causing him to beam with joy as she seemed to understand quickly. When she mentioned a count, Oscar would lie down on the canvas and start slapping his hand onto it for the count.
"One... two... three! Bam! Just like that. Another fact about pins- you don't necessarily have to climb onto an opponent to pin them. As long as those shoulders touch the canvas, a count will be applied. That means you can perform a grapple or transition a move so that you can go for a pin count"

Re: Showing a goddess of war the ropes
Garlim found it interesting that the count could be applied in so many different ways, usually she was just used to leave her opponent stunned on the ground. But she didn't know if this could be beneficial, since just leaving her opponent stunned would give a lot of free reign for him to simply lift his shoulders.
"By chance also in wrestling, you can do a knockout victory. So, instead of pinning him, I would make sure to finish him off with punches, is that illegal?" Garlim asked while hitting the dummy's face with some curiosity, although this form of pin was striking, she preferred to leave her opponents completely inherent on the mat.
