A Spark Before the Bell

Christina Perez

Christina stood backstage, stretching her arms across her chest as she prepared to give out an open challenge promo. The sound of the crowd beyond the curtain was a steady roar—one she’d grown used to, yet it still sent a rush of energy through her veins every time. She adjusted the straps of her gear, the same colors that mirrored the Philippine flag, before tightening her wristband and armsleeve and exhaling sharply through her nose.

Tonight was about making a statement. Christina takes pride in being known as The Fighting Filipona and she wants L.A.W. to know why she is called that as she is willing to Fight anybody at anytime! After her recent win, she wanted to test herself against anyone brave enough to step up—rookie, veteran, or champion. Her focus was sharp, her mind calm.

But just as she started her breathing exercises, she heard footsteps approaching...

Christina turned, her brown eyes landing on a woman with striking green hair. The newcomer’s presence was radiant, confident yet relaxed, and there was a mischievous glint in her blue eyes that made Christina instinctively tilt her head.

Christina crossed her arms, smirking faintly.

“You lookin’ for someone, or just checking the competition?”

she asked, her tone cool but not unfriendly.

There was something about the girl—her aura, her confidence—that told Christina this wasn’t just another passerby. Whoever she was, she looked like someone who belonged here.

Christina straightened her posture, her expression softening into something halfway between challenge and curiosity.

“If you’re thinking about answering that open challenge tonight,”

she said, nodding toward the curtain,

“you better be ready to work for it.”

She took a step closer, meeting the woman’s gaze evenly.

“Name’s Christina Perez,”

she introduced herself, extending a hand.

“And you are…?”

Alizeh smiled softly as she stepped lively through the halls of LAW's backstage area. A buzz was definitely in the air tonight, one that was seemingly affecting talent, staff and especially the fans as the moment of the hour drew near. Supposedly Christina Perez, the Fighting Filipina as she was called was intent on putting out an open challenge for tonight, intent on taking up a challenge against anyone that dared to step up towards her. A sentiment Alizeh could share as she was no stranger to putting out her own open challenges nor answering them. It was why she was here in fact.

But imagine her surprise when the green haired wrestler turned a corner to enter the locker room, only to come face to face with the woman putting out said open challenge. Christina Perez. 'Well that was unexpected.' Alizeh thought to herself before smiling slightly, a mischevious glint entering her eyes as she drank in Christina's form and surveyed her up close and personal for the first time ever. Surprising since the two started off in LAW around the same time, had similar rises in a sense and they were often compared online and by analysts yet the two had never so much as met face to face.

In person it was clear that the two had relatively similar builds, nearly the exact same heights, close muscle builds and only a two year age gap between them, with their styles being relatively similar as well. Or so analysts thought. However the differences between them were staggering as well, with Christina's bright, nationalistic gear contrasting greatly against Alizeh's own darker, more individualistic focus on her newest ring attire. It was strange... but Alizeh felt herself drawn in somewhat as she grinned at the brunette.

"Hm more like a happy coincidence really." Alizeh said simply to Christina's first question before grinning a bit wider as Christina indeed confirmed she was doing a open challenge tonight while stepping closer to her. An action Alizeh would meet by taking a few steps herself while rolling her shoulders a bit as the woman asked if she'd be ready for it if she was accepting the challenge and what her name was before extending a hand out towards her, an action that Alizeh would smile at as she extended her own hand out to shake Christina's own.

"The name is Alizeh. Alizeh Midori. As for that open challenge of yours... I'm not thinkingabout accepting it I will be accepting it." Alizeh said as she squeezed and shook Christina's hand before suddenly pulling Christina in towards her. "Belive I'l be ready for everything you throw at me and then some...." Alizeh said before pulling away, still smiling a bit as she dropped Christina's hand.

"But still go ahead and say whatever you'd like too the crowd. Don't let me answering it preemptively cramp your style. I'll just be coming out the moment you're done." Alizeh said in a amicable tone with a underlying level of competition and drive to it, intent on showing Christina exactly how intent Alizeh was on living to her words.

Christina’s grip lingered for a moment after Alizeh pulled away, the firmness of the handshake and that bold tug forward still fresh on her mind. The girl’s confidence wasn’t arrogance—it was something deeper. A challenge wrapped in a grin. Christina’s lips curled faintly, equal parts impressed and intrigued as she watched Alizeh take a step back.

Her brown eyes trailed briefly down and up again, taking in Alizeh’s toned frame and the confident posture she carried. For a moment, Christina could almost hear the future crowd roaring—two women of near equal build and drive, both ready to prove who truly stood on top.

“Alizeh Midori…”

Christina repeated under her breath, almost tasting the name as she nodded slowly.

“You got guts, I’ll give you that.”

As Alizeh turned toward the curtain, Christina tilted her head slightly, still watching her with a mix of respect and competitive fire.

“Alright then,”

she said with a small smirk, her voice calm but sharp.

"Guess I’ll see you out there, Green-y.”

Christina gave one last playful glance before heading out of sight.

Christina then adjusted her gloves, exhaled deeply, and muttered to herself,

“This just got a lot more interesting.”

Then, with one last look toward the stage entrance, she cracked her neck and began her walk toward the curtain—ready to make her open challenge official, and knowing exactly who would be answering it.

Smirking softly at the woman across from her Alizeh could tell that Christina was still sizing her up, probably trying to figure what she was all about. But as the brunette spoke Alizeh could tell that she had made her decision and Alizeh could tell it was a positive one by the way she did so.

"Heh I got more than guts." Alizeh said with a light grin on her face, watching as Christina walked away in order to give her promo prior to the open challenge.

"Yes you will... and you better come up with a better nickname than greeny!" Alizeh called out after Christina, watching the Fighting Filipina walk away with her arms crossed whilst leaning back on the wall to await for the moment to head out.
