How to Throw a Punch - Katherine 'Drifter' Scarlett vs Tia 'Breaker' Langray

Unread post by thesteedman »

Match Type: Standard
Win Conditions: Pinfall, Submission, Knockout, Count-out, DQ

Being a lightweight, it was rare that Kay was able to face off against someone who was smaller than her... Normally she was pitted against wrestlers who were a division far too big for her, and as such she was always an underdog. The prospect of fighting someone in her league and smaller than her would have been an exciting one if her opponent had been anyone else but the Breaker! Suddenly, Drifter felt like she would have preferred to go up against a heavyweight instead!

Drifter was a young woman in her early twenties, still green behind the ears and coming into her career at a very young point, but even she knew of the success of Tia Langray! Before becoming a wrestler, the Breaker was a World Champion Muay Thai Fighter that was never bested! She carried that success into her wrestling career in Mexico and only further established herself as a monster of a fighter! Many thought she had retired, but Tia had returned to the ring, and despite her prime years being behind her, it seemed she had barely missed a step upon her return, picking up where she left off with her amazing career.

Naturally Kay was nervous. Tia had practically invented the punch given her reputation as a striker. Kay did not know how she would even compare. Having already gone through her entrance, Drifter stood in her corner in the ring once the cheering crowds had died down during her entry. She had taken off her coat and shoes and put them out of the way, wearing a white sports bra and dark jeans that cut off just below her knees, with a red and black checked shirt wrapped around her hips.

Her well toned midriff was left on display, showing off Drifter's well defined figure from years of fine tuning and hard exercise. She was a beauty of a woman to behold... though Kay did not flaunt her appearance in such a way. True, she often exposed some of her flesh such as her midriff, but she was a tomboy at heart, wearing more casual clothing as opposed to what many of the LAW wrestlers wore... it had become part of her charm for her growing amount of fans that increased with each of her appearances.

Kay took a deep breath, shadow boxing a little to try and calm her nerves, before listening as The Breaker's theme music began to hit the PA system at high volume. This was a big match for the Drifter... she did not expect to win this one, but so long as she gave a good showing to the legend, she could hold her head up high!

Her music plays as Tia makes her way to the stage, she been busy having as many matches as she could handle much to her enjoyment. After telling her plan to the higher ups about training and helping the younger fighters they agreed and quickly set up a bunch of matches for her against promising wrestlers no matter the weight difference.

But her opponent tonight... This one interests her and Tia has been eager to meet the younger woman who calls herself the Drifter... Someone who is trying to make a name for herself in the company but one who from what Tia has seen so far is committed to learning her craft and wanting to get better, as she has studied the girl style and feels like she can exploit Kay's weakness and skill level.

Sliding into the ring focused doing some light hopping on her feet to get herself loose, her opponent is looking for a good fight so Tia is going to give it to her just hope she could handle the lesson.

"I hope you are ready to learn.."

Drifter couldn't tell if Tia was threatening her or if she genuinely had intent to show her a few tricks... Probably a mix of both was the real intent behind Tia's words. Drifter herself was at a little bit of a loss for words, she wasn't quite sure how to respond and looked a little nervous in the presence of such a well established wrestler. Tia was a Veteran of the business and beyond, a championship fighter with many titles and honours behind her belt. True, perhaps her best years were behind her, but Drifter was near stunned by her presence alone. There was no doubt those deadly arms and legs could deal devastating damage if Drifter let her guard down.

As such, Kay took a position, raising her arms up and clenching her fists tightly. She bounced on her toes a little, ready to move as soon as she was prompted. That prompt came soon enough when the bell finally rang to start the match. Kay looked to try and impress the Breaker, taking the initiative and pressing forwards towards Tia. She moved low when she approached, and moved well for the most part at least when it came to her advance, but Tia could no doubt already see some issues with the young up and comer. Her advance gave away what arm Drifter was going to strike with... and whilst no doubt there was a lot of power on the oncoming swing towards Tia's stomach, there was a lot of wasted movement.

Drifter was a fighter for certain... but she was clearly fighting with passion and had not been trained and as such her skills were in need of refining.

Tia has a big smile on her face seeing the look on Kay face... It's the look someone makes when meeting a hero or idol that look of awe and wanting to prove something to them. It's a nice feeling to be looked up two and for someone like her opponent who is really young it makes Tia sigh in happiness that she get's to fight... No she get's to train this woman and help make her great.

Seeing Kay coming at her... Tia is able to break down and spot every weakness and her opponent level of skill. Her opponent is unpolished but makes up for it with power and quickness, but technique is nowhere to be found. But it fine... she is the one that Tia has always dreamed about teaching someone so raw but able to mold, with her training Kay would be a force in the ring.

Easily sliding away from the punch to her stomach, Tia raises her arm and throws a counter right punch at Kay head. But stops it wanting the girl to see if she had landed it would have given her a major advantage this early in the fight. "First mistake.... Tighten up your stance. Your built for balance of speed and power..." , Tia calls out in a stern tone, her hands behind her back as she walks around Kay form.

"Your leading to much telegraphing what punch your going to throw. It's makes it much easier for your opponent's to dodge or counter you like I just did.." in full teacher mode, even going so far as to grab Kay arm and moves it up and down to see if there a hitch or anything.

Kay's eyes widened... she was quicker than Tia, that much was clear... yet somehow Tia was able to side step her oncoming strike, seeing the punch coming from a mile away and moving accordingly. What was worse... The Breaker was already throwing a counter to boot, moving in against Kay with a counter strike aimed towards the side of her head. The punch struck her well... but there was no power behind it, Tia had purposely pulled her punch, simply revealing the threat of what she could have done. The motions still made Kay stagger a little to the side, caught completely off guard before she found her footing and raised her guard.

Naturally she looked bewildered at why Tia wouldn't take the prime opportunity to strike her, and noticed that the Breaker's fighting stance had dropped completely. Instead she had her hands behind her back and she began to slowly walk around Kay, talking to her... giving her pointers. Was she trying to teach her? Drifter thought this was a match... seeing the crowd watching around them, she realised it was a match... but Tia was taking the time to help her sharpen her stance. There was certainly no complaints from Drifter as she would be a fool to turn away from good advice from a veteran Wrestler and fighter!

"I... umm. I didn't realise." Drifter nervously spoke, but she didn't know exactly what else she was supposed to say. She felt Tia grasping her arm firmly for a moment, repositioning her fist and getting her to tighten her form. The referee was a little unsure on the situation herself... it wasn't exactly illegal to give tips to the opposition after all.
"T... thanks. I'll be sure to do better and remember this stance." Kay whispered with a modest smile, keeping her form that Tia had guided her into. As unusual as the situation was, she was grateful for the pointers from such a well respected and established wrestler in Tia Langray. Respectfully she waited for Tia to return to her original position before she would try and come at her again.

It was decided right then and there... Tia will take her under her wing... She seen some of the older veterans having understudies to pass their legacies on to, and lucky enough Tia just found hers the one she is going to train and mold to be her legacy when she finally hangs it up. But this one... and she even comes with a really nick name already. Yes this one will do well.

"Make sure you do... I will now telegraph my punches...", in her stern tone, before getting into her famous Hitman Style stance. Bringing her left arm hanging near the waist while the right arm is closely drawn to her chest area. Starting to bounce on her feet and throws a quick left hand jab to Kay face, but twists her hips as her right hand is thrown coming at her opponent face planning on landing home and doing a good amount of damage.

"Dodge"

Kay nodded when Tia gave her fair warning, and noticed the Breaker shift her stance. There was a presence about Tia Langray once she positioned herself into her Hitman Style stance, a look within her eyes that had nothing but focus. It was an intimidating sight to behold, and all of a sudden Kay felt like she was smaller than Tia given her sudden and stern demeanour. All at once, Tia began to move forwards, her speed up to scratch for an older fighter and carrying all the precision and experience.

Again... there was no denying that Drifter was already an established fighter in her own regard, but once more it was clear there was a lack of training and discipline in her style. The young woman was relying on experience and instinct alone and nothing else. As Tia threw her first strike towards her head, Kay deftly managed to avoid the oncoming strike... but there was a certain waste of movement in the manner that Kay shifted, her positioning not tight enough and allowing for too much space. It made evading the next strike a bit more difficult, and though Drifter was able to do so quite impressively, it clearly put her on the back foot, giving little room for Drifter to counter and more room for her assailant to press on with more attacks.

Such a tactic had sufficed in the rookie's short career thus far only thanks to Drifter's own unreal endurance. At the very least the girl was still alert, retaining the position Tia had taught her as close as she could to her abilities. Kay looked alert, still ready to dodge without letting her guard down. It seemed her own experiences had at least taught her a few things of note.
"How... did I do?" Kay whispered, still feeling her nerves get the better of her. She couldn't believe she was getting pointers from Tia Langray.

Raw skill is what Tia sees when she looking at Kay, even after throwing her punches she sees the major weakness in her style. Way to many wasted movements and making the mistake of giving up ground to your opponent by going on your back foot, if that happens then your certain to be punished with a swarming style of moves.... or a brutal counter blow.

Deciding not to answer Kay question wanting to really test the younger woman skill's by going all out on her, if she can duck and dodge them then she is more then ready to learn from her. Either way Tia already has it in her mind that after this match is over Kay will be one of her student's but not just a student the best one she will ever train.

Lunging forward pressing her advantage and closing in on Kay, her right arm raised again going for a right hook to the other woman body. No more slacking or holding back just pure speed and power aimed at Kay side.

Tia said no words. She remained firm and stoic in expression and pressed on. Kay was unsure whether she did something wrong or not, but it seemed Tia was beyond words for the time being. The Veteran came at her hard, taking advantage of the space Kay had left for her, coming in with swift and dangerous swings. Again, Kay was able to evade, but again, she was giving up a bit too much space, once more on the backfoot with little opportunity to throw a decent counter or even push back.

The moment Kay's back hit the ropes was when Tia came in with a dangerous right, managing to slam a closed fist into Kay's exposed side. She grunted in clear pain, arching her body after the impact of Tia's fist bit into her body just below the ribs. It would certainly leave a mark later. Impressively, Drifter didn't lower her guard despite clearly being hurt, keeping her stance, protecting herself from further strikes instead of leaving herself open for a follow up... Tia could see the young Canadian woman was used to taking heavy hits. An impressive amount of fortitude to be commended... but the young woman shouldn't have to be taking such strikes in the first place.

Kay looked to throw a strike of her own, swinging with a hard left towards Tia's jaw, finally pushing forwards herself. Thanks to the form Tia had taught her, it wasn't as easily telegraphed, but there was still room for improvement, still... it was a good start and an indication Drifter could take instruction and learn from it. That said, Tia could see what Drifter's fighting style was all about all at once... the young Canadian relied on her toughness more than anything to bring her opponents closer for a counter strike... It was a dangerous tactic given one had to take punishment before they could deal it back in kind. It had probably worked for her thus far... but it would do her no favours in the long run.

Tia didn't relent her assault in her opponent, she was able to back Kay against the ropes with her famous hook jab combo but to her more of her own joy seeing Kay dodge most of the blows. But a small frown appeared on her face seeing her endure the body blow instead of covering up and blocking it , but that will come in time when she is ready to learn.

But to Tia surprise a hard left slams to her jaw sending her stumbling backwards from the hard blow. Proud can't not even describe how Tia is seeing seeing the woman fight back and still using the techniques that she just been taught, deciding to turn this into another teaching moment she lowers her guard placing her hands behind her back.

"Not bad using the skills I just taught you... But I am more concerned of your own style of fighting. You will not last long just tanking hits to get a counter blow, it work's in the movies not in real life." Tia explains Kay weakness and strengths now it time to see if she is willing to accept her offer... "Join me and join my gym.. I will train you and make you a great champion..." holding her hand out to the younger woman.
