Jessica Wright vs. Layla Colt

Jessica was starting to enjoy her time in Japan. It was a beautiful country. The Violent Violet had of course never visited a shrine or palace or anything of any cultural significance, which Japan had to offer in spades. No, she was having her fun in the dens of the dark parts of Tokyo, gambling all her wrestling money away while throwing back enough sake to put down a rhinoceros. And also, in the ring. Jessica hadn't won as much as she would have in an ideal world, but the amount of acceptable losses for Jessica was zero. And she was still on an absolute tear.

The week of the match, however, she had drank absolutely nothing, visited zero smoke filled rooms, and gotten a good amount of sleep every single night. When it was downtime, Jessica was the life of the party, but Jessica was a woman on a mission. She had trained hard for the early part of the week, and took some time off to relax in the latter half. Right now, she was loose and limber from warming up in her locker room. The Violent Violet was ready for acion.

She made her way to the staging area, counting her own heart beat in her neck. It was a little too fast for the match not even having begun yet, and Jessica made a face. She tried to walk a little slower, with a little more purpose, to keep her nerves. She had wrestled a thousand times with a thousand and one different women, but she could not help but get nervous before a match. She closed her eyes as she got to the staging area. It was now or never, she thought to herself.

Little sister there's blood on the tracks...

Jessica marched down to the ring with her held high and two middle fingers extended to the wide world around her. The crowd booed back, which just encouraged the Violent Violet. She slipped under the bottom rope and backed into her corner, ready for the woman who would stand against her for the evening.

When in Japan, do as the Japanese do, she thought.

Layla idly stretched her arms out left and right as she waited for her opponent's entrance to finish up, her face impassive as she readied herself for the next match. She twisted her hips left and right, bending down to touch her toes before straightening up, bouncing from foot to foot. She was eager to get into the ring again and show off her skills to the LAW world. Beneath her hoodie she was clad in her all-black gear of a single strapped tank top, tight shorts, fishnet tights and boots. She was prepared for an all out brawl - having done her homework she knew that Jessica Wright was a more experienced wrestler who was also boasting a pretty impressive LAW record. It would be up to Layla to try and add another loss to Jessica's tally.

Her music Burn Halo: Save Me came blasting out of the speakers and Layla wasted no time strutting out from behind the curtain. She paused briefly at the top of the ramp to wave to the fans before launching into an athletic cartwheel down towards the ring. She came gracefully to her feet, jogging to the ring and high-fiving fans and blowing kisses as she went. The high-flying Canadian dove neatly under the bottom rope and rolled to her feet, facing her violet-haired opponent. The woman was grim-faced, and didn't seem to have had the greatest reception from the ground, but Layla tried not to let that distract her. She needed to focus on the match, move by move.

Removing her hoodie, she tossed it to the referee and walked to the centre of the ring, standing with her hands by her sides, hip cocked as she met Jessica's gaze.

Jessica was waiting for her opponent to appear with great anticipation. Her nostrils flared as her opponent emerged at the top of the ramp. Jessica felt like she was a little girl on Christmas Eve, ready for Santa to shimmy down the chimney. Only her gift wouldn't be much of a gift at all, it would be a beatdown that she was giving out to someone else. And when she first appeared, Jessica was initially dismayed. She wanted to see how muscular the other girl would be, and that was hard to tell thanks to the fact that Layla was wearing a sweatshirt. It was a bold move to wear a sweatshirt to a wrestling match.

But then Jessica breathed easier. Layla rid herself of the sweatshirt to reveal a lithe body. Layla was attractive, very attractive. There were a lot of women here who could power through moves, but this woman did not appear to be as such. From what Jessica could guess, this woman would rely slightly more on speed than she would her strength.

"If you quit right now, it will all be good. But if you think you can stand up to me, that sweatshirt isn't the only piece of clothing you're going to lose tonight." Jessica took a step forward and lowered her fists. She flexed her arms to show that she meant business.

Layla raised an eyebrow at Jessica's remark, not exactly surprised. The woman looked like a pretty nasty piece of work. However, if her record was anything to go by, it wasn't an idle threat.

She'd have been lying to herself if she said she wasn't a little apprehensive about taking on this woman, but if she wanted to be the best in LAW, she would have to take on the best. She already noted the heavily muscled physique. Layla made a mental note not to confront Jessica in any direct tests of strength. Speed and endurance were her greatest assets, and something told her she'd need a whole lot of both to have a chance of coming out on top in this contest.

"Sorry friend, but I'll take my chances," Layla told her with a wry smile. "I'm not a quitter. You want a win? Well you're gonna have to earn it the hard way." Rolling her neck from side to side, the Canadian brawler stepped forward in kind, holding Jessica's stare and doing her utmost not to let her jangling nerves show. She nodded once to the referee then looked back to her opponent, slowly sinking into her wrestling stance. "Ready when you are."

The hard way. It seemed that her entire life, she had been doing things the hard way. So perhaps it wasn't that surprising that she would have to win this match the hard way as well. Layla was attempting to back up those words with actions, as she held the stare. A lesser woman would have melted before the sight of Jessica, but this woman was standing firm. Jessica sneered. Some women were hard to break, and some women were easy to break. But everyone had a limit, and Jessica was going to do everything in her power to find Layla's.

"Your funeral," Jessica said with a shrug. The bell rung, and the crowd gave out a full throated roar. Jessica found that her heart was beating faster now, and she narrowed her eyes. She crouched into her wrestling stance and inched forward, looking for any weakness that Layla offered up.

And if she didn't find one, she would make one. Jessica went for a lock up, and started testing Layla's base by pushing her back.

The bell rang, and Layla instantly dropped into her wrestling stance, her whole body wound tight like a spring as she held Jessica's gaze. After a moment, the woman advanced, almost tentatively, before launching forward into a grapple.

As soon as Jessica hit her in the grapple, Layla could feel the power of her opponent, instantly being shoved back a step as they pair met. Gritting her teeth, she made a show of trying to hold her ground, shoving back against Jessica while she tried to formulate a counter.

After moment, she let Jessica push her back even further. Then she suddenly tried to break out of the grapple, keeping a hold of Jessica's arm and attempting to use her opponent's forward momentum against her by pulling her into an arm drag that would hopefully send the other wrestling crashing into the mat!

Jessica felt Layla's energy. The dark-haired woman was not going to just lie back and accept Jessica just surging forward, as she flowed forward, rising to Jessica's deluge of power. The Violent Violet had the upper hand, she thought, but she had a proclivity to think that she had the upper hand. It was part of what made her the way she was.

But part of that was her over confidence. Just as she was considering pushing and pushing until Layla's backside hit the turnbuckle, Layla was moving. Jessica's momentum and positioning worked against her, as she was quickly thrown down to the mat. The move frustrated Jessica.

Very frustrated. She was still in range, she hoped, as Jessica lashed out with her legs to try and sweep Layla off her feet.

Layla exhaled a sigh of relief as she successfully managed to sling her powerful opponent to the canvas with a smoothly executed arm-drag, getting her the first move in the match. The crowds started cheering too, filling her with energy and she advanced quickly upon her downed opponent.

However, Jessica it seemed was no slough, and as Layla moved in she didn't notice the other wrestler sweeping a kick back until it was too late.

"Waagh!" Layla yelped as her legs were swept out from under her, leaving the Canadian brawled to fall down, landing hard on her backside against the mat. Gritting her teeth, she attempted to roll away out of reach, not wanting to get caught in Jessica's clutches if the woman attempted to follow up straight away.

Jessica always liked starting off her matches strong, and she did not like having been dragged to the ground by such a simple move. The Violent Violet quickly obtained equilibrium, however, with a sweep that brought Layla down to where she was. Jessica moved forward, trying to follow up on her move, but Layla had rolled away and ended any opportunity that she had to get another move in. Jessica's face spelled out her frustration.

Annoyed as she was, she got up to her feet. Layla was a few feet away now, out of range of anything she could conceivably do. That was fine. If Jessica had to close the gap, she would.

She charged across the ring and leaped into the air, extending both feet forward into a missile dropkick. Jessica knew that eventually she would go to the ground. She just wanted it to be on her own terms. Namely, with Layla maintaining a huge hole in her chest.

Layla managed to roll out of Jessica's reach, scrambling back to her feet and trying to get set into her wrestling stance again. However, Jessica was hot on her heels, and when she looked back across the ring, she saw her opponent hurtling towards her like a rocket. The other woman leaped into the air, body horizontal as she launched into a vicious missile dropkick.

The dropkick hit Layla like a battering ram. Even thought she'd had an instant to brace for the impact, the force still blasted her off her feet!

"UNNGGH!" Layla gasped as Jessica's feet were driven into her chest, cannoning the Canadian backwards until she crashed to the canvas, tumbling unceremoniously for a few feet before coming to a halt near the turnbuckle. Gritting her teeth, Layla struggled to one knee, trying to get her hands up in position to attempt some kind of counter for the follow up attack she was sure would be coming.
