“And you're telling me this only now?" Nerissa asked with obvious irritation after she kicked the punching bag.

“That's exactly why I didn't tell anything,” Victoria said, her eyes flashing. “If you had found out that Clara came to see me, you would have immediately refused the match with Yahagi.” The manager adjusted her glasses. “When it comes to her, you stop thinking sensibly, while you need to focus on making sure that your name continues to climb up the rankings.”

“You...”

Nerissa even blushed slightly. The Englishwoman's words hurt her pride, but she couldn't deny that it was all true. Clara Gaster... this woman had taken a significant place in both Nerissa's heart and head. There was nothing she could do about it. It all started out as a fierce rivalry, but now... now even the Native American woman herself couldn't tell what was going on between them. On the one hand, Clara was still her rival, but on the other hand, she knew exactly how she felt about this woman that she couldn't explain.

“You're right,” Nerissa sighed, walking over to the locker. “But you have to understand that...”

“I understand,” Victoria nodded, surprised that Nerissa agreed with her. “Don't think I'm an insensitive bitch, I just want you and everyone else in our team to succeed, that's all, and sometimes we have to hold back our emotions for that.”

Nerissa took the Pride flag out of the locker and tied it around her neck, then turned to Victoria and smiled. Not her classic manic smile, but a soft and even gentle one. A lot of water has flowed since Victoria offered her a contract and during this time Nerissa's attitude towards this woman has changed a lot. She was grateful for all that her manager had done for her.

"Well, then it's time to earn this contract!" She said.

The Englishwoman smiled back and nodded silently, after which Nerissa left the locker room and headed down a long corridor. The circumstances that led to this match were very unusual. However, she had nothing to regret. Nerissa was always ready to defend her point of view, because for her it was a matter of self-respect.

When she entered the waiting room, she stopped in front of the curtains. Nerissa caught herself thinking that this is the first time since the beginning of her pro wrestling career when she goes out to the audience first. She usually preferred to go out second because it creates the additional effect of her powerful entrance. But, as they say, some things just have to be put up with. The Native American woman licked her lips and took a step forward.

All the lights in the arena went out. There was an ominous silence for a few seconds, and then the walls shook with the first chords of Nerissa's musical theme. At the same time, three flashes made it possible to see a figure wrapped in a Pride flag at the top of the ramp. Three chords and three flashes made it possible to see that the woman turned to face the audience. Three flashes and three chords made it possible to see a wide smile on the Echidna's face.

With a confident step, she headed towards the ring, illuminated by a spotlight. Without stopping, she jumped on the apron and grabbed the top rope. With one deft movement, she jumped over the ropes. When the music ended for her, she untied the Pride flag around her neck and raised it high above her head. To the roar of approval from the audience, Nerissa made a lap of honor around the ring, and then headed to her corner. There she first carefully folded the Pride flag, and then leaned back on the turnbuckle in anticipation of her rival.

Unlike Nerissa, Yahagi was anything but confident about this match. This last week had been the worst in her time in LAW, and one of the worst in her life. Firstly, she had just received word that one of ger fsmily members was gravely ill back at home, so tgat was constantly playing on her mibd quite a lot. Secondly, this match was caused by her own idiocy. If she had simply walked away when she saw Nerissa in tge interview room and went home, this would notbhave happened. And thirdly, she had sprained her left wrist in training just a few days ago, and now her hand was bandaged up. And now she had to fight the woman who she had scorned. If Yahagi knew of a way out here, she would take it.

But that was not to be. She had gotten herself into this mess, and she knew she had to face the music, injured and demotivated or not. Upon hearing her opponents theme and ger name get called out, and her own theme blare out over the speakers, the crowd roared as she walked out. But she was clearly not herself. She slowly walked to the centre if the ring, the crowd murmuring to themselves as to why she looked so dejected. The Samurai finally reached tge ring and slid between the top and middle ropes, not even uttering a word as she headed to her corner. She proceeded to tie up her bandages properly, before looking at Nerissa, giving her a brief smile before going back to her prior gloomy state.

When her rival's music started, Nerissa lazily turned her head towards the ramp. However, almost immediately she raised her left eyebrow. Contrary to her expectations, Yahagi walked towards the ring as if she did not notice the audience applauding her. It was strange, but the Native American woman did not attach any importance to this, if her rival was in a bad mood, then it was only her own business.

But when Yahagi was in the ring, the Echidna attached importance to something else. The fact that the brunette's right wrist was wrapped in bandages did not escape her gaze. Nerissa pursed her lips because of this, and although she tried to keep her composure, displeasure was still reflected on her face. If Yahagi was injured, then she should have requested that the match be rescheduled for another date. Nerissa involuntarily clenched her fists, because she knew how it could all end. If she wins, there will always be people who will say that she succeeded only because her opponent was injured. And it really annoyed her.

Trying not to think about it, the Echidna went to the center of the ring. She came here because of the insult that the woman standing in front of her had given her. And so she was determined to protect her reputation. After listening to the instruction from the referee, Nerissa took two steps back, creating a space between them, and then took her fighting stance, waiting for the start of the match.

Yahagi knew that this fight was going to be a nigh impossible task due to her injury. She had been advised not to use the hand, which she had accepted was wise, so she effectively had to defeat Nerissa with a single arm. She walked to the cebtre if the ring, though seemed almost emotionless as the referee blabbed on about the rules.

"Shut up and lets get this over with" Yahagi said bluntly, staring at the referee before stepping back and getting into a fighting stance, though she put one arm behind her back.

"I stick to my promises, that is why I fight you despite this injury. I would appreciate it if you did not try to aggravate it" Yahagi said, before sending a sudden left hook towards Nerissa.

Nerissa's eyes narrowed the moment Yahagi addressed her just before the start of the match. Of course, on the one hand, it was commendable that the brunette decided to take part in the match despite her injury. However, recklessness and bravery are two different things. Nerissa had a rather controversial reputation among the fighters of LAW because she was ruthless towards her rivals, but at the same time even she had some moral principles. So that…

“If you can use your arm - use it,” she said coldly but seriously. “I'm not going to make an advantage of it.”

Many people in her place would have focused all their attention on Yahagi's injured arm to achieve an easy victory. But the Echidna was made of a different dough. If she only needed an impressive win-loss ratio, she would just wait for the right moment to get a weak opponent. But she didn't need it. She was here for the challenge and therefore Yahagi's arm was safe.

Ding-Ding-Ding.

The ringing of the bell and the screams of the audience filled the arena. Nerissa rushed to her opponent and Yahagi did the same. Moreover, the brunette decided to act first, throwing a left hook at the head of the Echidna. Flashing her eyes, Nerissa took a diagonal step forward and to the right, simultaneously making a pendulum movement with her torso in order to evade her opponent's punch and find herself in her blind spot. If she had succeeded, she would have immediately spun in place, swinging her left leg to send a spinning heel kick to the back of Yahagi's head.

As the bell tolled, Yahagi let the prior comments dissipate into her mind, at least for the time being. Yahagi let out a right hook and much to her chagrin, Nerissa deftly avoided it, making the samurai stumble slightly, which allowed Nerrisa to easily slip into her blind spot. Yahagi had a split second to react, but was too slow on the uptake, and was punished by a swift kick to the back of the head, sending her hurtling to the mat.

Thankfully, her injured hand avoided the impact, but she did land face first, leading the audience to make painful looks as the samurai faceplanted the ground. Yahagi then tried to get onto all fours, before sweeping her legs to try to take her opponent down to the mat as well. If she was going to win this match, she would have to do it the hard way.

It was certainly a dynamic start to the match. When Nerissa's heel crashed into the back of her opponent's head, Yahagi fell, which caused a wave of noise from the audience, who clearly liked the sign that this would be more than an active match. The Echidna, although she allowed herself to smile at her success, did not draw conclusions. One successful attack is not the key to victory. However, it opened up an opportunity for her that she was not going to give up.

The Native American woman took a step towards the brunette, who by that time had already started to get up on all fours. Nerissa reached for her opponent's good arm, but at the same moment Yahagi jerked sharply to the side. Before Nerissa could react to this, Yahagi grabbed the Echidna's legs, literally knocking the ground out from under her feet.

"Grrrhhh!!!"

Trying to group up, Nerissa protected the back of her head from a hard collision with the mat, as a result of which this fall turned out to be almost painless for her. However, the problem was that through Yahagi's efforts the brown-haired woman lost her pace and this was clearly not what she wanted. Therefore, once on the mat, she hurried to bend both legs at the knees, and then kick her opponent in the chest to push her away and prevent her from climbing on the Echidna.

It was clear that this match was going to be an aggressive one, given how quickly both women went on the offensive. Yahagi was happy as she managed to stifle her more healthy opponent's momentum, though Nerissa clearly wasn't going to let this stop her. No sooner had Nerissa landed on the mats, was she already laahing out, slamming both of her feet into Yahagi's chest, which forced her away.

"Gghhhh!" She grunted.

At this point, she would have just given the contract to Nerissa, given her circumstances and her own injury, but the crowd came here to see a fight. She stumbled onto her back, holding her chest in pain, half wanting to give up and let Nerissa completely destroy her, just so that she could get out of this scenario and get her injury sorted.

When both of Nerissa's feet crashed into Yahagi's chest and the Japanese woman was thrown back, the Echidna's lips stretched into a smile. Wasting no time, she bent her knees again and placed her palms on the sides of her head. Pushing off the mat with force, she jumped to her feet literally in one motion. It didn't take her long to assess the situation. Her opponent was still on the mat, covering her chest with her hands. Apparently, after Nerissa's kick Yahagi lost her breath.

Nerissa took a step forward, intending to do what she had failed to do last time. The Native American woman was about to grab the brunette's good arm in the wrist and elbow area. Yanking her up sharply, Nerissa intended to force Yahagi to take an upright position. After the events that had brought them to this point, the Echidna had no desire to go back on her words.

If she had managed to lift her opponent, she would have immediately wrapped her left arm around the brunette's neck, thereby fixing a front facelock hold. With her free hand, Nerissa intended to grab the hem of Yahagi's sports panties. With a deep breath, the Echidna intended to abruptly lean back to lift her opponent above the mat, while simultaneously giving her maximum acceleration to send her straight into the nearest turnbuckles using a snap suplex!

If things were bad before, they were worse now. Yahagi's arm was easily trapped by her more experienced opponent and she was hauled to her feet against her will. Her body was already wracked with pain, and Nerissa was surely going to make it worse. She had endured a lot of pain before in her various stints in other wrestling leagues, and during her time in LAW, but this was something else. Nerissa's aggression was something she had never born witness to before, and now, she was going all in.

Next thing the samurai knew, Nerissa was clutching her opponent's head with her arm in a strong headlock, and the only thing she could see was the turnbuckle. She gulped and immediately knew where this was headed. And lo and behold, she was right. Nerissa made a beeline for the turnbuckle, using her head as a battering ram. With a loud thud, head met steel, and Yahagi let out a cacophonous roar of pain, her brain completely dazed from the blow. The world became a blur, and Nerissa already seemed like the victor, so early on in the fight. Yahagi blindly reached out for a rope, hoping that she managed to get one in time, as she was now in significant pain, and was not sure if she could even continue.
