Kayla Grant vs. Thunder Ryuko

Kayla was stunned. Her body felt heavy and refused to move, and the pain in her head was still throbbing. She could hardly think, having taken a head-on collision with the hardest part of the ring. But she tried to shake herself nonetheless, desperate to clear her thoughts. Alas, she wouldn't be able to do so in time to stop Ryuko from hauling her back up, leaving the Californian bent over and panting for breath.

Once again, Kayla's only hope was to recover in time - but even that was of little hope for her, as Ryuko threw a few strikes at her stomach, causing her to cry out in pain as each blow that landed backed her up further against the corner! She cried out in pain, but glared back up at Ryuko, attempting at last to counter with a chop aimed to the Wrestle Angel's chest as she tried to lean forward and get out of the tricky position she was in.

Ryuko was about to grab hold of Kayla and lift her up to a seated position on top of the turnbuckle but the woman still had fight in her! The chop smacked the chest of Ryuko making her howl as she hobbled back a couple steps in shock! "How dare you!?" Ryuko shouted as she rubbed her chest. "You will pay for that one! Yaaaaaaahh!"

Ryuko in turn stepped back up to Kayla, sending her own chop across Kayla's chest as hard as she could! Ryuko was all too happy to engage in a chop battle with Kayla, feeling confident that she could overwhelm Kayla blow-for-blow as she was a good bit bigger than the foreign woman who was sharing the ring with the thunder empress! Ryuko put a lot of force in that chop as well, watching to see how Kayla would react to it!

Even knowing the odds were stacked against her, with as tired as she was and Ryuko still going strong, Kayla was never someone who was willing to give up without a fight - and Ryuko certainly felt it, by the looks of how she went staggering back off of the chop! Kayla grinned at that, stepping forward just to keep up close quarters with her opponent. Maybe she could stand a chance after all, Kayla thought to herself! Even as she felt the blood trickle down her face, Kayla felt the determination reawaken in her, and she shot a smirk at the veteran. "Oh, yeah? Show me, then!"

That being said, Kayla was still tempting fate, and when Ryuko threw a chop back at her in response, it still hurt - quite a lot, as a matter of fact. The Californian girl was thrown back from the impact, landing against the corner once again as she hissed from the pain. But too much was riding on this for her to let it go! "You...think that's gonna keep me down-!?" Kayla had to fight against the pain to form the words, and her voice was shaky despite her defiance, but she was going to mean it one way or another! "Yaah..!" she cried out, shoving herself back off the ropes to carry her forward as she tried to throw her elbow into Ryuko's collarbone!

Ryuko was expecting another chop but ended up with a sharp elbow to her collarbone instead! The surprised Ryuko cried out in pain as she hobbled back, rubbing her upper chest and gritting her teeth. "So thats how you want to do this huh? Just stay down this time you annoying pest!" Ryuko said as she lunged forward at Kayla, this time running straight at her and extending her arm as she tried to hammer Kayla with a clothesline across her upper chest in response! Ryuko was frustrated that Kayla was as gritty as she was. Honestly she had expected to have already put Kayla away but this woman refused to stay down! It was something Ryuko found admirable most of the time but right now it was frustrating Ryuko. However, the extra anger in her strikes had to have hurt Kayla just as this clothesline would provided it connected!

Ryuko had taken the bluff, and paid for it. The chop Kayla had gotten off on her earlier was exciting enough as it was, but now, as she had dealt her opponent a hard elbow across the collar, she knew she was really making waves. Even a few voices in the crowd were cheering her name now, as she stood rubbing her elbow with a smirk of pride on her face. Even if things looked grim for her before - she still had this!

She saw that Ryuko was coming at her again with a clothesline, but Kayla had had the time to prepare herself for impact while Ryuko was recovering. Ducking low, she went to roll through her legs to dodge the blow and spring back up behind her! "Hah! You missed!" she jeered, getting a little too into the excitement of it all.

Ryuko was now pissed. She was angry with herself for missing, but she was even more enraged after Kayla kept running her mouth. Ryuko didn't turn around, instead pivoting on a foot while swinging her other leg up as she spun in place! "This won't you damned ring brat!" Ryuko shouted as she spun around, aiming a spinning roundhouse kick right at the face of Kayla as she stood behind Ryuko! The thunder empress was hell bent on leveling this woman. She knew if she could crush her with some strikes to keep her still that her slams and holds would in turn make quick work of her. At least, that was the plan of Ryuko who was feeling sure of herself despite Kayla putting up a great fight.

Kayla was expecting to get a good shot in, now that she had gotten behind her opponent. After taking a moment to indulge herself in a little taunt, she was about to attack Ryuko's now-exposed back, hoping as well that the veteran would remain winded from the trouble Kayla had put her through in setting this situation up. She smirked, narrowing her eyes in focus as she drew closer...and put herself right into the path of a roundhouse kick Ryuko had set up, landing her blow without even turning around!

Kayla had been lucky up to this point when it came to dodging blows, but this time her luck had run out. She took the kick head-on, her head cracking back with another cry of pain as she fell back into the mat and clutched her face! She landed seated in front of Ryuko, the pain enough to daze her for the time being.

Now was the time to pull ahead, to really nail Kayla with something high impact! Ryuko pulled Ryuko up to her feet and grabbed her around the head. Ryuko initially looked to be lifting Kayla up for a vertical suplex but instead nestled Kayla's head against Ryuko's own shoulder while grabbing her ankles with her hands. Holding Kayla up at an angle Ryuko jumped up trying to land on a knee to deliver a nasty muscle buster to Kayla, making for a high impact move targeting the head/neck area just as her roundhouse kick had succeeded in doing!

Kayla tensed as she felt herself lifting up, trying to work her way through the haze to figure out what she would have to anticipate as the next move. Going up, she would expect a vertical suplex - but that wouldn't be too hard, she thought to herself. She could always roll with it; the real trouble would be what Ryuko had planned next. But if she could just steer clear of that, she might have a chance...

...that was, until she found Ryuko put her head on her shoulder, quickly grabbing for her ankles and hoisting her legs up in a muscle buster position! "W-What..!?" was all that escaped Kayla in surprise. She knew a move like that was typically done with an opponent on the ropes...for Ryuko to do so from the ground was an impressive display of strength! Kayla was impressed...or at least she would be, if it was coming from anyone other than someone like Ryuko, who she was determined to prove wrong. Unfortunately, Ryuko was making that a bit difficult for her!

Soon after getting her in position, Ryuko dropped back, leaving Kayla's head to go smashing into the canvas. After her head had already been targeted so much in this match, such a landing was hardly what she needed. The Californian let out a cry of pain as soon as she came crashing down, crumpling onto her stomach as she was released. Her head was spinning, and she could barely think straight.

Ryuko felt the impact and knew it had to be devastating! She quickly rolled Kayla over onto her back laying across her chest to go for the pin. Ryuko reached down to hook a leg looking over and the referee slid in to position to count the pin.

"ONE!"

Ryuko nodded with the count hoping that this would keep Kayla down. She knew the woman was much tougher than she looked but Ryuko knew the look of a total daze when she saw one on an opponent as well.
