Yuki Kazikura vs. Sunny K [D]

If the crowd had been cheering for Yuki before, they were really getting excited now. Her acrobatic prowess was on full display as she came springing off of the ropes and down onto Sunny. Though the landing had been a hard one, Yuki stayed on her feet, even if she needed a moment to stop and collect herself beforehand. She had bent forward, resting her hand on her bent knee, but soon enough she straightened herself to her feet.

But her time was now. Sunny's plans might have been to collect her strength, but Yuki was sure that she had her where she wanted her now. She got down on top of her, hooking the girl's leg to try and pin her shoulders. As the ref came down to count, Yuki hoped that Sunny wouldn't recover in time to kick out.

"One!"

Sunny stirred on the ground, realizing that she was not going to find safety from further pain by just lying there. She could hear the crowd roaring from the latest impact, and could see Yuki straightening herself up. I have to get up!

Mustering up her strength, Sunny began to pull herself up to a seated position, only to be pushed back down as Yuki got on top of her for the pin.

"One!"

The count of the ref jolted Sunny, filling her with a sense of panic. I can't go out like this! Thrusting up with all of her energy, Sunny tried desperately to get Yuki off of her.

"Two!"

With one final burst, Sunny tried to buck her opponent off of her. "I'm not done...just yet!"

That should have been it, Yuki thought. As she lay atop Sunny and pulled up on her leg for the pin, it was as if time seemed to slow down. She could feel every pounding beat of her heart and every breath she took, as the ref began to count higher and higher. She was sure this was going to be it, after she'd performed a move like the one she had just whipped out. Now, she just had to wait for that moment to come.

The referee had raised her hand, preparing to slap a palm against the mat for a third time. But then, she felt Sunny buck upward from under her, and she went tumbling off to the side as the blonde girl freed herself at the last minute! Yuki let out a gasp at being upended this way, but righted herself on all fours to look back at her opponent. "You've got more in you than I thought," she commended. If Sunny had this sort of fighting spirit in her, Yuki could hardly complain.

Thrusting upwards with all her strength, Sunny bucked the Japanese girl off of her right before the referee was able to count to three. Wasting no time, she rolled away to get herself out of harm's way, picking herself up to a kneel.

As she heard Yuki comment on her she tried to think of something witty to say back, but she was drawing a blank. "Well...they don't say 'California tough' for anything!" she responded nonsensically as she started to get back to her feet, readying herself for her opponent's next move.

Even if Sunny's expression might not have made a lot of sense, Yuki was hardly the most familiar with American idioms, and she didn't question it. She simply nodded to the girl in recognition of her skills, but her expression quickly went back to a stern and serious one. After all, she still had a match to win, and she wasn't going to waste time in messing around.

Seeing that Sunny was rising, Yuki also got to her feet, strafing around her with her eyes locked on her movements so that she could prepare for whatever the blonde might have to throw her way. To test Sunny's defenses, Yuki threw a couple of kicks in her direction, watching how she'd respond.

Sunny got herself back to her feet, bouncing a bit to loosen back up. She was careful to stay vigilant after her recent narrow escape, keeping a watchful eye on her opponent's body language to gauge incoming attacks. It seemed being too aggressive hasn't paid off for her when facing the Japanese veteran, so she looked to keep light on her feet instead.

With Yuki coming forward and throwing a few kicks in her direction, Sunny would bob around to try to dodge the strikes, returning a smile as she tried to bait her into throwing more her way.

Yuki wasn't sure how Sunny was going to respond after a near-fall, and she wanted to get a better feel for what she could expect from her for the rest of the match. But it pleased her to know that even for a newcomer, Sunny had the endurance and determination to keep going as she swerved around her incoming strikes. This girl really seemed to have the know-how she would need to last in the ring.

With Sunny fighting defensively thus far, Yuki wasn't sure what more she could expect from her. She wasn't sure if she had a plan, and for now Yuki figured it would be a wise idea to play it safe in case she did. In the hopes that she might be able to set up a position she could take advantage of, Yuki jumped back to put some distance between the two girls - enough to give her a running start as she came at Sunny with a clothesline. All the while, however, she kept watch for what she might do next.

Sunny was able to nimbly dodge the incoming kicks, her reflexes from sports serving her well in avoiding danger in a still unfamiliar competition. Seeing her opponent back up a bit, she began trying to figure a way inside to find her own offense.

She wasn't given much time, however, as Yuki charged right at her with her arm out for a clothesline. All that Sunny could think was that she needed to get down and fast, so she dove down into a sloppy baseball slide towards Yuki to try to avoid the strike. Her limbs sprawled about, she would try to trip up her adversary with whatever arm or leg could bring her down.

As she ran ahead, Yuki thought about what her options are, based on how Sunny might respond. If she reached out to block the clothesline, Yuki would catch her and use her arm to trip her up. If she came back with an attack of her own, she was going to swerve. If she kicked out, she'd try to hop up to deliver her attack from a position of higher elevation. It meant that Yuki had to sacrifice some speed in making an advance that would be safe for her purposes, but it was a sacrifice she was willing to take.

What Yuki didn't realize was how she was underestimating the uncoordination of someone who didn't know her way around the ring - and she had no way to prepare herself for such unexpected moves. When Sunny came towards her, Yuki saw her limbs flailing, and she momentarily panicked, sucking in a breath at the array of arms and legs heading her way. She didn't know which to avoid, which to hop over or which to hold back from - and in the end, she went tumbling over entirely, rolling to the mat with a less than graceful slide. "W-Whoah..!" she cried, skidding to a halt. Yuki blushed a little at her rather undignified landing, but she still began to pick herself back up, putting it out of her mind for now.

Sunny slid towards the legs of Yuki, though the motion maybe better resembled a kid skidding across a slip-n-slide with her arms and legs wildly sprawled about. Reaching out, she tried to grab a hold of one of Yuki's legs to trip her up. Although she couldn't manage to hold onto a limb the Japanese wrestler awkwardly crashed to the ground off-balance.

Quickly scrambling back to her feet, Sunny made her way towards Yuki, trying to capitalize on the chaos. Reaching into her reservoirs of strength, Sunny went to tightly wrap her arms around the Japanese wrestler's waist in a bearhug, trying to lift her up off her feet.
