Valerie clamped on tight with the side headlock, making to interlace her finger for maximum effectiveness, no give or release. Chika did better in the hold than many would’ve, fighting up despite their size difference, but she wasn’t about to let this position go so easily - she wanted to lock this veteran down, use her power to close the skill gap between them.

She stepped back with Chika and hit the ropes, only to be thrusted forward when her opponent tried to pull her head free - a professional move, but one she was too familiar with. Valerie was pushed forward, but she dropped down to a knee and ground down hard on her hold, bringing out her full power to maintain control. She gave Chika’s head an extra squeeze for good measure, silently communicating that no, it wouldn’t be that easy.

Chika’s counter would yield no result. Valley Doll appeared to have technical fundamentals down to a T. And as Chika struggled in the headlock, it became clear that it was time to step things up a notch.

Wrapping her arms around Valerie’s waist, she would attempt to lift the bigger woman up, and drill her neck and shoulders into the canvas behind them, trying to counter the headlock with a Backdrop!

No, not getting out that way.

Nope, not that way, either.

Definitely not that way.

Chika-san was strong, especially for her size, but Valerie had enough power to punch above her weight class, and she brought it to the fore as she rode down her opponent's struggles, defying her attempts to slide. Her arm, thick and solid, swelled around the woman’s head, applying some crushing force, proving there was no way she was popping it free.

So, wisely, she gave up on the idea. Instead, Valerie could feel her arms clasping around her waist, clenching her tight, lifting her for a backdrop. A standard counter for the headlock, and as such, Valerie was prepared for it. Instead of fighting the lift, she pushed up with her feet and added to the momentum, making her soar upwards as she was lifted.

Valerie came down on her on knees instead of her back, the perfect position to follow up from. While Chika was still down, she leaped back up, raised her arm, and tried to drop her elbow on the smaller woman’s chest, hoping to nail her before she realized what was going on.

The moment Chika’s back connected with the canvas, she could tell something was wrong. Namely, that Valerie didn’t connect with her back to the canvas! The Joshi vet tried to rise as fast as she could, but Valley was already to her feet, as she dropped straight down and drove her elbow to the smaller woman’s chest!

”GAAAH!!!”

Chika rolled off to protect herself from further harm, clutching the sore spot on her chest as she tried to quickly get back up to her feeet!

Don’t be too cocky. Don’t be overconfident. Don’t let the moment get away from you. Focus, focus, focus.

Valerie tried her best not to let the moment's success get away from her, to keep her head clear and maintain her composure, but it was a little hard not to be happy with herself. This was a good start, a damn good one, against a veteran wrestler. Despite the size difference, it was an impressive showing, and she was eager to keep that momentum going.

She rolled over to her knees after Chika flopped off to the side, hurting from her elbow drop, so vulnerable. She favored that chest, which just put a bright red bullseye on it as far as Valerie was concerned, telling her exactly where to press her advantage.

She returned to her feet and moved in on her opponent straightaway, giving her precious little room to work with. Reaching out, Valerie tried to pull Chika’s arm away from her chest just long enough for her to lash out and hit her with a stiff right straight to the chest, driving her toward the corner.

The moment Chika was back to her feet, Valley Doll was there to strike, immediately lashing out a hard fist into the Raven Knight’s chest! The repeated attacks to Chika’s increasingly reddening chest were making it very difficult to breathe, as she doubled back…only to realize that behind her was a turnbuckle! Valerie managed to corner her!

”Mgh…”

Grunting in displeasure, Chika would attempt a low kick at her blonde rival’s legs, trying to drive her away from the corner!

Valerie’s mothers had always stressed on her the importance of maneuvering around the ring - ‘ring awareness’, as they liked to call it. It was a hard thing to master, something that primarily came from experience, but she felt as if she had it down ofr the most part, and this was a good showcase of that. It was just enough to wail on Chika and hope for the best. Against a smaller opponent, with speed on her side, she needed to put her in the right positions, spots where her maneuverability wasn’t a boon.

This was the ideal spot, with Chika’s back up against the pads and nowhere to go. It didn’t mean she was helpless, however, and the smaller woman proved that when she threw a long kick at Valerie’s leg, hitting her right on the knee and forcing her to stumble back.

Not the best place to take a hit, sent tingles through her body, but she wasn’t about to lose her momentum over. Valerie took a couple steps back, grimaced as the pain ran its course, then threw herself forward, leaped up, and shot her leg straight out towards Chika’s chest, trying to nail her against the corner with a dropkick.

Chika didn’t expect to Valley Doll, a relative rookie, to turn the positioning of the ring against her like that. Then again, having both of your parents be legendary wrestlers helps in the long run with advice about the last minute details of the sport.

Chika still tried to fight back against Valley, managing to gain a little bit of ground against the blonde. Chika tried to step forward, to continue pressing her attack…only for Valley to jump forward, aiming her legs towards Chika, as she drove her feet into her rival’s chest, the powerful dropkick driving her back against the corner!

”GUUOOOGGH!!!”, Chika wheezed out, dropping to a seat with her back against the turnbuckle!

Valerie couldn't see how Chika reacted to her dropkick immediately, but she could feel the impact through her feet and the way it connected—a clean, solid hit with no momentum wasted. She landed on her back, then threw her legs up and immediately rose with a kip up. Sure enough, she was gifted with the sight of her opponent sat against the turnbuckle, dazed and stunned. Easy prey.

Instead of moving in straight away, Valerie dashed away from her foe, turned about, and hit her back against the opposite turnbuckles. She used that bounce for added force as she rushed forward once again, leaped up, tucked her legs in, and rammed both of her knees into Chika’s face, giving her the full force of her charging body weight.

Chika's head was spinning after the strike. As much as she wanted for Valerie to prove herself against her, she was leaps and bounds ahead of what she was expecting. Already, the blonde was jumping back to her feet, rushing to the opposite side of the ring for her next attack.

Getting some feeling back into her limbs, Chika would see Valley Doll rush towards her...and right as she would jump for the attack, Chika would drag her feet under the ropes, swiftly getting out of the way to the outside, leaving Val to impact the turnbuckle with her knees!
