"Sensational" Shea London vs. Cecilia Lombard

Cecilia smirked a little as she heard the blow connect, with a groan from Shea as she started to back off, and with the crowd going to the edge of their seats as they watched the proceedings with breathless anticipation to see who would take control. This was just what Cecilia had planned, to show them just how hopeless their idol and hero was against a superior talent like herself.

But Shea wouldn't be put down for long, and she was quick to get a good hold on her opponent before whipping her straight into the turnbuckle. Cecilia's feet were racing before she even knew what was going on, and soon enough she took a solid smack courtesy of the ring post that halted her in her tracks. Now reeling as she was, it looked like she had been left open for the blonde to take advantage.

And the veteran blonde had every intention of taking advantage.

More to the point, Shea had every intention of showing both Cecilia and London’s own adoring fans just how far from washed up and past her prime the Sensational One truly was, in spite of Lombard’s taunts and trash talk.

With the American brunette left sagging in the corner, Shea started to charge toward the corner. Only instead of sprinting in to meet her foe, London threw herself into an impressive and acrobatic tumbling run. The British beauty came out of her final flip with her back turned to Cecilia, and her elbow raised and cocked, Shea hoping to connect with a handspring back elbow to Lombard’s bosom.

Barely able to get back on her feet in time, Cecilia was practically a target to Shea in such a state - and indeed, the Briton's speed and agility wasn't going to fail her now. The sight of the veteran's daring acrobatic moves brought a loud cheer to the crowd, as she went flipping over and over again to close in on her opponent. Then, she swung her elbow straight back to nail Cecilia dead in her chest.

With a cry of pain filling the stadium, Cecilia felt a crippling wave of pain rush through her. She fell over on her knee, reaching one hand up to cup her breast where the blow had landed, and grit her teeth, trying to snarl through the pain. "Bitch...you wanna go for the cheap shots, huh?"

London couldn’t help but roll her eyes in response to Lombard’s ludicrous complaint, but that didn’t stop the British legend from reaching down and pulling the reeling brunette back up to her feet.

“Far be it fer me ta argue with an expert, but wha' tha ‘ell was cheap about that?” Shea asked, but she didn’t pause long enough to let Cecilia answer. Instead, the blonde started to sling her right arm around the stooped brunette’s neck, in so doing turning her back to Lombard’s lowered left shoulder. Once the lock was secured, Shea intended to charge back toward the center of the ring with her opponent in tow, and to slam the American’s face into the canvas by way of a running bulldog.

It was, indeed, a decidedly hypocritical comment coming from Cecilia, but the brunette didn't care. As she saw it, anything to undermine her destiny to reach the top wasn't meant to be. She grit her teeth, glaring back at Shea as she lifted her up, but soon Cecilia was forced to process things on her feet. Quite literally too, as Shea ran back for the center of the ring, dragging Cecilia along for the ride in the process. The brunette was forced to keep up the pace, her feet paddling at the ground, but no amount of effort could prevent Cecilia from taking what was to come.

As soon as Shea had reached her destination, she dropped straight for the canvas in a blow that Cecilia had no choice but to eat. Her head landed with a thud, and she was quick to sink onto her face.

With her fans now rocking in the aisles, the Sensational One bounced up to her knees, and quickly turned to face the sprawled, face down form of the obnoxious American. Crawling over to Lombard, Shea deftly shoveled the brunette over to her back, before falling across Cecilia’s chest. London gathered and hooked both of the brunette’s stems, while the referee dove to the mat and checked Lombard’s shoulders…

With Cecilia downed as she was, it was a no-brainer that Shea was going to go for the pin next. The crowd started to cheer and applaud at seeing their hero prove herself in the ring against an upstart who thought she was better, and it looked like Shea had this set. After all, Cecilia wasn't stirring...

"One! Two!"

But that was, in truth, just what Cecilia wanted her to think, lulling her into a false sense of security before she was ready to spring her trap. Just before the third count landed, Cecilia would kick out of the pin before attempting to roll away and put some distance between herself and her opponent, then get to her feet.

As Cecilia rolled away, Shea sat up, casting a playfully reproachful glance at the official. “C’mon, ref…” the Sensational One chided him, though the slight smirk gracing her lips indicated that her protests were more for show than for anything else. As many matches as London had fought over the years, she certainly had to expect that it would ultimately take more to put someone the caliber of Lombard away.

Accepting that the match was indeed destined to continue, the British blonde picked herself off the deck, and marched over to her stirring adversary. Shea reached down to give the brunette a helping hand in getting the rest of the way to her feet, London again planning to claim Cecilia’s wrist and re-introduce Lombard’s spine to the corner turnbuckles via an Irish whip.

Doubtlessly if Cecilia had been listening to Shea as she chided the referee for not counting her out, she would have been quite irate indeed. She had escaped through her own skill and ingenuity, of course, not through any fault of the ref! To imply that would be an insult to her capability, and that was one of the many things Cecilia hated.

Luckily for Shea, though, Cecilia wasn't listening to her words, as she had more important things to concern herself with, things concerning another thing she hated - namely, her opponent. Once again Shea closed in on Cecilia, but the American girl had plans for her, as she would go for an elbow aimed for her chest as she approached. "Payback time."
