Raya sat backstage, stretching her arms out above her head, completely relaxed. Gone where the days of nerves causing her to shiver and stammer and overthink, she’d now gotten used to the scene, especially the wait pre match, which at first seemed a daunting prospect but was now just another part of the occasion. And today, she’d have another opportunity to wrestle. She wasn’t exactly sure who Karen Gale was, but as was the case with all her other foes, she left it up to chance and would wing it, hoping for a win.

Her obsession with making it to the top was still there, although not burning as bright as a blaze, it had slightly cooled. She used to fret and worry about every loss, and try to overdo it as compensation as a result, but now she was more aware than ever that the best thing to do here at law was to have patience and take things slow. She’d try and appreciate every moment she had in that ring rather than gun for a singular result, although that’s not the say that she wouldn’t still do what it took to get that win.

When it was time, Raya entered the arena and walked slowly but confidently to the ring, ignoring the crowd around her. She no longer felt the need to rush, but instead savoured every step she took. She’d slip into the ring and wait calmly as the announcers introduced her, then would wait for her opponent to show up.

Her opponent arrived to explosive fanfare.

Karen Gale was met by a chorus of cheers from the crowds as she stood on the walkway, wearing a New Zealand All Blacks t-shirt over her ring gear while Nagual’s signature haka trap remix blared around her. She had been in LAW for a little over a year now, and in that time she had amassed quite the fanbase, and was overjoyed that people were this excited over her and over one of her matches. Grinning, she raised her arms, urging her fans to cheer even more loudly as she made her way down to the ring.

Striding into the ring, Karen eagerly hopped up onto the ring and dropped to her knees, arching back to raise her arms to the crowd, basking in their cheers. Finally, she stood back up and peeled her shirt off, revealing her new outfit. Slowly, she turned to face the redhead opposite her-- a woman who seemed her equal in height and build, and had a fierce, determined look that Karen often saw when she looked in the mirror. She grinned. This was going to be a good match, she knew.

"So you're Raya Ashberry?" she asked, nonchalantly adjusting her purple-tipped ponytail as she stretched. "I'm Karen. Let's have a good one, yeah?"

Raya was in good spirits tonight, and so her little urge to trash talk or mock Karen vanished once her opponent said to have a good one. She’d watched her come in, her eyes wandering over the ring gear before focusing on the woman herself. Still, she wouldn’t refrain from at least engaging with some competitive words.

“Same to you, I guess.” She said in response while observing her opponent’s physique. It was impressive, to say the least, not way out of her paygrade though, but it would be a good challenge to take on, she just knew it. “I gotta admit, you do have some style, and you know how to pull off an entrance, nothing too boring or too overstimulating, just right for this. And you also have yourself a few fans, I’ll say. Hopefully they don’t see you laid out by the end of the night, hehe.”

Once the match would begin, Raya would look to immediately put her arms up and offer a test of strength through a lock up, as she suspected that they possessed similar strength but wanted to confirm it for herself.

So, Karen noted, this American (or Canadian? She honestly couldn't tell) didn't seem like a heel; at least not outright, but she seemed willing to go for a simple test of strength. That was a good sign in and of itself; given how powerful Raya looked, Karen was curious to see just how strong she actually was.

"Oh don't worry," she replied with a wolfish smile as she circled her foe, "the fans are gonna LOVE this."

And with that, she darted in and locked up with Raya. In an instant, the two women were pushing and twisting collar and elbow as they matched strength against strength. Karen clenched her teeth as she poured her strength into the grapple, trying to force Raya back towards her corner in an early display of dominance...

As they locked up, Raya was confident in her strength, she made eye contact with her opponent and smirked at her, but as the two of them began pushing, Raya suddenly felt herself being pushed back against the corner!

She decided to put all her strength into it and managed to regain some ground but it was no use as Karen clearly had the upper hand now, Raya was still able to put up some resistance but it would only be a matter of time until she would exhaust herself trying to keep up with an opponent who might not even be giving her all!

However, Raya couldn’t think of a single time so far during all her matches at law where she’d let a lock up play out, either she or her opponents would always pull out some cheap trick to get off scot free depending on who had the advantage in power, and this time Raya was the one who had initiated it, so she wasn’t about to throw in the towel so soon despite Karen having the upper hand. She took a deep breath and burst forward once more, trying to push Karen back towards the opposite corner!
