The Prima Donna's Diary - Chapter 13: Pathway to Pugilism

Ami had Peggy exactly where she wanted her, and she was about to stack the ginger pugilist up on the ropes for a little punishment, really set the tone of this match. However, the bespectacled boxer would lunge forward for a clinch just as the Prima Donna Darling wound her fist for another punch. The sudden contact would cause Ami to flinch a little, a tiny wince escaping her lips, muddled by her mouthguard as she felt Peggy's body against hers, weighing her down and pressing into her frame as the two barreled back into the center of the ring. Not wanting to give her a major chance to recover, Ami attempted to slug her in the side with a few left hooks, trying to dissuade her opponent from the clinch, however possible, but Peggy's tight grasp over her made maneuvering a little difficult.

[Pegasus]

When Peggy went for the clinch, she made a note to lock down Ami’s arms halfway which made the left hooks feel like small nudges by comparison. Her coach shouted to work on the timing of release and then going in for the advantage. Peggy nodded and waited till they were right in the middle before releasing before the referee could step in to break it up. Peggy got her guard up quick shooting out two fast jabs right at Ami’s face! If she could blind Ami on that, she tried for a brutal left hook into the stomach!

Ami was locked up in the clinch, unable to properly clash with Peggy as the ginger-haired pugilist used her height and weight advantage to bully the brunette back toward the center of the ring, timing a swift left hook that saw her glove dig right into the Prima Donna's stomach, leaving her gasping as she barely managed to tense her abdomen in time. The pain left her reeling for a moment, but she had her guard up in case there was any follow-up. However, just as she was about to return fire to try and pay Peggy back for that hefty blow-

DING!!!

The bell rang, bringing a close to the first round of the match. Despite Ami's strong opening, Peggy's well-timed clinch and follow-up hook definitely gave her the boost she needed to close the gap in points, if not tie it up altogether. With a slight huff, Ami just smiled and turned away, giving Peggy a little nod of acknowledgement before sauntering away. She was still looking bright-eyed and eager to rumble, now having a slightly better understanding of what her opponent would be like going forward. Peggy was a bit taller and heavier, so Ami was certainly feeling that hook. It was a reminder that she could be at risk of getting knocked out, especially in the later rounds, should she not proceed with caution. The brunette took a seat on her stool as her corner cooled her off, fed her some information, and eased the pain in her core.

The bell rang ending the very first round as the crowd clapped it up for both girls. Peggy didn’t do too bad this round and she got some brief hits on her opponent. Her coach called her back and she sat down getting her mouth guard taken out and given some water to spit out in her team’s bucket. Peggy listened to her coach as she just focused on resting as much as she could before the second round could begin. The judges were fast to scribble on their scorecards giving Ami the round in a clear 10-9 score across all three cards. She did have a strong opening and kept Peggy on her toes before Peggy got a brief comeback, but it wasn’t enough to win the round.

Following that moment of rest and coaching, the seconds would clear out of the ring before the bell called both fighters back into the fray. While Ami was still in the lead for the time being, the margin of error was minuscule, with the redheaded Peggy needing only two clean points to overtake the lead by the end.

DING!!! - ROUND 2

With that in mind, the Prima Donna Darling kept her breathing steady and stood herself back up, gloves at the ready as she tucked her chin and shuffled forward. Things started nice and easy, like a slow dance in a ballroom. The pair of pretty pugilists would circle the ring, Ami tossing out a few jabs as they closed the gap between each other. Once they were in each other's range, Ami tried to pressure Peggy with a few quick 1-2 combinations, trying to bait a reaction to see if she could slip anything the redhead tossed her way. The Prima Donna was looking for an opening, and she was sure that she'd find something eventually.

Peggy knew she was down in points to start out and her coach simply told her to step up more this round. If she could managed at least a knockdown this round, she would be in a better position. Peggy has knocked down foes before so she knows some combos to do it. The bell rang and Peggy had her mouth guard slipped back in between her lips and her coach pat her on the back as she got up getting her guard up. Ami and Peggy circled one another as Ami tested Peggy’s reflexes with stationary jabs as Peggy only went back inches before coming back in. Ami tried changing the flow with 1-2 combinations, but Peggy blocked them trying to send some slugger hooks with her gloves into Ami’s ribs!
