A Perfect Professional Performance: Akari Ito vs Edith Una (D)

Akari and Edith were rolling around for quite some time, but the Hidden Gem quickly put an end to the stalemate by forcing her legs to halt their momentum, using the sudden break and last bit of adrenaline she had to muscle the Sea Turtle up, not only just picking herself and Akari off the canvas, but RAISING her opponent into the air, all so she could DRIVE her back down across the mat with an explosive, ring-shaking Fisherman Buster!!! The crowd leapt from their seats, all left in shock at the display of wrestling excellence and sheer will power, that unyielding desire to WIN. However, Edith was not finished, pushing through the exhaustion once more, almost like an automaton, breaking past her limits to get the job done no matter the cost, thinking not of the toll that was being taken on her body, but focusing solely on her primary objective.

With that in mind, a swift Irish Whip set up would see Akari ricocheting off the turnbuckle after colliding against it, leaving the already weakened Sea Turtle stunned and ailing long enough for Edith to ROCK her upside the head with an absolutely DEVASTATING Ruby Queen Kick, practically knocking the Japanese woman out cold following such an incredible maneuver!!! Half the crowd cheered, the other half exclaimed in shock and desperation, a cocktail of emotions flying all around the arena as pandemonium hit the stands, a huge wave of unruly mania in the form of arena-shaking chants, hollers, screams, and claps...but none of that mattered right now, because there were only two minutes left on the clock...but all Edith needed was three seconds...

DING DING DING!!! The third fall was claimed, the referee's hand slapped the canvas for a third and final time—and just like that, the score changed, blinking on the overhead display:

A thunderous wave of emotion crashed through the arena—cheers, gasps, chants, fists pumping and mouths agape. Edith didn’t even register it at first, her arms barely able to lift off the mat as she sucked in air through clenched teeth, her whole body practically buzzing from exertion. She had done it… but it wasn’t over yet.1 minute, 30 seconds. That’s all that was left. A lesser opponent may have waited it out, and Edith could have, she could’ve stayed down. Could’ve stalled. Could’ve rolled outside the ring and let the clock run out with a sly grin and a point lead—but that wasn’t Edith. That wasn’t The Hidden Gem. She wanted a show, and with everyone attention she wanted them to make sure they were watching. She pushed herself up to a wobble-legged stand, swaying for a moment before she turned toward her opponent. Akari was still down, but stirring—a twitch in the fingers, a roll of the shoulder. The Sea Turtle wasn’t out yet.

And Edith respected that.

She staggered back a few steps, chest rising and falling like a piston, before she raised her finger, singling for one more point

“Come on, Akari…! Get up!” Rather than waste time or take the easy win, Edith turned her back and stumbled toward the ropes, throwing herself over them in a weary but agile leap, landing on the apron. She hooked her arm around the top rope for balance, steadied her legs beneath her like jelly-filled springs… and took aim. Akari was hopefully slow to rise, but rising all the same. The crowd chanted her name in a desperate rhythm, trying to will her back into this clash, to answer Edith’s challenge.

Edith’s eyes sharpened. She narrowed her stance. Then, she launched herself upward, the top rope bowing beneath her before snapping back, propelling her into a graceful, twisting SPRINGBOARD 450 SPLASH, spiraling through the air like a pink comet all over again! She wasn’t going to run the clock. She wasn’t going to coast. She was going to earn the win with one more shot-And if Akari still had something left in her… she’d have one chance to prove it.

The point was scored, Edith was now up by one, and all eyes were on the weary-looking Sea Turtle. Now was as good a time as any to spring back to life, perhaps even pull off another last-ditch Double Knees raise like last time, or pull something from deep within her arsenal like a sudden counter Codebreaker out of nowhere...however, nothing would come from the Sea Turtle, who could barely keep herself standing on her weary legs, still recoiling from the Double Knees counter from before, her body still shaken up after that Fisherman Buster, and above all else, her world still spinning after taking a direct kick to the temple, leaving her near unconscious save for a shred of resistance keeping her on the brink of consciousness...scattered across a regular match, perhaps the Sea Turtle could've managed to find something deep down...but the sum of those factors in just the last couple of minutes alone would prove to be enough to deny the Sea Turtle any hope of resistance as that blurry pink comet came crashing down with a loud-

The ring shook beneath them as Edith Una came crashing down like a jewel-colored meteor, her body twisting through the air before nailing Akari flush with the Diamond Is Forever—a perfect 450 Splash that thundered against the Sea Turtle’s battered frame. There was no sudden last-minute guard, no knees raised, no flailing limbs or last-ditch reversals—just the limp, softened body of a warrior who had given it everything and simply had nothing left to give. The impact flattened her, driving the air from her lungs and the resistance from her spirit. Edith didn’t immediately go for the cover. Instead, she stayed there for a moment, arms splayed, chest heaving, eyes wide and distant as the rush of that final move slowly bled away. Her back arched… and then she slowly, methodically rolled herself backwards, using the momentum of the splash to transition into a tight, decisive final pin.

The referee dropped.

"ONE…!!!"

"TWO…!!!"

Still nothing. The Sea Turtle's arms lay limp by her sides.

"THREE…!!!"

DING DING DING!!!

The crowd roared in unison, the noise a wild symphony of praise, respect, heartbreak, and thunderous awe.

The final bell rang just a few seconds later, the end of the Ironwoman match officially signaled as the timer hit 00:00 and the arena lights flared to mark the end of a classic. The Crowd stood, clapping and cheering for the amazing display, as it was easily the best thing they had seen all night giving the match a standing ovation it deserved.

Edith didn’t rise immediately. Instead, she sat up slowly, breath shaky, body trembling from head to toe with exertion. Her bangs clung to her forehead, and every limb felt like it was carrying weights. But her eyes, glassy and tired, went straight to Akari. She didn’t gloat. She didn’t pose. She simply turned to the downed Sea Turtle beside her… and reached out. Her hand gently found Akari’s—limp at first—but Edith gave it a soft, encouraging shake. A symbol. A gesture.

Not of pity.

But of respect.

Of acknowledgement.

Of recognition that the war they had waged had pushed them both to the edge—and that eeven though she won, Akari was just as important as she was to making this much memorable. She'd give her this simple gesture, then sit on her knees letting the ref raise her hand, before then gently rolling out of the ring, giving a quick bow to the crowd, before then exiting stage left, also known as to the back. She didn't want to stay too long.
