Red on Black: Wyvern vs. Karla "Ray" Reinhardt

The kick impacts. Once again, Karla is knocked away, and Wyvern begins to stalk forward, making her way towards the Reinhardt intending to follow through on her advantage. Karla's words, however, stop Wyvern dead in her tracks.

She can't be serious. This is bait.

Even with this internal acknowledgement, Wyvern still strides forward to accept the offered test of strength. It isn't honor. The Irish wrestler has little patience for a concept like that. But in fights like these, the straight path, the one that brought about the harshest, most direct conflicts with her opponent...that's what she's here to experience. She wants to feel that struggle through her entire body. It is why she fights. And when it comes to a pure measure of strength, she never loses. Karla might think she wants this, but Wyvern intends to prove her wrong. That plans and tricks can only get you so far against overwhelming force wielded by a skilled hand.

Coming to a halt a few feet in front of Karla, Wyvern raises her own arms to match Karla's, then begins edging forward to lock in a grip and begin the test of strength.

When opportunities don’t arise, make your own. Something about this match so far had her pinching her eyes shut, just measuring and trading nicks for bruises. Slower play by play with engagements starting and finishing by the breath. Tie up the hands, bring her in, and use some teeth if you need to. She did this easily, it seemed. Hands in the air, an open shot if something liked. She’s shorter, but they billed at similar weight. How would this fare? Having came in, locked hands, Karla’s fingers curled, pushed on the back of Wyvern’s hand, brought back her foot and bore any initial push. Her strategy was about keeping her knees slightly bent, posture slightly forward, arms out, but not too far and close -- locked.

She stared up, visibly annoyed with one brow perked, the other eye half-closed, twitching while her upper-lip did the same. Growls always seemed to take her breath. Long and low exhales like she’s itching to explode. Except, “Puh!” Karla spat, right to their face. You can call it the plan all along. No, she just wanted to. -- But right after, Karla’s main push began. The might of carved muscles and her muscular legs, core, back and shoulders -- all together to go full steam ahead, try and plant boot ahead of boot ahead of boot.

Wyvern's grip locks in at the same time as Karla's, her fingers closing down with bruising force. Even if she's taken off guard by something, even if the test of strength goes awry, she will not release this hold. In this way, she knows, she can control the flow at least partially. Regardless of what happens. The initial moments of the lock-up are unsurprising, orthodox. Wyvern slowly pushes Karla back, keeping her strength in check to exert consistent, heavy force on her opponent. She can tell Karla is only trying to resist, not win. It was all another scheme.

As the test of strength fades into a stalemate as Wyvern attempts to guard against Karla's next attack, she keeps a close watch on her opponent's legs. A kick would be the easiest, sharpest way to disrupt the contest. Her underestimation of Karla once again punishes her. As saliva finds her eye, Wyvern is taken off guard enough that her posture is shattered, allowing Karla to push her back with barely any opposition at all. The Irish wrestler stumbles backwards, only just managing to keep her feet under her as the Reinhardt plows forward.
