Madeleine knew she was going to spin long before it happened, and it showed from the way the blood drained from her face and then, once her legs were caught, from how she kicked and bounced. As Madeleine was dragged towards her opponent, her fingers clung to the mat like claws, while her jaw clenched. Even her neck strained, as if her head was stretching to keep away from the behemoth. All the while, Origa moved with ease and precision, until the Countess' delicate calves were crushed between her captor's ribs and biceps.

Then—merry go round. Sun and clouds and ropes and beach and sea melted together, a kaleidoscope of sound and colour. Wind ripped at her hair. The only steady sight was Origa, who had begun to smile. Origa cold had grated on Madeleine. This one, growing warm from her confidence and contempt, made Madeleine want to scream, which, once the blood had collected for long enough in her temples, she did.

The Countess bounced three times on her way to the ringpost. The sky spun, her stomach flipped. Once she settled, her skin grew hot from the sun beating down, and the world spun.
