Fight the LAW 4

Unread post by Monsy »

Greetings friends and foes!

Are you ready for this year’s Fight the LAW?! It’s about that time again with this PPV representing another year of great activity, participation and storymaking from the members of the community. We thank everyone for their continued support with the site’s events, both by us, the Event Team and all user-driven ideas.
Briefly, a recap of the purpose of the two big PPVs
Pay-Per-Views exist for HYPE. They’re the grand stages that represent significant points in a character’s career to show that they MADE it. This is where stories can begin, develop or end on a big stage. Any cool, fun or sexy idea that you can think of: This is the place. It’s one of the rare moments where LAW’s decentralized continuity can converge into one place and seem connected.

LAW has two integral PPVs roughly every six months: We are LAW and Fight the LAW. Where Fight the LAW represents travel and new experiences from its regular Japanese shores, We are LAW is our Wrestlemania. Our Wrestle Kingdom. Our Double or Nothing.

Between these events, LAW also has an assortment of other events, ranging from themed Supercards, Tournaments and User-run special events. Each one helps to grow the community, tell new stories and helps put a spotlight on what folks are doing.

Introducing: Fight the Law 4!

Once again, as is tradition, Law is leaving its usual quarters of Japan to take the world by storm in another internationally acclaimed Pay-Per-View set to rock the wrestling world from top-to-bottom as the penultimate wrestling promotion on Earth. With millions tuning in to watch their favourites from different parts of the world, this is one of the grandest opportunities to elevate your character to another level and take yet another step towards wrestling greatness.

Become the night’s biggest winner, hottest loser, make or break all the stakes, go buck wild, shed bleed, shed tears, spit and headlock your way into narrative catharsis. Because what Fight the Law offers is not only just a wrestling card, but an equally juicy opportunity to write your characters exploring the world and cultures, erasing boundaries to what’s possible for a good thread. At the end of the day, isn’t that all we want?

SO. What about the location this time around? Or should I say… Locations! TWO different countries are on the docket today, both on the Mediterranean Sea. You want a fat hint?! Well… Just look at the pictures below, geez.

ALRIGHT FRIENDS AND FOES, it’s time for WEEK 1.
Take a boat! Take a plane! Drive REALLY-REALLY-REALLY-REALLY fast off a ramp off a mega ramp off Kyushu over the Himalayas, past the Suez Canal and between Tunis, Libya and Italy as a Mediterranean …

WEEK ONE
Image

MALTA
MELLIEHA BAY / GHADIRA BAY

It's been a bit since we had a good beach episode and we at the Event Team thought the Mediterranean Sea and BEACH was a non-negotiable opportunity for everyone to have some classic beach fun, especially for users that joined since the last one! SO, how is it set up?

Picture… A CONCERT STAGE! Right on this beach. Think of crowds, busy, all eager to see the action. Your wrestler will enter from the stage and descend down a ramp to the thrash of LIVE MUSIC played by a band of your choosing ( or make them up!! ). The ramp ends at ringside like any standard stadium setting, with wooden barricades, plenty of chairs, some bleachers, and plenty of beach fun going on beyond that! The ring and ringside is FULLY customizable. Make it a mud pit! Make it all sand with four posts and rope! Slam an octagon right in there! Change out the barricades to be the solid edge of a bowl to make a moat! Or have a big trench for the same effect! Even have a match out in the water, with your ring of choice rigged to the seabed! ( Or wild and free! Free to toss and turn at the thud of a suplex, at the mercy of modular dock cubes. )
Disclaimer!
This idea is fully customizable for your preferences. All Ideas presented here are food for thought and don’t need to be strictly followed beyond one core element. You ready?

...
..
.
Beach, yo.
As is tradition, we will be having a social option for each week! Just to give you a homebase, here it is!

SENGLEA, MALTA
THE CUGÓ GRAN MACINA

(Website)

The Benchmark for Boutique, Luxury Hotel! Another five-star experience for our five-star match machines! You’re in for a treat with this castle that was converted into a hotel, with award winning dining, the most AMAZING view over Grand Harbour and all the right comforts to make it a perfect home base for this Malta trip!
  • So! What else is there to do?!
    1. GET IN THE WATER!! — Go yachting! Go swimming! Go Scuba-Diving! Swim in crystal clear blue, find buried treasure in the seabeds, take a private boat tour to Comino’s Blue Lagoon! Snorkel caves! Cliff dive at St. Peter’s Pool or Kayak Gozo’s coastline!
    2. Behold the city of fortresses! — Valletta is an interesting place and home to a world heritage site with its several fortresses in between a whole motley of streets in cobble and aged limestone with balconies, hidden bars, shops and more! Walk the ramparts of these fortresses, find yourself staring between the battlements and embrace the sea of baroque architecture everywhere.
    3. RULE THE NIGHT! — Sunsets, street food, open air music and pure vibes. What more do I need to sell you on here? Head over to Paceville for your clubs, then Gianpula Village when you get a nice buzz for the open-air festivals and DJs. OR visit the walled city of Mdina, a place candlelit amongst its quiet streets, lax traffic and several wine bars dotting its rooftops, looking over the horizons.

WEEK TWO

ROME, ITALY
COLOSSEUM
AMPHITHEATRUM FLAVIUM

The ETERNAL City, FOLKS! Week 2 will take place in a fully revived colosseum to reflect old Roman standards in total bloody glory. Have your match take place here, in a ring, on a patch of sand or any platform choice of your preference! Embrace the traditions by hosting triumphs, grand entrances, crowd members equipped with vegetables and fruit alike! Roleplay gladiator duels with weapons of your choosing if that entices! Chase each over across the Valerium in some dare-deviling. Fight over the Emperor’s box! Bend someone over the podium and rail ‘em! Support your friends and significant others from the cavea! Rise from the Hypogeum! Get lost in the service tunnels! Take a trip next door to a fully revived Roman Thermae! At the end of the day, only one side shall leave through the Porta Triumphalis… and one through the Porta Libitnensis.
Disclaimers and Help
Hello! While Google IS your friend to bridge the gap of imagination and certain terms, I understand that it might not translate the best or be very intuitive, so here is a mini glossary for the terms used.
  • Triumphs: Think of them like victory laps to show glorious images of your wrestler on marble, with music, fan-fare, lots of waving and embracing yourself in total glory! While they didn't really happen here, we're here for fictional Roman fun!
  • Valerium: A shading that went over the colosseum to protect the civilians from heat stroke and ventilate it.
  • Emperor’s Box / Podium: Where the emperor and VERY important people sit. The most esteemed.
  • Cavea: Where everyone else sat. Like the stadium bowl. Except, the more “important” you are, the lower you are towards the main arena. I must stress for those who want to be thorough that you don’t need to segregate along these lines, given that the Maenianum summum was for slaves, women and the POOR people.
  • Hypogeum: Under the arena is a subterranean structure that’s typically two stories, fit with trap doors, lifts and plenty of props and waiting rooms for those entering the arena.
  • Roman Thermae: This is just a complex bathhouse in Roman times and able to provide some folks with the opportunity for maximum fun!
Porta Triumphalis / Libitnensis: These are gates on the arena floor. Triumphalis is for winners and Libitnensis is for losers.
DISCLAIMERS: YOU are ABSOLUTELY free to use or ignore as MUCH of this extra confusing historical stuff as you please. You can have it simple or make it immersive. You can have a ring or choose to battle on sand. You can have it be a normal crowd or a real Roman-like one with tunics and sandals. You can customize this arena to your heart’s content so long as YOU have the most fun possible!

( Just don’t kill each other like gladiators in the movies. They really tried not to do that all things considered because gladiators were expensive!! )
Now that you’ve been introduced to the main course of Week 1, we are ALSO introducing Social Thread Subforums to both days. YOU will be able to explore Rome to your heart’s content, but if you need a baseline for where your wrestler may be located, then we have the answer:

Image

ROME
PALAZZO MANFREDI

Live the extraordinary in Rome! Dine, get room service, enjoy the amenities AND the sights from this world class plaza. And when you’re done, feel free to explore some of what Rome has to offer.

  • Here are THREE things to get your ideas going:
    1. CENTRO STORICO — Sites like the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, and Campo de’ Fiori are all here. THIS is the centre of historical Rome with all its aged splendours and glory etched into beaten cobblestone. Explore! Have a Date! Enrich yourself into the culture!
    2. Trastevere — A colourful bohemian neighbourhood still clinging to its centuries-old working class roots. Come here for all the old houses, cobblestone streets, traditional trattorias, artisan shops, clubs and cultural landmarks. Take yourself on a passeggiata through all its nook and crannies, pass by the Piazza di San Calisto and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, the site of a gilded, mosaic-filled church.
    3. Vatican City — The beating heart of the Catholic Church in all its holy glory, being its own sovereign state within the city. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and the Sistine Chapel. Just be ready for all the waiting lines!

At the suggestion of a user and with the agreement of the team, we’re making the small change of flipping the venues of weeks 1 & 2! This is to create a more IRL wrestling PPV feel where the grander vibes is saved for the latter card. Going forward, we will try to reflect this in our structuring.

As for the form, that was closed for a couple hours to allow changes and proper logging. There has been a minor bug in the form with switching the questions before logging—so for the six entries we currently have, please remember your preferred week & venue choice for when we verify the matches.

TLDR; Rome is now week 2. Malta is week 1. Remember your venue+week incase of errors caused by this change when we verify. Happy wrestling !!
