Shizuka’s life has been tumultuous, to say the least. When she was young, her parents divorced each other when her mother Yuna discovered her father was having an affair with another woman, which left her family in a difficult financial situation. This left Yuna picking up odd jobs to try and make ends meet, and she wasn’t home often. As the oldest child in the family, Shizuka was left in charge of taking care of her siblings, which burdened her with a lot of responsibility.
To make matters worse, she was routinely teased at school for her slim build. She didn’t inherit her mother’s ample curves or her statuesque figure, which left her feeling a deep sense of inferiority. Furthermore, when she started high school, she discovered that her mother had been a star athlete on the school keijo team, and she wanted to follow in her footsteps - but no matter how much she trained in order to hone her skills and stay in shape, she couldn’t make the cut thanks to her scrawny build making her an easy target in try-outs. Dejected, Shizuka would instead focus on her studies in the hopes of getting accepted to a good college and getting a decent job - but it was around this time that Yuna had broken into the world of professional wrestling, achieving worldwide fame for her size and her dominant performance in the ring. Finally, the family was financially stable, but her mothers’ success would only remind Shizuka of the fact that she didn’t measure up to her. No one would believe that Yuna Matou could have given birth to a twig like her, and when she tried to point out that it was her mother who was becoming a rising star, she was just laughed off.
When she graduated high school, Shizuka would find herself finally moving out. Now, she thought, she would be out of her mother’s shadow, and she would finally have a chance to live her life for herself. However, with that newfound freedom came new challenges. Now Shizuka had to find a job to pay her tuition, and much like her mother, she had to scramble to make ends meet when she could never quite find anything that worked for her.
It was almost poetic, then, that she would receive an opportunity just like her mother had. One day, Shizuka was approached by a recruiter for a company that produced competitive apartment wrestling videos, with girls in bikinis wrestling in front of the camera on the mats at a rented studio apartment. She instantly recognized this as the same company that her mother had gotten her start as a wrestler working for. As luck would have it, the recruiter had recognized Shizuka, too - apparently, Yuna had let her daughter’s name slip on the set one day, and when the recruiter recognized her name, he realized that having the second-generation scion of one of their most popular names would be great for business.
Shizuka was taken aback by the offer at first, relating over the phone to her mother that she was sure this was some attempt by a creepy older man to get close to her. But to her surprise, Yuna encouraged her to take the offer. She related the wonders that apartment wrestling had done for her confidence, and she had noticed that was something Shizuka had been struggling with. A career in apartment wrestling might well be what she needed to help her feel strong, capable, and in control of herself - and, just to make sure nothing untoward happened, she would come to her signing with the company to make sure everyone knew Shizuka had a 232-pound heavyweight backing her up. Not only did that ensure everyone knew to treat Shizuka with the utmost respect, it also made it clear that she had the support of one of the company’s biggest draws…which could only make them all the more eager to sign her. She was provided access to their training facilities, and she was quickly booked for a highly promoted match.
Naturally, this put a lot of pressure on Shizuka. She was new to apartment wrestling and had never been in a serious fight in her life. She was already grappling with how she couldn’t measure up to her mother, and now she had stepped directly into her shoes. But she also realized this was her big chance to prove that she was worthy of her mother’s legacy, and she committed herself to her training, pushing herself to get in shape and honing her athletic potential. Now, she realized, she finally had something to give her motivation. She finally had a purpose in life, and she was going to do it justice.
When the match finally came, it didn’t start off very well for Shizuka. Her opponent openly mocked her from the moment she first laid eyes on her, making fun of her figure and claiming that she was only in the company at all because of her mother’s fame. Shizuka spent the first few minutes getting battered all around the apartment, stretched in hold after hold. But then, something snapped in her - right when her opponent had her pinned down in a breast smother as a way of teasing her about her small breasts.
Shizuka realized that this girl was treating her exactly as her old school bullies were. She was curvier than her, more athletic than her, more popular than her, and she felt this gave her free reign to do whatever she wanted. But this time, Shizuka could fight back. Now, she could take matters into her own hands and prove her tormentors wrong! That revelation hit her right when she needed it most, and it filled her with a fire like never before!
In the blink of an eye, everything was flipped on its head. A passion came over Shizuka, and she started fighting back, striking faster and harder than her opponent could prepare for. Trivia:
- Shizuka is absolutely blind without her glasses. As such, she wears them in the ring, using clips behind her ears to keep them in place.
- Between her training and having to study for college, Shizuka drinks a lot of energy drinks and coffee to stay awake, and has developed a caffeine dependency. She maintains that she doesn’t have a problem.
- Even though she’s frustrated about her lack of curves, Shizuka is most proud of her toned midriff, which she feels is a testament to her commitment to her workout routine, and she dresses to show it off often.

Fighting Style: Even if she’s shown a lot of promise so far, Shizuka is still a rookie in the wrestling world. As a Young Lioness, her style is a rudimentary one that focuses on the basics; where she does stand out from other trainees, it’s mostly in techniques that she’s picked up from her training before LAW, and her style takes cues from keijo and catfighting. She mostly focuses on strikes and stretches to immobilize her opponents and deal damage to their limbs, as well as a few smothers - mostly using her butt and her abs.
However, when Shizuka is truly pushed past her patience, it can unlock a whole new side of her. Her composure masks a lot of pent-up emotions from her difficult youth, and in desperate times those feelings can come out in full force. Against opponents that remind her of her bullies (including athletic types and those who mock her for her figure), Shizuka can let her anger get the better of her and start brawling wildly, focusing on beating her opponents down and causing them pain. It isn’t too often that this happens, but it’s certainly something to be aware of with her.
Favored Match Types: Shizuka is still finding her place in the wrestling landscape, and can’t be too picky about what matches she puts herself up to. She doesn’t have much in the way of experience when it comes to hardcore wrestling, but she does have more familiarity with apartment wrestling than prostyle wrestling and has an edge in similar environments. She’s still open to trying new things, but she’s taking her time, and her trainers are keen to ease her into things before she has to deal with all wrestling has to offer.

- Yuna Matou is Shizuka’s mother, and a big advocate of her taking her career to the next level. She’s encouraged her to live up to her full potential - and although Shizuka finds her enthusiasm embarrassing, she’s still glad to have her support. Yuna has even offered to tag with her before, though Shizuka hasn’t taken her up on that. Yet.
- Saya Matou is Shizuka's younger sister by one year. Even after Shizuka has moved into the LAW dorms, their relationship is a rocky one - she views Saya as a brainless bimbo, and deep down resents that she's enjoyed more success in her life despite it.
